Fisher with Stockfish prep would be levels above than he was back then.
Idk about that, Fischer wasn’t a memorization guy

surprised nobody mentioned morphy
Because all of them would demolish Morphy. It seems that they were taking it as playing them as they were in the past, no modern prepartion or anything, which is why some mention that Fischer was playing at a similar level of today's top players.
I was hoping one of them would mention Morphy. A true historical figure and the best of his day.

I think an interesting one would be Morphy. He was so strong at the time but I think get criticized nowadays because there was no one else around that was strong.
Yeah he's a good example of how it's just completely impossible to know how good historical players would be today. There was nobody at the time who could challenge him, so a lot of his inaccuracies were just boredom.
The players are wrong. The right answer is Morphy
It's what Fischer himself would have said.

Vishy is only 54 and still in very good shape and very strong (2750+) as well.. He is not historical 😅
He became the world champion when Lei was like three yeasr old.
Still being active and being part of chess history isn't mutually exclusive. Both statements are true with regard to Vishy.
Historical persons are individuals who are recognized for their achievements or influence in their respective fields. While many historical figures are deceased, it doesn't mean that someone needs to be dead to be considered historical.
Lol the editor went whole field day with this video 😂😂😂

Alexander Alekehine or Paul Morphy
Answer would be magnus if hes historical
im a bit surprised nobody said Kasparov.. but Vishy tho?🧐
This video is freaking amazing. lol
Amazed that no one said Tal
Best proof that Fischer is the real goat. No one has ever come close to the level of prestige and recognition that Fischer had. He was the only global “superstar” in chess history.
If Magnus and Kasparov were dead they would also be top chocies in this question though.
Also, a lot of what made Fischer a "superstar" had nothing to do with his playing strenght.
@@nicolasrios1231 if Anand was an answer, Kasparov surely can be.
@@thebcwonder4850 They weren't given alternatives. The only person who named someone who is still alive didn't even say Fischer so I don't see how that's relevant at all.
Every other player understood that by historical they meant chess players of the past, as in, those who are not around anymore.
There's no such thing as goat. A lot of Fischer's notoriety is just a product of the time he lived in. It's impossible to know, for example, how peak Fischer/Kasparov/
Carlsen/Morphy/whoever else would do against each other, and it never will be. It's just speculation.
Carlson would beat all of them. That dont mean that Magnus is better but chess had improve with a lot of theory.
I believe the next WC will be better than Magnus just because theory keeps improving
Capablanca baby
I never realized chess could be funny. Well done FIDE, well done.
who is host?
You've overdone it with "reaction memes". But that's nice, that you've went for that direction
Is this the official FIDE channel? And does Magnus qualify as an answer to their question?
The whole world loves the fisher, both the top and the simple players
I’d want to whole Fischer experience. Him refusing to play anywhere except a secret base in Antarctica with him trying to explain to me how the Earth is really a Doughnut and hurling slurs at me. Would be such a great time.
you gonna have to cough up some cash to play with him bud. He doesn't give free rides lmao.
To be fair, it makes sense. Like Hikaru pointed out, any of the greats before Fischer's time probably wouldnt really stand that much of a chance vs modern top Super GMs. And most of the players AFTER Fischer's time arent really so much old enough to be "historical".
The next best super great would be like, Gary Kasparov, but he was recent enough that many players today have already played him in his prime, even if they were young at the time. And even if he's retired now and weaker than he used to be, he's still alive and plays even today. And players since Gary are even MORE recent. Like, Vishy Annad is a weird one to say given he was WCC only a little over a decade ago, and is still active in his career even if he's not as highly rated as he once was.
So Fischer is really just the cumulation of everything youd want in a past player. He's just recent enough to be strong enough to hold his own, while being old enough to not be as relevant in modern chess, while also being super famous and one of the GOATs. Pretty much nobody else fits the bill on all 3 of those criteria.
Extremely stupid statement. What do you mean by recent enough? There were many top player at his time but they were just not as good as he was. After 30 yrs. the answer will be the same
@@aleksdobrev1486 Im not talking about HIS time though, im talking about who came AFTER.
Players like Garry Kasparov for example is a huge deal. in 30 years from now, he'll be just as much of a legend as Fischer if not more. But its kinda weird to mention someone like Gary Kasparov when he was active not all that long ago, and is still alive today even. Many current top players have even played Gary when he was active. So he's just "too recent" to really be a good consideration.
But in 30 years? Yea, tons of players will probably want the chance to play peak Kasparov.
There are a few other players like that too, such as Karpov. Or Annad.
And in like, 50 years, players like Magnus will be on that list too.
The thing is, RIGHT NOW, Fischer is just in the perfect spot where he isnt too old to not really be much of a challenge to modern players, but also old ENOUGH where modern players would really want to play him since he was never really active in their lifetimes.
And just being dominant in your time isnt enough. Players like Tal or Morphy would be on that list too otherwise. Morphy especially, he was one of the most dominant players of all time, even more so than Fischer. But he lived far too long ago, he wouldnt even stand a chance against modern GMs, let alone Modern Super GMs. Fischer on the otherhand is from the 70s, meaning he's close enough to modern times where a lot of chess theory was already developed. Now, engines did make players significantly stronger again after Fischer, but he was also dominant enough in his time that even today he'd at least stand a chance against modern Super GMs instead of just getting completely destroyed like other people from his time, or any of the legends that came before.
Did an alien edit this video?
Who is the girl taking the interview??
