Will was able to smack Rock. Sit back down and enjoy the rest of the show. Win an award. Get a standing ovation. Then proceed to give the longest speech in Oscar history without being cut off by music. This is privilege. This is Hollywood.
Will shouldn't be above the law many are in America that average person would of been arrested and charged but Will gets a standing ovation and a pass. Sickening double standards just because he's rich and famous should not automatically protect anyone.
Couldn't have said it better
entitled, privilege, money, power. They should've escorted his behind outdoors and have one of the Williams sisters accept the award.
Plus, the likes of denzel Washington, sam Jackson and orhers giving him high-five, patting it on the back, and he echoed what Denzel Washington advised him, "that when he, a person, reached a level in life, the devil will come at him", paraphrasing
But sad sad sad sad, to see people for whom they are and that is privileged bully and abusive both verbally and physically with that assault and battery with intent upon another
Black people have complained about white privilege for years and now, Will is showing his privilege the black people are upset get a life
And i still love will
The irony is that Will waited all of this time for his well deserved Oscar and he even beat out Denzel but his Oscar might get taken away due to an impulsive reaction on his end. He ruined his own moment.
I don't think that they'll take his Oscar because he earned it. However they may ban him for a while.
Harvey Weinstein kept his and he’s done way worst.
@@MsBrittbratt And Woody Allen, Roman Polanski, Casey Affleck, Dustin Hoffman.....
@@MsBrittbratt Mel Gibson raging alcoholic and domestic abuser ass too
That's why we should all know he is not well and should be discussing this from that perspective. He wouldn't ruin his moment on purpose 🤷🏾♀️
Chris Rock should have won an Oscar for professionalism and dignity.
If the police made you a hashtag, I would give zero damns.
Really? Why is everybody treating a worthless statue like its valuable? It's not. 98% of winners careers descend faster than a speeding bullet after the win & IMO aside from the 2% like multiple winners - winning the Oscar looks like a curse. A prestige award they claim, yet the attendees & winners lifestyles are a hot mess = comprised of pedophiles (Allen & Polansky) rapist (Weinstein & countless others) druggies, etc. Don't let a spotlight & expensive clothes fool you.
I totally agree with this comment 👍
Absolutely 💯
I agree 👍
When Chris said Jada is about to star in G.I. Jane was a compliment cause Jada don't really do movies much anymore. I didn't think the joke was meant to be hurtful.
There was no way that was a compliment. If I remember correctly he was laughing when he said it.
ETA The audience laughed and so did he saying, "that was a nice one".
@@chantellea9938 What he did was bring Jada back into the fold of the Academy by mentioning her after her boycott campaign in 2016, with a joke based on her new look. He wasn't jabbing at her condition.
@@corneliuswhite5139 I disagree
Ur right, it wasn't.
That’s *your* opinion. How are y’all gonna tell someone a joke wasn’t hurtful to them? Y’all social media thugs are just a bunch of insensitive folks who think celebrities are made of steel
1. School shootings traumatized me
2. The 14 year old kid that was thrown from that Disney ride and his death was captured on video traumatized me
3. The 12 and 14 yr old cousins that had a gun and subsequently were shot on IG live traumatized me
And Black people getting shot for jogging, in their homes eating ice cream, playing video games and much more……that is traumatizing. 😭💔
Thank you sis for showing us what real traumatic stories look like....
Exactly!!!!
YESSSS!!! I think Wanda Sykes being Traumatized is A bit of B S...!!! She may be Upset,But hardly TRAUMATIZED 🤣🤣
@@sheilaking-davis4712 agreed all the nasty shit they do in Hollywood and a public smack traumatized them? bull shit smh....
Yes there is a campaign against Will,,,, it’s called ACCOUNTABILITY. Without the campaign, Will Smith would just get away with what he did unscathed. So I’m glad people are speaking up because he obviously thought he could do that.
Will is a whole damn mess. Out of line truly
It was bad enough when it happened I really wish they would stop showing it over and over again all over the place. I really can't watch it anymore, I fast forward every time. I can't imagine how humiliated Chris must feel.
Me too very hard to watch.
Me too
I do too
I cried
Same here 🤦🏾♀️
Will would have been in such a better place if he apologized to Chris during his speech because we would have understood that he snapped uncontrollably, But…to hold on to it and be seen partying later that night was in poor taste.
EXACTLY and I waited for it too! I was shocked when he didn’t
Your right...instead of trying to justify his actions in his speech. All that crying..did he have nervous breakdown?!
@@negril7446 probably so if he realized he F’d up. Then to have Richard Williams come out and condemn his actions. Will must be loosing his mind.
Maybe he didn't feel bad for doing it
Chris Rock had sex with Jada before. And the joke is a veiled stab insinuating that they see each other again lol
So Will Smith slapped him
You guys leave me alone. I was and still traumatized right here in my sitting room in Nigeria 🧐. Will took away the shine for everyone who won an Oscar and it's not fair
Absolutely 💯
Was very selfish act...definitely not fair for others....there's no excuse...
Me too on my Mozambican couch.
You'll be just fine, love
Why is Oscar so important to you? What do you get from it to concern yourself w/ shine or no shine for people you don't know?
@@carbar3936 but you are here commenting on people you don't know either
Like HODA SAID “ ITS NEVER ABOUT THE THING”, love that quote. Meaning, whoever you’re Really mad at or angry about , most people take it out on the wrong person! Like Will took his Anger out on Chris!
If The Academy "asked" Will and or Jada to leave, I think it may have been worded like this:..."Would YOU LIKE to leave?"..."Not YOU need to leave."
Exactly!!
Jada broke his ass emotionally. And now his reputation is shot. He can kiss his white female audience goodbye (and that means bye to those 25 million dollar per movie paychecks 💵) And I guarantee u Jada will be gone with the wind fabulous when his clout & money is gone.
What would be so screwed up and tragic irony is if they get a divorce down the road
@@diggidy5367 absolutely....
