Aljona Savchenko is one of the most decorated pair Figure skaters of the world. Born in the Ukraine, she represented the country in international competition up until 2002, before she moved to Germany partnering with Robin Szolkowy. The pair won an Olympic bronze medal twice, first at the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver and second, at the 2014 Olympics in Sochi. With partner Bruno Massot, whom she paired with from 2014 on, she finally won Olympic Gold at the 2018 Olympics in PyeongChang. The pair hold the world record for best free skate score and best total score. Enjoy watching all of Savchenko's Olympic performances!

Aljona is my heroine. Her determination, strength, patience and spirit are unbelievable. She never gives up, she's always learning, practicing and discovering techniques, positions, choreographies... Her attitude is something inspiring, I wish I had the same optimistic way to do the things, I wish I learned from what she has shown to everyone. Being that strong and talented, also hardworker and never, never, give up.
Forever my favourite skater. I rooted for her all those years and I cried when she finally got the well deserved gold medal. She's my Queen. 💛
Savchenko/Massot journey was came from the bottom to top. Talent, skills, speed and power across the ice they are really the best partner I've ever seen.

So glad she finally got that gold medal
So many people told her that her dream would forever be out of reach. 🥺 Forever grateful that she didn’t listen to them, and chose to fight for it! That gold medal was 110% deserved and she is a legend in my books.
That gold medal in 2018 was so well deserved! Such a beautiful and heart moving performance! I had tears towards the last part!

Savchenko and Szolkowy were my first favorite pair skaters! Imagine the heartbreak for us fans during 2014 :( But I'm a crying mess (tears of joy) during PyeongChang.
I admire completely to Aljona she’s my idol. Apart that I really adore figure skating she’s one of the most representative skaters!!! She’s so amazing and humble my dream is to know her one day congrats for all the awards that she’s got so deserved everything!! Love Aljona 🙏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

i remember aliona being hyped as an up and coming star either in a figureskating magazine or a website way back when she was still skating with morozov, and i have generally kept her in my radar every olympics. before 2018, i was really more into ice dance, and still am, so i just kept pairsskating under surveillance every olympics since 2002. then i heard the news that she kept on skating with a new partner and took on the legendary chris dean to choreograph their 2018 routines. an ice dance junkie like me just had to tune in to aliona/bruno's olympic year. i was majorly rooting for them during the 2018 olympics

A superb performance, beautifully choreographed by Christopher Dean ( Torvill and Dean). He said that she asked him to choreograph an ice dance routine for pairs skaters. A wonderful collaboration.

I'm sorry, I am not familiar with this sport, what kind of mistake did he do? I know he did something wrong but I can't really tell what it was :(
@@josie4897 it's the number of twists you need to complete in midair. Somewhere in the program, he only completed 2 turns for a technical piece that required a triple.
@@josie4897 at 54:53 they were supposed to do side-by-side triple Salchow jumps, while Aljona completed 3 turns, Bruno only did 2 turns. Thus, the jumps were only counted as double, lowering their scores quite significantly.

She has to be the all time favorite in pairs. Sadly nothing in 2022 Beijing compared to that free skate to La Terre vu de Ciel with Bruno basically as Superman and choreography straight from heaven. I would still out of interest like to see what might have come with her partnering with Morgan Ciprès as he's my favorite male pairs skater. Bruno was perfect for this but he's not quite as in touch with his passionate side as Morgan who was also very tall and built but probably could not have projected Aljona to the same heights.

No, because Aljona was sick during the gala, but they did do their exhibition at the 2018 World Championships, if you want to look it up and watch it.
