I think the thumbnail has a desperate look for it, as if the person was about to drown, however the art piece looks more hopeful. Like this person is about to break the water surface, about to break free from past emotions or a depressive era, and breathe again. I love it
This! You hit the nail right on the head with this. The painting does look like the person is about to break the surface and those tears are hopeful tears. Lovely interpretation. Personally I love the thumbnail more but they’re both beautiful
I would love to see the "failed painting" and in general would love to hear more of your thoughts about when to let go of a piece that isn't working/ how you can tell the difference between not connecting vs pushing through the uncomfortable stage of the painting
Yeah! 😁 You've been missed. Your art is always ever so soulful.
I would certainly be interested in seeing the unfinished painting. As somebody who deeply admires your works and also struggles with finishing and bringing concepts to life, I love to hear your process of going through
Loved the painting and especially the addition of the rainbow tears.
I love your work! This painting especially made me very emotional. Something about the way you use colour gets me
So lovely to hear from you again 😊 both the finished piece and the thumbnail look amazing, they seem to have different emotions ❤
I’m so happy to see you posted something new. I miss watching you paint. Thank you!
I love your videos. You are one of the biggest inspiration for me. You helped me refresh my paintings. I had an artblock and because of you i got rid of it easily. Thank you!😊
His art and his process is so beautiful and inspiring ( Hi from Brazil).
It's so ethereal and emotional. Love it!
I'm fascinated by your process that yields such amazing paintings. Don't ever stop.
Love this piece. Ironically, the thumbnail one gives off a feeling of a deeper turmoil than the finished piece. Which absolutely takes NOTHING away from the final piece, which has more of a deep sorrow feel to it, but with some hope towards getting out of his depths, toward the light, toward air. So I do prefer the final piece. It's more complex in that it's hopeful. In a way, it's a great progression of what could be the same character. Started off way deeper in complete despair. Gradually moving toward healing in the second piece.
I just find your art and the way you talk through your thought processes so wonderful, glad to see you on YT, grateful for this piece. 🙏🌻

Hullo Arleesha, I have been learning to use more color and value studies to get my soft pastel paintings to work the first time, as the sticks even the surfaces are so expensive and getting it right can be so difficult and more expensive than any other art I have used in the past! I remember when I thought that 100% watercolor papers were expensive! I have since suffered sticker shock at the price of the better pastel papers! I am even kinda shocked at the "cheap" pastel papers! I have discovered making my own painting surfaces working through my watercolor papers and adding pastel grounds even adding pumice to clear gesso to get more tooth to the surface. I look at my studies as good practice now that I never did before when using Acrylic or Oil paints or even Watercolor paintings. Thanks for sharing your your process!
The finished piece having more colour and definition gives more depth to the painting,I actually think it looks really moody ,but I love the glowing light coming through.Obviously the finished painting has had more work on it and time and I think you explained your thoughts and what you were aiming for perfectly 🥰
Yay, another video! I find this so lovely. The concept is so fantastic. Love the moods you create!
I was so excited to see that you posted another video!
Just seeing you posted a video made my day!!!😊Ok going to finish watching now
It was so relaxing seeying the piece come together. And the result is beautiful!
Wow. This is so cool. Really wonderful job indeed.
Missed you Arlee! Love this piece :D
So nice to hear you excited and enjoying the process.
This is a lovely piece! Your videos are so peaceful and inspiring. 💙
I love seeing a new video from you, i find your artwork and videos so inspiring!
Watching your videos and hearing you talk about the process is so fun. It's so relaxing. I cannot describe how I feel watching you do such amazing pieces!
I love the way this turned out. I'd also like to see your 'failed' painting. I always find you thoughts on the creation process interesting & hearing how/when you decide to let a piece go 'unfinished' would be interesting.
I have such a hard time making thumbnails because I am so impatient! 😅 I love how this painting turned out, and I would love to hear more about the failed one...
I love this piece. I love it. Can't wait to see more from you. 😊
I MISSED YOU SO MUCH ARLEE, thank you for the new content. Been rewatching some of your vids like I did back then during pandemic
Eu amo seus vídeos, simplesmente uma calmaria incrível, arte linda e processo fluido dms, fico sempre mais calma e relaxada quando vejo
Amazing painting😊😊😊
It’s amazing ❤❤❤❤
Yay another video
I'd love to see what you consider a failed painting. I wonder if its the same as what I consider a fail.
I love thumbnails for practicing composition, anatomy and values. But I never expect a painting to turn out exactly as I wanted it from the thumbnail it's either the thumbnail is better or the finished painting is better 😅😅 but I absolutely loved your finished painting more it's more dramatic and feels more surreal 😍
I think the lighter blue of the finished piece in contrast to the darker blue of the thumbnail suggests a rising action. The person’s moved upwards, towards the sun. I wonder if the character has grown hair. Maybe it could be a person going through a gender transition, or aging, or healing from an illness. A positive moment of some sort, I’d think!
This rules!
i missed youuuuuuu
I love how this piece turned out. Both the thumbnail sketch and the finished piece. The thumbnail looks great and generally works well on the smaller size. I do agree that adding the tears on the final piece gave it that little bit extra. I like that you went with the rainbow colors. I enjoy adding my own emotion into viewing art, and I feel the rainbow tears can represent a couple of groups. From neurodivergency, to LGBTQIA+, to growing out of your childhood, to even just a gorgeous rainbow itself.
I'm glad you went through with the final painting in the end.
It's been so long! Helloooooooo😢❤
Missed you.
when i say this notification i very much said 'oh my gos, yay!' out-loud :)
Aww USE THEM :) Paints of my hometown. What makes them so juicy and shiny? The honey ;) They are pretty extreme and bold. haha. But I am proud of my hometown
🤍🤍🤍
This felt poigniant for the state of LGBTQIA+ rights in our country, particularly trans rights.
Firstly, the painting is absolutely gorgeous. But I’m unable to see this as anything but “Lgbtqia person drowning in Depression”
As a trans man in today’s climate, it’s just where my mind goes I guess.
Everyone's depressed, bro.
