    Thank you very much for sharing. I’ve watched all of your videos in preparation for my abdominal hysterectomy in 7 weeks. I’m 47 and have large fibroids as well. Everyone tells me not to watch CZcams videos but they calm me down especially when I find one that’s just like the surgery I will have. You look great and I hope to be hiking at 4 mths which would be April 2023!

    Thank you so much for your videos!! I am having a complete abdominal hysterectomy in 48 hours and this is what I have been searching for since I learned I needed the surgery. I am very fit and active and it's been discouraging how little information there is on recovery for women with high fitness levels going into surgery. I've watched so many recovery videos but many of those women have certain lifestyle variables that don't apply to me. While my surgeon has told me that he'd cancel my gym membership if I set foot in it before 8 weeks post op (he's on to me!!), it's very encouraging to see that it's possible to feel so well, less than 3 weeks post op. My main concern, other than complications of course, is significant amount of downtime, the unknown of how my body will bounce back, and the huge hit to my overall fitness level. Thank you for addressing all of these! I realize, as I say these things, that it may sound superficial to some, but fitness is a huge part of my life and overall wellbeing and I'm really worried that I won't be able to maintain that after surgery or that my capabilities will change somehow... just the unknown, I guess
    Thank you again!!

      Barring any complications, your prior fitness will probably be a big advantage for you. My advice to you is listen to your body. It has a great deal of wisdom. Always take into consideration the advice from your surgeon as they know what they found on the inside of your body. Be kind and forgiving but know that you can return to all your activities with time and work. Good luck.

    Thanks for the positivity. I'm on a waiting list for hysterectomy and do find it a bit daunting. I don't have fibroids, just continual bleeding. I certainly look forward to being the other side of it and being able to regain my health. I take iron tablets daily. I could do with ramping up my activity and fitness level to help with healing when the time comes.

    Thank you for this - i needed to hear it all! Im booked in for Dec for a hysterectomy at 34. My only worry is adhesions internally from healing - I have had huge issues with these in the past from a laparoscopy ( bowel obstruction occured and now my ovary is stuck to my bowel - so i get pulling pain and pain with BM). Any ideas on how to help internal adhesions post op ?

      When you have been cleared by your surgeon to do so you could looking into a physical therapist that specializes in fascia work and pelvic health. They may be wonderful for you. Good luck.

    What kind of fascia treatments? This is my first time hearing of this. Thanks.

      @nathanandtiffany  Před rokem +1

      It is a pretty long answer to give specifics on that. In short, it is a treatment for the connective tissue to help prevent scarring and adhesions. There’s many different ways that can be done with the hands and/or tools. I but should be done under care of a skilled provider.

    Just curious - are you a runner? And if so, when did you start running again?

    • @nathanandtiffany
      @nathanandtiffany  Před 6 měsíci

      I would not say I’m a runner. I do some running. When I do it mostly on trails. About 3 months I could do everything.

    I just want to ask about HRT after hysterectomy, is it very important. My daughter will have a hysterectomy in 2 months maybe and she is only 46. Does she really need it

    • @nathanandtiffany
      @nathanandtiffany  Před rokem

      This is one of those things that you should 100% discuss with your doctor. Or your daughter should do that in this case. There is a lot of variables that go into making that decision. Whether or not the ovaries were maintain from the surgery or if they had to be removed. Whether one or both ovaries needed to be removed. The age of the patient. The symptoms that present after the removal of the ovaries. Certainly, this isn’t the appropriate environment to answer any sort of medical questions but hopefully that gives you a little bit of insight and you can get good advice from your/ her providers.

    Please tell me did you had your cervix out. I am doing hysterectomy in 3 weeks everything out.

    • @nathanandtiffany
      @nathanandtiffany  Před 4 měsíci

      Yes I did. The cervix is part of the uterus so is removed. My ovaries were retained.