She better stay with him after all that....clearly she egged him on...
She could've tried to hold him back from going on that stage unannounced but instead it's shown of her having a very noticeable smirkish facial expression of approval once after Will S sat back in his seat....
messed up and straight up privilege and bullying....they weren't the only ones getting "roasted" in that room...and compared to some of others, the smiths got it easy that night....
No excuse ever for assaulting Chris...especially during the live show...very selfish and overshadowed everything and everyone else's accomplishments as well....
Consequences must be dealt with...💯
Diva was right about this situation. Chris had started this whole thing. Chris came out aiming for Jada.
Q got it wrong this time . Claudia and Al are spot on . Chris Rock did nothing wrong , he was doing his job as a comedian .I feel bad for Chris Rock, that was so wrong (SMH).Will Smith is a hypocrite cause he did laugh at the joke. Peace & Luv
He did laugh an also they rehearse the jokes in front Will….. so its like will took advantage of him by slapping him on live tv knowing he knew what was rehearse…../ wth
I’ve often awkwardly laughed off jokes that made me uncomfortable and pissed me off. He was on the spot and was caught off guard.
@Stephanie : 🙌🏾
Thank you!
Q What if Will had slap a Gay ore Transgender 😯 your reaction would be totally different !!!
What's crazy is that Jada boycotted the Oscars in 2016 in defense of Will, only for it to be her own husband to ruin it.🤦 He got his award but all that she did was for nothing.
Think about it . She boycotted it for her man. Then they make her the joke of the night like “ here ya go will and fuck your wife ☺️” and shut up about it .
Why didn't they rip Laverne Cox a new one, when the word "entanglement" was thrown out there, but a GI Jane joke set you off?
Thank you for saying that
They would’ve been accused of trans bashing. The media would turn that into something else.
Often times its the Messenger and not the message. Besides how stupid will they look attacking everybody who want to sic them for more spotlight? Laverne was wrong too for that & surprised she went there.
That's probably one of the straws that ultimately broke the camel's back.
Look we can’t judge how Will felt… sometimes people do nervous laughs… this is about more! It’s bad enough…. Honestly non of our opinions matter…. Chris, Will, and Jada must figure this one out 🤷🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️
Just toxic. Justifying bullshit so that a man who is dead ass wrong isn't being held accountable.
Then why did you share your opinion if it doesn't matter you contradicted yourself . An A list Star assaults someone on live tv internationally and we can't judge l take it you're pro violence and excusing bad behavior , a dumb comment.
We can judge how he felt. Because we all saw how he took out his feelings in front of the world. Miss me with this toxic BS that some people In the black community are trying to push.
@@alicialynnette9889 you said it perfectly thank you so much.
@Made from the dust of the ground you just proved that it wasn't an insult by trying to justify bullshit congratulations.
Comparing your brother's alopecia to a woman's alopecia is different in many ways, Jada could indeed be missing her lashes & eyebrows too but has had cosmetic enhancements ( lash extensions & eyebrow fillers). For all we know Jada could have an additional underlying illness that she has NOT announced just like Chadwick Boseman did & her alopecia is just ONE symptom. You have to be CAREFUL minimizing people's illnesses.
Also, Jada is an actress in Hollywood who is pressured to live up to certain standards. I have alopecia too and struggle with getting on Zoon calls many times per day.
Amy is allowed to assign any word to her feelings and because shes white doesn't give u the right to say otherwise even if the word is too extreme.
Very true, I’m a fan and only know these people on screen cause that was very triggering and painful to watch for any person 🥺🥺😭😞I don’t like how they invalidating her feels because of how they feel about her, not cool😏
I bet if I was sitting in that audience, and got up, strolled to the stage and slapped Chris Rock, I would BE UNDER THE JAIL 4 days later with NO bail. It's the privilege of it all for me... SMH...
Lol under the jail 🤣🤣 no but fr tho.
Well, you are not a celebrity so no you, a fan, could not walk up to the stage and slap Chris Rock. Y’all need to stop comparing apples to oranges. Will has a happy go lucky persona, so I think it took a minute for people to realize he was serious. We all thought it was skit. As you noticed the audience laughed after Will slapped Chris because they thought it was a skit. They didn’t realize he was serious until he sat back down and was yelling at Chris.
Will is a broken man because of Jada. It's not apples to oranges. Where was security. He should have gotten thrown out the show after that girly performance Jada along with him. Whoever presented his award should have said because Will decided to go all ghetto and ruin this show I will accept this award for him"
1. Why would you be in that audience? 2. You're assuming. 3. Why do people assume & suppose from the facts at hand?
I don’t think security could’ve done anything about Will going up on the stage. It’s not like he was a random person, he’s a celebrity and I doubt at that point they would’ve known whether or not it was a part of the show. Everyone in the audience thought it was a part of the show until the second time he Chris to keep his wife’s name of his mouth.
Exactly! I think Q is a clown! He thinks he is analytical but clearly he isn’t.
thats why he said when he walks BACK to hs chair
Jada complimented Chris’s 2016 hosting performance. She had no problem with it. It is on video her admitting she liked it.
Wow! Thanks for sharing that. In the same light, I read that Will had no problem with Chris Rock's joke during rehearsal. Then of course, he laughed when it was delivered on stage, before Jada's reaction. Pretty hypocritical to go onstage and assault someone.
@@delsijoy705 That's definitely not true. The joke was ad-libbed and WIll was not at the rehearsal anyway, he wasn't presenting.
She also said that's His Job and it comes with the Territory. She was definitely okay with it. She said years ago When she and Chris were Promoting Madagascar that she rocked with Chris and that He's a Comedian. So she understood the assignment.
@MB Yeppers
@Funky- Yes it was traumatizing specially for comedians who now are open to somebody coming up from the audience when they don’t like one of their jokes and physically assaulting them. It’s ok Will Smith got away with it. The 3 ladies who hosted were there and were totally tramatized.
