This is German Prog Rock Deluxe! Masterpieces for true Moog connoisseurs. I was born in Germany in 1960 and was addicted to their music for a very long time. Now living in the UK in Cornwall for 22 years, I still put the Spartacus album on quite often. It is something I grew up with and it was seriously good stuff!
Loved the band from the 70' to this day! If i want to blow someone's mind today I introduce them to this overlooked classic and indeed minds are blown and new fans climb aboard the well deserved recognition of these talented musicians!~~
I had this album too and I grew up in Baltimore, MD USA. Funny thing, some years later I had a German guy working for me who came from Cologne and knew these guys, It was his job to put the mouse in the egg shell and photograph it! It took him HOURS and they gave him credit on the record and let him do some kind of Lyric! I have not thought of that for YEARS!
This was the second album I ever bought in my life! I was in HS living in Holland and the time and would listen to this album and mostly this song endlessly for hours! Of course I was stoned out of my mind throughout! Thanks for sharing the memories!
PLANX - Excellent post. Post the entire illusions of a double dimple album. Excellent stuff. To colin5765 - you didn't miss the 70's, you just missed some great music.
You had better bet it is! Not to mention that with all of the great venues in STL and KSHE, many great acts came here due to the huge following thanks to KSHE. The midwest was a great location for new music in the 60's and 70's. You can find many of the former KSHE DJ's now on KHITS, 96.3 in STL. They stream live on the computer. Complete with Rich Dalton. From KSHE Sunday morning classic show. I still have hundreds of my ticket stubs from shows in STL presented by KSHE.
BRASIL. EU OUÇO ISTO DESDE CRIANÇA. CONCORDO COM ALGUNS COMENTÁRIOS QUE A INFLUENCIA DO ELP ETC MAS QUEM GOSTA DE EMERSON LAKE & PALMER E TRIUNVIRAT SABE QUE SÃO AMBOS EXCELENTES. QUANTO AO YES É CLARO CONCORDO TBEM. NO ENTANTO
Wow thanx, whadda treat, I ain't heard this stuff since I got an *8-track* (!) copy back in '75...a couple yrz later I was listening to punk & prog at the same time, ha...alwayz liked the Illusionz stuff
Even though Triumvirat had an excesive influence from ELP, they sound very good with excellents musicians, especially the keyboardist and its music is very well composed contrary to what we hear in music currently.
Good music..yes! Seems I've heard this before or something like it. Oh yeah, I think there was a British Prog rock band that sounded something like these guys Emerson, Lake and something-or-other.
I saw them on the tour for this album. They played the Shire Auditorium in Los Angeles, opening for Fleetwood Mac and Jefferson Starship. I had tickets to the Spartacus tour, but they had to cancel it because the bassist had been drafted by the German army.
I had purchased tickets to see Triumvirat, Slade, and Peter Frampton in Philly, around '76...concert was cancelled due to the Slade singer being ill! grrrr!! Like when I had tickets to see ELP, Deep Purple and Dream Theater in about 2000; it, too, was cancelled due to the singer in Deep Purple being sick! Double grrrr!! Anyway, Triumvirat was a great band.
Vale a pena!
Don't think so; probably Refugee, whose OGWT appearance is on CZcams. Their album-and Triumvirat's Spartacus-are recommended in the exhaustive ELP bio THE ENDLESS ENIGMA, in its chapter on other notable keyboard trios. I believe Triumvirat featured on BBC Radio 1's In Concert twice in the mid-1970s, as there exists a bootleg. (High time they were replayed on 6 Music's Live Hour at 0400 some morning-some chance!)
can anyone post the illusions album? The entire album, because it comes in sections, from the start of school days to the end.Illusions was thier greatest album,i love them all,but i can't find the cd any where.
I once saw a keyboard based prog tri on The Old Grey Whistle Test. I was immediately impressed and immediately forgot their name. Could this be them. Were they on the programme?
@greasedog Wow thats harsh.....I admit I can't get enough of these buzzy fizzy synth sounds so I'm still a fan. But they are definitely ELP "lite" me and my friends got some good laffs from Triumvirate's "Pompeii" LP
@skip901 ..good point.but i think this was done b4,,but the elp,,commments have merit,,,kansas double live,,paid a fortune for that album,,an cd's we're coming out soon,,boston,,dire straights.bruce sprinstein,,i used to know the first 4 cd'ds, crappes,,cranial cramp...anyway..it all brings me back to supertramp..crime of the century best concert next to nusery crimes,,genesis.ottawa 76,n starcastle a few month after
@mikamikamika666 Lol, this song itself is a pale copy of ELP's Tarkus segments in the 5/4 part.... but for copy, you know... it is still amazing to hear what the human kind could make out of 12 notes...
@TheMawkperron a cold old worried lady,,has merit as a classic,i'me a guitar player ,but appreciate good piano..melody n verse, without guitar once n while,,,n listen to the last verse..he played again lol
I'm not trying to be malicious. I acknowledge the music is good. I love prog rock. But, it's a classic rip off of ELP. Just as Starcastle was an obvious rip off of my favorite prog rock band YES who I saw live (5) times. I saw ELP live in St. Louis back in the late 70's. "Pictures at an Exhibition" is among my all time favorites. I guess imitation is the highest form of flattery or maybe I'm just a snob but I can't help but be a little put off. Just a little. Did I mention it IS good music?
i love this album. A true great 'almost forgotten' prog album of the 70s. Spartacus is also tremendously enjoyable to listen to.

