    My best childhood memory. I migrated to the USA - New York in 1984 with my 2 youngest siblings. I left a Haiti with no trash on the street, no gangs, no thieves on the streets, doors open wt neighbors looking after your home 🏠 if you stepped out, all students wore cleaned uniforms rich n poor, Lalue for ice cream, bicentnaire, chan mars were rhetorical place to be on Sunday evening after dinner or you play wt friends or visited families or take a stroll 🚶‍♀️ my God many picked up this beautiful, carefree life and got pretty jealous of the way we were so care free. Even schools ended just in time lol half-day elementary school, just in time to come home for diner, ect sleep early and woke up refreshed….

    The biggest mistake Papa Doc made was putting his son in power. Had he put a competent elder like Manigat Haiti would be stable, his son killed the farmers pigs at the behest of TonTon Sam, who is actually worse than TonTon Makout. See the resemblance, both are named Tontons for a reason.

    My husband always says it was better under the duvalier's because his people needed the strict rules of a dictator. It is true that some countries do better with more structure and more rules, i wish there was a happy medium. Duvalier kept up the roads and the economy was really very good, as much of a brute that he was, he cared more for the people and the country than the greedy ones who keep getting elected now who only steal money and want power and don't want to change anything.

      That’s usually what a sociopathic lover would say to his partner after each beating and verbal/emotional abuse. “I did this because I love you. You deserve all the tough love and abusive treatments; otherwise, you will not know how to behave.” Yeah! Dictatorships are great! Why don’t you have your husband become one. I can assure your household will become so lovely and loving. But you won’t risk it. And why? Because you know it’s a fucking lie and misery. Sooner or later, it will drive you to the breaking point. But who gives a fuck?

      @@berthierjean-louis4201 like I said, I wish there was a happy medium, because what has come after him was no better.i think ultimately every leader of Haiti will have to live with that amount of paranoia because you can't make everyone happy you're either working for the bourgeois as a puppet or you help the working class and then you've got a target on your back. My husband grew up in Duvalierville now known as cabaret and he saw the positive and negatives of papa doc. And my husband is a great man, 68 years old and working a full time manual labor job to take care of his brothers sisters nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews in Haiti. Every penny goes there and we live on his social security and mine. And go twice a year. How many diaspora are willing to do that?

    • @berthierjean-louis4201
      @berthierjean-louis4201 Před rokem

      @@YaYaCreationsCrochet “How many in the diaspora are willing to do that?” You asked. Just you!
      You are the only one that live on ration here while sending money over to support those left behind with the occasional (biannual) visit and display. Bravo! You have done well! The rest of the “diaspora” don’t do so well; they keep up living their quiet lives here in the US, forgetting all about how many times the survival business projects they attempted to kickstart get ransacked -better get burned to the ground. They never wasted their energy investing in the education of their folks either: they don’t care about progress. Building schools, teaching and encouraging new trades: those “diaspora” don’t care about that. They want to live peacefully. Oh yeah! Don’t get me talking about how many the rest of diaspora refuse to turn the homes they’ve so well established into shelters for those that have been fleeing Haiti since the reign of your loving Duvaliers.
      Haiti was not better under the Duvaliers. Those who say otherwise are complacent with that regime’s decades-long human rights violations and crimes. They’re too scared to call the monsters by their names, or still have that wool thick over their eyes. Haiti was not better then (seemingly clean streets do not speak for the internal fears faced by the populace); Haiti is not good now either. Haiti under Duvalier has been a cancer that has metastasized by the model of leadership left behind, legacy of the Duvaliers (every new regime is just a version of the old ages. Yeah! New names, new faces; but same inefficiency at mending the people and stopping the bleeding).

    Li genle médiocrité ya se nan san Ayisyen li ye. Mwen oblije gade video sa 2 fwa poum te ka we tout bel bagay mwen li nan commentaires yo.
    Mwen grandi sou JCD, men mwen pat janm we bel peyi nap pale la.
    Cite Soleil , Solino, La Saline, Bel Air, Bolosse, Fort National, yo te toujou exister. San konte tout lot ke mwen pa cité.
    Tout moun ki gen nostalgie dictature lan se moun kite konn ap byen mennen. Ou byen yo te fe pati de ti gwoup boujwa malpwop san vision kap souse san peyi ya depi 1804; ou byen dictature lan te bon pou yo paske li te ba yo moyen pou yo foure men yo nan caisse leta. Kom mwen we ampil commentaires an angle, sa vle di nou abitye we bel peyi. En somme mwen ka di ke nou se yon paket insensé ou byen nou sanwont pase mouche.

      Don't fall for the whitewashed history. It was in the 1980's that tens of thousands of Haitians got on rickety boats to flee the politics and caused by the Duvalier kleptocracy. The mess today is their legacy.