Chris may not be the bigger man...but he was the bigger man...

I agree with Funky. Will should’ve been escorted from the building. But he earned the Oscar. They could’ve just given it to him on the way out . . . “Oh, take this with ya. You won Best Actor. Here ya go. “
Jada could have accepted it on his behalf.
@@adrenna1973 wow! That would’ve been a sight to behold! 😝
Will Smith disgraceful action ruin everyone big night ar the Oscar....they better give grave consequences for his narcissistic action .

Alopecia comes in different forms/stages, I have it and still have my eyelashes and eyebrows. Will should have given a shout out to all women who have bald heads.
Exactly...there's also different types of alopecia. They just talk crap without any facts esp Claudia
Trauma does not mean you have PTSD. It is defined as a DEEPLY disturbing and distressing experience directly (Rock) or indirectly (hosts; people in that room) experience... On the biggest night of their careers, a fellow colleague assaulted their friend (guest on their show) its "not normal" so yea, for them it is probably traumatic! Not everybody involved would define it like that but that's their experience, We can't tell people how to feel. They never said they were more traumatized than Rock (thank God he's in therapy).
therapy for a slap lmao girl bye. trauma is a bit of a stretch. Lets all play a game where we try not to be victims about trivial things when Ukrainians are being literally blown up!!
I was traumatized… it was shocking
@@dangshebad12Same. I watched it on TV and I was traumatized.
Anyone who is traumatized by this is a weakling. And I despise weaklings
@@joshmm3 Not disputing your point, but I wanted to clarify that Chris Rock didn't seek therapy because he got slapped. He's been seeing a therapist for some years now.
At this point if I was Will I would give back that damn Oscar. People are just too much at this point.
The Oscar win is popularity, financial, and ego thing for a so-called job well done, & only a pay increase if you're not at the top of the payscale for your next acting job. However, he is at the top payscale, and I thought about him returning it if the Academy gets unbalanced w/ their b.s. consequences. Now that would be the ultimate kick in their face, because the Academy is so full of dung.
Jada said something to Will after he laughed that triggered him to the stage. She has not shown respect for Will in the past - cold as ice. Lupita was sitting between them. I want to know what she saw after Will laughed. I also wonder what Jada's reaction was seeing Will on the stage and screaming. Will is still to blame for his actions. I'm just saying that Jada has most likely been subjecting him to narcissistic abuse.
I have been saying this for a long time...Jada is a narcissist!
STOP with the lies. Nobody saw Jada give Will a look or gesture. Lying to incite people is a form of bullying too.
She was enjoying it. Sat there in her high in mighty moment. Will Smith needs to just divorce her. His kids are grown and being a mess on their own.
These women are professional comedians who saw a colleague get assaulted on the Oscar stage executing his job without any consequences for it.
As professionals, you don't think that they have the right to be traumatized? As a comic, how do you return to your job on Monday like nothing happened?
This!!! 💯
He literally agrees with them but is mad they have an opinion. So dumb
I'm sooooo with Q...thank you for saying that!
Q is condemning people for doing what he is doing. Like it's okay for him to voice his opinion but it's wrong for any other celebrity to do that. It really makes no sense whatsoever.
There are different forms of alopecia, your whole head does not have to be bald. Also, it's a difference when you cut your hair verses losing your hair.
Who cares Jada is not special
YET, Will Smith should never have put his hands on Chris Rock. Regardless of who comments, or, what anyone else has done or did do in their lives. Will Smith was wrong, and, it's much much worse when he did it on that platform, and, who he did it to. There is no justification for it. The hypocrisy is real - everyone saw that Will laughed as well - maybe that's who Will was angry at - himself. Will and Jada have some SERIOUS issues, many of which Jada delights in sharing (that's the truth), and, Will appears to be uncomfortable sharing. Will Smith has emerged over the last ten years as a very Emasculated man, primarily because of the way Jada shares their personal lives, and, her MANIFOLD resentments of him. Jada has shared about his shortcomings sexually, her reluctance to marry him, and, about her love life with other men while they were married - all of these things played a factor in Will's very poor choice to hurt his friend. Add to the fact that Will and Jada know that Chris Rock has Asperger Syndrome - for which he struggles with every day. No, Will Smith was wrong. What they both need for people to do is to stop trying to unjustly rationalize this, and, to start collectively telling them to close ranks, step away, and get REAL counseling (Not no Red Table Talk), and, to look to God. It's very apparent that even their children could benefit from an emotional and spiritual retreat. In all honesty, Will Smith is blessed, because, what he did, would have landed the majority of African Americans, and anyone of African Heritage, in jail, with a lawsuit, or, worse.
@@japerkins3565 Preach very well written 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 people are weird excusing what he did n blaming chris
@@japerkins3565 No, he shouldn't have. I was only speaking on the alopecia not the whole situation. Because some people think that alopecia only looks one way, like Claudia did.

Thank you. Will is a goofy, he doesn't know who to stand up to. He is wrong, beyond doubt.
I mean he did stand up to the Academy and they said Of Course sir, would you like us to shine the award again.
True ...Will been chasing Fame, didn't pay attention to Jada..... He's just now coming back home and doesn't know where to start.....It confusing......
This is not a black or black woman issue this is a PRIVILEGE issue!! Celebrities think they can do things that us ordinary people COULD NEVER get away with and once people realise that then everyone will be on the same page!
He didn't say "that was a light one" he said "that was a nice one"
All of the time Will has been around people know this is not his character and regular behavior but yall still don't show this man grace. He's human and will mess up. They have been speaking on their life which a lot of people had questions about. But since they have been giving answers and it's not to yall liking and they're not the "perfect couple" yall thought they were, so now yall in your feelings. Allow people to mess up and learn to evolve. Even though his behavior was unacceptable, and not because he was at the Oscars. It would be unacceptable anywhere. I think this is why Chris did not file charges.