To me, the best thing in the history of music.
Loved the band from the 70' to this day! If i want to blow someone's mind today I introduce them to this overlooked classic and indeed minds are blown and new fans climb aboard the well deserved recognition of these talented musicians!~~
Aprendi a aprecia Los aos 12 anos e nunca mais este som saiu de minha cabeça
The album is called "Illusions on a Double Dimple" and every song is excellent!
I had this album too and I grew up in Baltimore, MD USA. Love TRIUMVIRAT!
Muita gente critica o Triumvirat, é melhor uma banda com esta categoria do que o lixo que se escuta hoje.
concordo plenamente.
quem critica não sabe do que ta falando!
These guys were great...PERIOD
great sound!! great band...this and Spartacus were seminal albums for me in the 70's.

Einer meiner ersten LP!
Einfach nur klasse!
Illusions of a double dimple is the best cd ever made period! Once you listen to the first song you have to listen to it from beg. to end.
Siplesmente Maravilhoso !!!
Fantastic!

Great Album!! Mr. Ten Percent!!
ELP was definitely a major influence to them. Fritz is a prog god.
Good music..yes! Seems I've heard this before or something like it. Oh yeah, I think there was a British Prog rock band that sounded something like these guys Emerson, Lake and something-or-other.
thanks There must be a live show on video somewhere what a shame
Jack
Classic (y)
@PLANx I saw the Illusions tour...awesome!
Apparently they appeared on Don Kirshner's Rock Concert back at the peak of their popularity. I would love to be able to see that footage!
I saw them on the tour for this album. They played the Shire Auditorium in Los Angeles, opening for Fleetwood Mac and Jefferson Starship.
I had tickets to the Spartacus tour, but they had to cancel it because the bassist had been drafted by the German army.
The whole album is one of my "running"
CDs in my car!
I had purchased tickets to see Triumvirat, Slade, and Peter Frampton in Philly, around '76...concert was cancelled due to the Slade singer being ill! grrrr!! Sounds like "Trilogy" (ELP) Very similar..
Jurgen Fritz...the Yngwie Malmsteen of keyboards..:)
The first band that introduced me to Euro prog rock . Thank you! Saved me from our "It" rock

Good ol' analog synth. No presets in those days.
The band was Triumvirat, the song is Triangle
I once saw a keyboard based prog tri on The Old Grey Whistle Test. I was immediately impressed and immediately forgot their name. Could this be them. Were they on the programme?

is there any live concerts of this band ? I need to see sparticus done live..
Jack
from which album is this song? and where can i find it completed, please?
Made smaller by the music itself and smaller yet by the internet!
smoked a LOT of dope listening to Illusions
I remembered this song... when I was sacked last Friday...
Posso te dar um CD e enviar para o Brasil. Do you speak English? Hablas Espanol?
Awesome keyboardist, next to Keith.
No; it was probably Refugee feat. Patrick Moraz
@TheMawkperron a cold old worried lady,,has merit as a classic,i'me a guitar player ,but appreciate good piano..melody n verse, without guitar once n while,,,n listen to the last verse..he played again lol
What a small world heh?
whatever happened to these guys?????
Damn it, why they don't call themselfs "The German ELP".
like ELP song
I play sparticus at least once a week in my car.
Got sacked last Friday. Hit me with another double.
Im Glad nintendo and the creators of super metroid had a good sense of musical taste when they chose to copy the song Haha!
Lol not like they were ripping off them in a bad way.
IMHO they cloned ELP and made it better.
