    Not religious by any means but just wanted to note that Jesus himself would be the greatest opposer of Trump, were he alive today. Why?:
    Jesus preaches truthfulness and integrity, 2 things Trump doesn't possess.
    Jesus emphasized humility, service, inclusivity and care for the marginalized. Trump does exactly the opposite.
    Jesus preaches against violence while Trump incites it.
    Jesus tended to the sick without asking money for it in return and he divided food amongst his followers without expecting payment (social security anyone?)
    Jesus frequently critiqued the pursuit of wealth and the dangers of greed.
    Basically, Jesus was a socialist.

      @NeilDonald-y5h Před 7 měsíci +1

      You don't. Christianity is weakened when it aligns itself with government. It is often at its strongest when persecuted by those who govern. Christianity is most often tainted when it becomes civic and political, and that started in the fourth century CE when Constantine made it legal and fashionable, culturally acceptable. Jesus said one cannot serve two masters, God and mammon, the latter being economic and political power. Many churches have tried to do this and become state religions and the results have been disastrous and characterized by persecution and mass slaughter at times. One can certainly be a citizen of a country, but that does not mean adopting politically corrupt means.

I agree that the government shouldn’t tell people how to worship (within reason, obviously things like human sacrifice, pedophilia, kidnapping, honor killings etc cannot be permitted, regardless of someone’s religious convictions) but at the same time religious people cannot make laws that compel people to act, or not to act in a specific way, solely based on religious beliefs about morality. Sir -- I consider myself a christian , a former long term R and a true American. Having now said that I also believe that evangelicals have done more to promote the growth of agnosticsm/atheism than the devil could have ever hoped for. I don't see any of THOSE people telling you to quit believing your beliefs -- why are you telling them to give up theirs/ It's FINE that you believe the way you do -- but to push YOUR beliefs on others is WRONG. Also as a retired teacher there IS and SHOULD BE a separation of church and state......even the founding fathers believed that. So just STOP IT. If a person chooses to accept religion -- that's great! But personally I would NEVER push my beliefs on anyone....neither should you OR the evangelicals. What I see w/ all the religions of this world -- we could learn more about the diversity of people and be more accepting of THEIR beliefs and choices......I do believe that would be what Jesus would do.