Thank you
Not to mention, I think Chris knew he said something wrong that’s why he wouldn’t press charges. He had to know he is partly responsible for this whole entire thing. And rightfully so. I’m tired of comedians getting a pass. Somebody will knock your block off you say the wrong thing…as we all saw.
I can understand why so many people are labeling this as traumatizing. Seeing one of your peers assault another one of your peers during an awards ceremony is shocking. It makes you wonder how low someone else will go next time.
They are not traumatized Chris Rock is their friend and their brother in comedy all of the comedians are banning together to take Will down..Im not saying it shouldn't be any consequences.. but all the comedians and comedy platforms are on him..
@@tashawnasanders77 they’re not trying to take Will down. They’re trying to spread the message that assaulting someone for telling a joke about your or one of your family members isn’t acceptable. Their job is to make fun of people so this could have happened to any of them. If people think it’s ok for Will Smith to get on stage and assault a comedian for telling jokes about his wife on live tv what’s going to stop a non famous person from doing the same thing during a performance at a comedy club?
@Made from the dust of the ground What you’re describing is trauma. Trauma is an emotional response to a distressing experience. These comedians saw one of their colleagues get assaulted for doing what they do every day in their line of work and that was probably distressing. They are now speaking out because they don’t want this to keep happening. That’s an emotional response. You put that all together and you get trauma.
I don’t care if the joke was about her condition, you have to have tough skin. You don’t get to “snap” off on people from words. None of us can do that on our jobs without being fired. All of them are too seasoned for that and stole moments from others that they can’t get back. Uncalled for and embarrassing… I’m sadden by our community defending this type of behavior in a climate where our youth suffer to care about life itself. This is sad..
Nobody needs to have tough skin if you people stop being bullies. Chris set the anti bullying movement back to when it was ok to be sexist, racist, heterosexist, and etc... Sounds like Trump.
Like the n word
Will definitely over reacted the people defending his behavior are equally toxic . It's a Pandora's box so now anyone can run up on comedians and punch and slap them if they don't like there joke. Will and Jada are a mess she didn't even bother to try and stop him she approved of the violence .
@@seanpug1510 you are so right. The people defending his behaviour are toxic. They should know though, not every comedian is Chris Rock. Will could have been in a body bag by now had it tried that bs with someone else. For all those supporting him because the joke was “insensitive” I’m so sorry for y’all because y’all are are at best naive - just make sure you don’t try this will’s reaction at home or anywhere else because you will wish you had just laughed it off!
@@teresamarie7460 he’s a comedian…. That’s not bullying. Furthermore, why would someone care so much of what someone thinks or says??? They are Hollywood royalty and Chris can’t take that away. They too have a platform to snap back with a joke or two not a slap.
Too bad if one of us regular people ( non celebrities) would have slapped someone we’d be in jail and having to get bailed out after the Oscars escorted us out
You're right about that
I agree with Claudia about the slap however she can’t tell people with the disease how to feel. Idc if her cousin or friends have the disease or if Jada’s hair is long or short. It didn’t have the patches before and the disease doesn’t give you a choice and Jada wanted a choice of how to wear her hair. I agree the slap was wrong but you can’t tell Jada how to deal with her disease.
She cut it because of the patches and bald spots..im convinced ppll don't like Jada no matter what she's the blame.🤦🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️
This! She pissed me off so bad with that!
@@tashawnasanders77 I agree.
please look at pictures of Jada's head. she has a full head of hair follicles. alopecia makes your scalp smooth. she does not have patches. she simply has a buzz cut. even in her video the spot she showed as sign of alopecia is very precise and in rectangular shape. a plastic surgeon says it's the typical incision made for certain surgeries and doesn't know why Jada would show that as alopecia. this was way before the Oscars ceremony.
Claudia said you cannot tell. Ain't nobody checking for Jada, Chris might not have known.
Will Smith action traumatized me because I had too clutch my invisible pearls especially when he start yelling like a Mad man .....Will Smith destroyed my Oscar party night ...and I would never forget it.
Traumatized really!!! Then u need to go hide your Karen face , everyday life is more than that

😂
I'm just shocked that there is no security protocol at the Oscars which hosts the most influential and bankable movie stars in Hollywood. 😳
I literally said this, it’s so much money and talented people on there I’m thinking security should be at every end of somewhere😂
There is but it doesn't apply to Hollywood royalty.
actually there was. That's why I was such a long pause for them coming back from the break there was talk about Will being escorted out of the oscars. that is protocol if anything happened. But the victim Chris Rock did not want to press charges wanted to just move on
@@tamikahodges6089 Being escorted out has nothing to due with pressing charges. People get escorted off of premises all the time without consideration of pressing charges. When someone refuses to leave private property when asked to then he is considered trespassing and the police can be called to remove them.
@@vrjanice2 exactly the victim didn't press charges.. period can we move on.
Still Q, even in 2016 I am sure a script was written for Chris as in 2022? So why do they take it so personally with Chris?
Chris wrote that in 2016 he was the host..
Ok so I totally agree with Claudia on this. After everyone blew up my phone because they know I was asleep lol, I got to see the entire segment of the joke and the aftermath.i didn't think it was an alopecia joke at all. I felt Chris was in shock as well but almost reacted. He composed himself quickly but still a little shell shocked went on as the consummate professional that he is. I agree that this wasn't about protecting black women at all. I told my husband that Will snapped because he has pinned up anger about all the craziness he has gone thru because of his wife. I love Will and really hope he seeks help. Now as far as being traumatized, Amy Schumer didn't see the incident so yeah maybe traumatized was not the right word of choice but for the record, you do not have to be directly involved in an incident to be traumatized. As a comedian, (playing devil's advocate) any one of the ladies could have felt traumatized because they do stand up and thought oh my gosh this could happen to me. Lol At any rate, I pray for healing of all parties and hope that we as a people are not set back a other 100 years because of this.
You’re not the first person to say they hope or that this incident sets black people back 50 to a hundred years. I just do not agree. I stand on my own accomplishments. And I am the only one who has to pay and or learn from my mistakes. Or lack of good judgment. I wish we would and people of other races, stop thinking or saying that the actions or words of Oprah, Tyler Perry. Or who ever else. Speaks for or represents all black people. That is Ludacris. I am sure that every time there is a school shooting all white people don’t hold their head down in shame. If they did there would be different gun laws.
@@moniquefagan5316 Unfortunately, minorities do not have that luxury!
@@jk9084 I don’t understand your reply
@@moniquefagan5316 I meant minorities are seen as one group and of 1 of us fits the stereotype all of us are punished for it.
Did you know that Will said he always laughs first in awkward situations?
It’s in his book. However, I feel that maybe if they were offended, which she had the right not to like a joke, even if others feel it’s not that serious. They should have left. No slap.. nothing! Just gracefully left. I’m glad Chris didn’t react. I hope they can get over this, Will needs to be banned, but still receive his award.
He earned it GI Jane reference to us, isn’t that big of a deal, but Chris, being someone who did an entire documentary on Black Women’s hair, could have joked on anyone else, why her again? The joke wasn’t funny& Will’s reaction wasn’t appropriate!
I've been saying that people sometimes laugh when something is said that they don't like as a coping mechanism, I do it a lot because people are fixated on my slim frame & in Africa people keep thinking that is related to not eating well when really it is just how my body is built. And so I usually take those comments that come very often with a smile on my face even though sometimes in my head I'm like why can't people just get over it already. But when you add all the other stuff this couple has been dealing with, I can see how that joke might have been more of a tipping point for him and the laugh before then was not about the joke but a coping mechanism
I wholeheartedly agree. 💯💯
That was my mechanism as well when people said things to me about my weight& other things. To some, being called skinny isn’t a big deal, but if it’s something that is triggering or hurtful to you, how can anyone tell you how to feel about it?
I agree with you! That book Chris wrote should have been a reference as in food for thought🤔 speaking for myself; "hair comments are touchy subject for me." I think black women as a whole are constantly disrespected behind hair, way too much.
A lot of people laughed at the joke so it was funny to many and GI Jane was beautiful in the movie just as Jada is beautiful with ALL of her short hairstyles even before the alopecia and the moment wasn’t awkward until he saw his wife’s face. Did he laugh first when Jada bragged about how strong and brave Tupac was and when he learned about the entanglement? If he did I’m sure the looks and laugh was far different and more sarcastic
Yes they should have watched the interview with Will Smith and Oprah years ago and maybe they'll see things a little different
You can’t tell people what is traumatizing. You only want to validate extreme trauma and that’s your problem, but don’t try to pass it as fact.
The definition of traumatizing is
“subject to lasting shock as a result of an emotionally disturbing experience or physical injury.”
So yes she can be traumatized or in a prolonged state of shock! She is a comedian and sees herself in Chris’s shoes. You don’t need to see blood to be traumatized.
@Pippie's Room Great point!

I’d sue the the Academy for not going straight to commercial and not having security drag Will out, promptly. Because, once he attacked Chris he forfeited the privilege of being there and being on that stage for ANY reason. Definitely not to make a speech. At that point your Oscar gets mailed.
This situation has definitely displayed a lot. Will is not justified in anyway for his behavior. He should keep his award (maybe)but never be allowed back and should be held responsible to the fullest extent of the law. You can not assault someone in front of millions of people and walk away like it’s nothing. Jada did not protect you as your wife either. I’m going to be frank…. Jada will NEVER be up for an Oscar in her lifetime….but her husband has been working towards that. As his woman why on earth would you condone or give a pass to the behavior. If I was her I would have told Lupita to switch seats with me and hold his hand to calm him. I would’ve told my husband it’s not the time or place and tonight is his moment to shine. I would’ve told my husband to handle it later and thank him for loving and honoring me. I would’ve soothed my husband in that moment so he doesn’t make a mistake he later regrets. That moment wasn’t about her but about her husband and she didn’t care enough to understand that. That moment was also about so many amazing black professionals as well. The show was tainted and the tone of the show changed because of that moment. All the wins and opportunities not recognized because of that 10 sec moment. It’s completely unacceptable. Everyone is saying…. What if Will slapped a white comedian but I’m asking WHAT IF Will was a white actor who stormed the stage and slapped a black comedian or actor. We as the black community would be outraged and yelling “off with his head”. We would want all awards to be taken and charges to be pressed. There would be NO GRACE within our community towards that white actor….but why are we allowing grace when someone within our community messes up. It is okay to hold ourselves and those that are apart of our community accountable. It’s okay to provide correction with love. We can’t keep pacifying the behavior and stand by when we see those of our community like Kayne and Will and keep silent. I feel absolutely horrible for Chris and no one should be embarrassed like that on national tv. If it were me I would have embarrassed our community that day because I would have fought back. Chris wouldn’t have been wrong if he did defend himself. Man y’all we really need to think about all of this and truly be honest with ourselves, the situation and realize we have a lot of work to do as a community.
Amen sis!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It seems like Jada gave Will the nod or look to do it. Plenty of moments to stop him.
Q was so on point here. Good work
The G.I. Jane reference was to her head being shaved not about her alopecia.
Yes thank you. He never said anything about her condition
Thank you
The black hate is so real white ppl would have united and covered their race even if they were wrong and I’m not say will isn’t but definitely they hate sound so strong especially from Claudia dang!!!!! Sounds like you want him too go down he made a mistake is he not human y’all madder than Chris rock🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Chris Rock shared that he was diagnosed with NVLD (Non-Verbal Learning Disorder) That’s why he was smiling at Will Smith when he was walking towards him at the Academy Awards as one of the symptoms of NVLD is that people miss social cues such as facial expression’s or tone of voice. People with this disorder often struggle with maintaining friendships etc.
Is this on the Autism spectrum ? I'm a nurse and feel bad for women with alopecia, it's not just about hair. The whole situation is bad. I wish Chris had stuck with the script and Will should have took the mike and talked about alopecia. Ugh !!!
I didn't know that. He got the non verbal cue from Jada after the joke. Chris bout to make a grip from all of this. Hope they can hash it out in person.
TMZ played a video Jada filmed 4 days before the Oscar’ talking about how she dealing with alopecia. She said having alopecia doesn’t bother her, she doesn’t care what ppl think or say about her bald head and she loves it. Chris joke didn’t bother her. Remember, just before the Oscar’s, Jada and Will posted photos of themselves saying ” we choose chaos.”
Majority of black women say they love their natural hair. Yet, stay wearing other women hair and get mad when someone asks if it their real hair.
FUNKY that’s exactly what happened. You could tell. They had discussed him not talkin about Jada. It mighta been years ago, or recent💯.
That Joke wasn’t in the run through apparently. So it’s more than what we know.
Comedians have planned material and any good comedian has it in him to work the crowd and find material and find things to make fun of. The joke he made about Jada and 2016 was your boy called in the Oscars when you weren't even invited. That was it point blank that was it. That was in no way inflammatory. And this is what gets him heated when since that entanglement came out people have been calling Jada all kinds of nasty skanks and everything else her name has been in everybody's mouth literally since that entanglement situation came out. But G.I gets you heated ?come on now
Shout to Chris Rock for taking one for the team and saving Black America from going over the cliff that Will Smith took us to in that moment. Chris handled that horrific moment with (world) class, strength, dignity, and next level professionalism
The moment Black Americans stop feeling collectively responsible for the actions of individual black people will be the 1st true step into freedom.
That slap could effect a viewer, the same as a person witnessing a smack on the street. It came out of no where, from a person who no one would have guessed. Could see the aggression and how Smith was not in a healthy space. Curious if the audience clapping was the faun and befriend response instead of fight or flight. They were all in shock and questioning their reality that they did what they acted normal. “I don’t want to be next so let’s walk on egg shells and finish this asap!”
While everyone is talkin about the slap and wether or not it’s justified, it’s the crying like he’s the victim up on stage that puts me off. Will made a choice, knew the consequence and did it cause he thought he needed to. Violence is wrong and he should take the consequence cause it’s important to him. We all have had to make choices like that and the rest of us have to be accountable.
There’s no way I would let my husband go up there and embarrass himself like that. As he was about to get up I would have stopped him, whispered in his ear, “I love you, let’s deal with him later,” kissed him, held his hand and watched the show. A Lioness knows how to calm a Lion. Jada got some ish with her… 🤨
That part sis
EXACTLY! This is what a loving wife would have done.
What you said!!!!!!! ☺️
She was smiling afterwards
I'm sure Jada knew in advance he'd do that. (Eye rolling) but good for you your should, coulda would've calmed your lion. Yeah!
This wasn’t about that joke. This is about the fact that his wife has publicly humiliated him for years and he needed a moment of redemption on a public stage. Chris was the easiest target. He could have checked Chris backstage if it was THAT offensive. I hate that he ruined his big moment and that his wife enabled it. He has to leave her for his sanity.
The academy is dead wrong for not coming to the defense of Chris. I agree with Claudia, this shit is a mess. They put their business out there but can’t take the heat. Will need to run that Oscar back, period.
One thing for certain and One thing for sure, in my Q voice Big Willie would be paying me for my Pain & Embarrassment & Trauma in the some of 50 million for that 👋🏽..
Will Smith is going to get the embarrassment the academy will be taking that Oscar back, guarantee you. Will behavior was unacceptable ‼️ and he is not dispensable.
More like 500 million
‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️
I could see 5 million and that is still excessive.
They should have went to a commercial break and REMOVED Will from the building..Period!
Ever since Will had to explain himself time after time about his personal life...it has been because of Jada she messed with him embarrassing him time and time again. It really makes you think Jada runs Will he laughed at the joke it took 1 look from Jada 4 Will 2 loose it 🤯 Jada embarrassed him again. For me is the excuses he assaulted Chris Rock I'm glad the mood is changing and Jim Carey is on the side of the Law.
Right!!! And I feel like she is lying about having alopecia because she even said that the reason she shaved her head was because she was supporting her daughter. So she ( Jada ) be lying about everything. Now who’s the narcissist in this relationship?!?!?
Will Smith is going to have the embarrassment the academy is going to ask for that Oscar back. He is not dispensable and his behavior is unacceptable ‼️
Right, imagine going thought that and the world is looking and commenting and laughing. Men have fragile egos. But I think Chris understands that and that's why no charges were filed. But Will need to speak to Chris face to face with a remorseful apology.
@@ing-yam-san After she shaved her head she noticed the spots. But her hair was already falling out.
Jada shows traits of a narcissists.....
In my opinion, many people hold these celebrities to a standard whereby it makes them feel/believe they are superior. That being said, many celebrities talk down to others, abuse others sexually, emotionally, and in this current Will Smith debacle physically. In my opinion, Tiffany Hadish, Will Smith and others in Hollywierd and the entertainment industry have grown in their celebrity but not in classiness. At the end
of the day, when these celebrities get off of the toilet their feces smell putrid just like everyone else, so people STOP idolizing these celebrities whom many are not worth the time nor effort.
Nah it was traumatic to see.... I cried watching Chris stand there... utter shock, disbelief, embarrassment... traumatizing
Please run to your nearest therapist
Hollywood shoves imagery of physical violence all day everyday and they have the audacity to cry trauma over a slap when life imitates “art?” Please! I do agree that Will should’ve handled it offstage and that there has to be a consequence because if it was the other way around or someone with less accolades they would’ve been escorted out. The other problem is people cry violence over physical contact but we have to start acknowledging that words do hurt, just ask all the people who have unlifed themselves because of bullying.
ITA. Words are violent too and lasts longer than healing of bruises in a lot of cases that can also result in death. Suicide is often due to folk replaying some words told to them that was more than they can bare.
I agree with you so much, these host should hyping up something that really wasn't a traumatic event.
Assault is illegal; jokes aren’t
@@Thanosdidtherighthing assault is illegal in a country were slavery once was legal WTF
@@Thanosdidtherighthing and bullying should be also, guess enough people haven’t harmed themselves over it yet.
Thank you Funky 👍🏾.. Traumatized my Fanny 🧐.. Chris didn't deserve to be slapped but the joke to me wasn't funny. I read somewhere it was not approved. It was horrible all around. Although Jada feels good some days doesn't mean she wants to hear jokes about it 😔. I know I feel good about my hair or lack of sometimes. But, never do I want to hear a joke about it.
When Will said in his speech that he wants “to be a vessel for love ... and to protect people, and to be a river to his people», I got mixed emotions as his actions at the Oscars made it void. Glad he won an Oscar. I just hope we will not have another red table talk in the upcoming weeks or an interview with Oprah. It’s time for Will to go to therapy and put in the work needed to make change.
You wrote an entire dissertation about THEIR marriage. Now Jada is a monster and Will needs psychiatric counseling? Man get a life and a woman of your on if you even like women and focus on that.
Oh, the lawsuits ARE coming.
Agree with Q, the Academy is lying about asking Will to leave
Why would the Academy lie? If so, that’s a dumb move. They would be setting themselves up for liable. And Will’s rep is taking a hit right now. So, if the Academy is lying about what happened. That would give Will just cause to sue them.
@@RecordStoreDeva I agree it would be a dumb move for them to lie. Seeing the footage of other actors coming up and talking to Will during the break , it doesn’t appear as if he was asked to leave. And if they really wanted him to leave, they would’ve had him removed by security in my opinion. Someone isn’t telling the truth
Yep... THEY are about to Jussie this.
@@Mzldy1shari I saw that footage as well. But that’s the only commercial footage that we saw. As least I saw. But I wondered why he was allowed to stay? It just seemed odd to me.
Will has had a perfect career. Don't do that my people. He messed up and it was bad. But it goes back even farther than 2016! It goes back to the 90's. Chris went in on Jada for the Million Women's March. Did y'all discuss the men being sexually assaulted on stage? I usually agree with Claudia, but they was relaxed and laughing at corny jokes as people do at these shows. Once he realized what was said he got emotional.
I usually agree with Funky almost always but not on this segment. I felt ill just watching that assault. He might not have cut him but he assaulted Chris. PTSD is very possible so don't play it down. THIS WAS ASSAULT!!!
Not only did he assault Chris, he walked back and screamed obscenities. Then apologized to everyone but chris. Hes a narcissist.
@@olgakatongo9012 he wasn't saying Rock didnt get assaulted or might suffer from PTSD, he was talking about the comments of Amy Schumer, Wanda Sykes and Ellen DeGeneres claiming PTSD. They're putting too much on it. THEY'RE NOT VICTIMS
I definitely agree with you 💯. Chris Rock has a track record of dehumanizing Jada Pinkett, he also owe the Smith's apology. Chris didn't rehearse the script about Jada Pinkett with the staff prior to the Grammy's. Why? 😏😏😏😏😏😏
Will was wrong period! His violent behavior was unjustified
I don't like the coverage of this story. There isn't enough speaking up for from a certain pov. I think I am done looking at reports on the story if y'all are going to basis.
How is a Twitter apology enough? Did Will slap Chris across Twitter? No. Anyone could have typed that "apology", perhaps his social media manager.
A manufactured tear during his speech, 'apologizing' to everyone else BUT the person he slapped and dancing the night away shortly after didn't look to me like he meant that apology.
Q, Chris saying, “What that was a light one”, was for the audience reaction, not because Will was coming towards him.
Will was still seated when he said that..but he was talking to the audience and will and Jada the audience gasped and Jada rolled her eyes
@@tashawnasanders77 Exactly. Chris’ comment was to the audience, Will was busy laughing.
@@mimioh5373 He laughed it off. But he wasn't sincerely amused by that "joke"
@@chrisman3431 Glad somebody can see that the laugh wasn't a sincere gut busting laugh, but more of a trying to play it off, uncomfortable laugh.
@@Rio_Monique Right, ppl are trying to run with that narrative that he was super okay with that joke which was of very poor taste tbh 🤷🏾♂️. But it wasn't the first time that Chris was coming for Jada. He was tap dancing for Massa at the 2016 Oscar during the Oscar So white movement led by Jada
Jada was traumatized. That’s sad again the black women just need to laugh and take the jokes . I wonder if we changed this to taylor swift sitting there with that disease an Chris kept digging in. You cant cuz he know he’d be on the news the next day …. Ruled as suicide
ALL FACTS!!
Which one of y’all’s phone be dinging on every episode making me think I have messages.. im traumatized from that 🤣
I was extremely traumatized I haven't slept I haven't eaten I've been having chest pains I'm scared I have PTSD....it's been crazy hope Chris feels better
I know this must be sarcasm. I have been living in a sadistic, narcissistic, and unempathetic world long before Trump brought back racism and Chris brought back bullying.
Sarcasm, right?
"How that work?" Let me count some ways
When you are the owner of the club
When you are the child of Owner of the Club
When you are a partner in the Club
When you are the wife or husband of the owner of the club
When you are head of security of the Club
When the majority of the people in the Club came to the club to see you...
That is how that works.
Now when The D.A. Of That City Comes For Will Smith, just remember there is video evidence 🤔
I won't be surprised if the academy takes Will's Oscar away. Wait and see....It seems that it's leaning that way. They asked Will to leave after the situation happened and he refused. This situation is horrible. He waited his entire career for this moment and you let someone say something about your wife (which wasn't that bad of a joke) and this happens???? Sad.....
I agree with FD, it’s an underline tension. I don’t agree that y’all saying it wasn’t a bad joke. You can’t determine how someone should feel. I don’t think he’s painted as a victim, I think he’s being demonized more than necessary.
I would Sue The Fresh Prince!, for All that Bad Boy 1,2,3 Money, then donate it to the MARTIN LUTHER KING CENTER FOR NON-VIOLENCE !!!!!!
I wish that people would stop talking about that so tame joke about Jada boycotting the Oscars, he said verbatim" Jada boycotting the Oscars is like me boycotting Rihanna's panties, I wasn't invited.okay which meant for the crowd who may be a little slow. To put it lightly Jada was not relevant enough for the Academy to care if she came or not. And"that was a nice one" just meant that he could have went harder, knowing all the mess that has come out in the past year or two about marriage their entanglements and all that other stuff yes, that was a very tame joke. Not deserving all this extra nonsense that people trying to dig up because they didn't understand a joke that happened 6 years ago
Exactly
Q is right about Chris having a sense that the joke would be irritating to the couple, I said the same, Chris also started the joke by saying 'Jada I love you', because he knew
Maybe Will didn't apologise to Chris at the Oscar because they may have talked before and he felt that Chris violated their agreement, we actually do not know the full story, and the Oscar may be right in the middle of this mess 👀
As I listened to them break this down, there might be more to this than we know, it seems to me like this joke may have been discussed, the Smiths did not approve but they went ahead and did it, hence Jada's eye roll and then Will's reaction 🤷🏾♀️ maybe this is why Chris isn't suing. Let's wait and see
Will and Jada are not off limits and Chris was hired to do a job. The couple is entitled. Chris needs to stand up for his community (comedians) file charges and a lawsuit.
I don't really care what Joke Chris made, Will Smith could heckle him, as he did when he sat down. But he had no right to assault him. I hope Chris Rock sue him.
Yep, Claudia. I’ve read that Chris’ security was beefed up for his opening in Boston.
Claudia is right. She doesn't look like she has alopecia, but if she does, a lot of people were not aware. This goes much deeper.
Claudia is the queen of righteousness now like she wasn’t showing her ass on RHOA. Cut it out.
Will was wrong and obviously reacted on emotion which was the wrong move in this situation but y’all trying to nail him to the cross like he (or any of us) are above impulse decisions. Stop it.
And as far as trying to dictate what is an insult to someone and what isn’t “that bad”… how about I didn’t think it was “that bad” when Nene said your clit left your body but you were clearly in your feelings…my point is none of us have the right to tell someone how to feel, PERIOD! We do not know her daily struggles and what she battles with behind closed doors regardless of how beautiful she looks when in the public or what she says. Hell, for all we know she could be saying she has Alopecia to keep some other illness a secret. I pray that is not the case but as we seen with Chad Boseman, you never know.
I agree with Funky when he said it seems like this been building up. No excuse for losing your cool like that and assaulting someone, however let’s stop acting like he started World War III.
🤣
Claudia pushed Omarosa mother at the BET Award. Then tried to press charges.
Can y’all discuss how Will and Jada were busting their side laughing when Regina Hall eluded to their open marriage during her sexually offensive bit about COVID testing/tryna find a man? Or was that ok?
It’s different when you have a history with someone. They don’t really rock with Chris, so his joke wouldn’t have hit the same way.
Bits like that are usually rehearsed and ran by the people involved. Hence all those men who walked onstage. People are alleging the Chris Rock joke was handed to him last minute.
Its always about the messenger moreso than the message.
@@only1adrienne Yes they do have history. Will and Chris and, Chris and Jada have been in movies together. They were friends until they couldn't convince Chris to boycott the Oscars in 2016.
@@only1adrienne He has a long history with the both of them, which is why even made the joke in the first place. He probably never thought she would be so offended/sensitive by it. I’m pretty sure if he had known that she would be offended by the joke, he would have never made it...
Chris's joke about Jada in 2016 was not that bad, I'm so tired of ppl saying he came for Jada. Jada was a hot topic in 2016, because she was upset that Will wasn't nominated, and wanted us to boycott. Let's be honest about it. Now that Will is finally nominated, they were front and center praying that he won. The Smiths don't care about the Oscar's, right??? They didn't in 2016 🤷🏾♀️
Exaaaaactly
Jada have talked about her hair condition on her show for years, to imply that she's lying about that is wrong as hell. 🙄 I'm a Big fan of both Will and Chris.
INDEED INDEED... Claudia is a hypocrite. One day she says black women have to endure so much. Then the next day, she is insinuating a black woman is lying about her medical condition. I hope the Queens check her on this.
they're not saying she is lying they are saying that if you don't watch her show a lot you wouldn't know especially when she telling telling the world on social media that she is confident in having a bald head.
I’m with nobody else but Jada. She’s been talking about this hair loss issue for a long while. A woman losing her hair is pretty traumatic and to be goofed on in front of millions of people on live tv too? Had to be humiliating. I do not agree with the slap but I would have handled it backstage.
What’s humiliating about what he said? They put all their business out for the entire world to know, but because someone gives you a compliment on your look, you’re humiliated? Give me a freaking break!!!!!!
I think Chris Rock showed the definition of being Humble and Kind .😇🥰
Just to think if Jada could've let Will Smith having his day instead of throwing 💩 in the game. Will is trying to get his balls back at Chris Rock's expense. He should've left on his own I'm done with Will Smith I hate what he did to Chris you don't like his joke don't laugh.
She was literally just sitting there. All she did was sit there. What did she do?
They both was wrong, but I just need everyone to remember we are all human none of us are perfect and we make mistakes period...
Traumatized? Come on now. People are taking this to far. Were y’all traumatized when they stormed the capital and 2 people ended up dead? Anyone traumatized by hearing Trayvon Martin screaming for his life and a grown man killed him who is still by the way free? Let’s not act like we all don’t do things we shouldn’t. Just because we can’t see your wrong and expose you, don’t mean you haven’t done anything wrong. Stop condemning this man!
