    Relocation of that dumpster fire of a franchise Arizona is the right play. There’s enough teams in nhl. Most teams can’t even find competent goaltending. We don’t need to water down the product any further.

    Are the Cowboys more profitable than the Yankees? Cowboys and NFL are definitely huge in America, but I feel like you see Yankee hats all over the world. Utah would be cool but I think there are already too many teams. Since the NHL won't agree there are too many and will expand anyway for the money, I think Utah could work.

    Love hockey, but Delta Center sucks for hockey. For upper bowl, you have to be in front row or your vision is significantly blocked. So, another arena is a must in my opinion cuz the Maverik center is great, but too small for an NHL team.

    This is 100% designed to show that we have a stadium immediately available to house the Yotes and a world class stadium that will be built immediately and unopposed for the olympics if a team were moved here. I think the expansion is a hail mary, with the goal of putting pressure on the NHL to just move the yotes while they're STILL floundering to get land rights locked down. It's going to succeed here, and Canadians are just seething because their weak dollar, half of the league with no trades to Canadian markets, and the growth of the game in the US makes it immediately accessible. Canadians with no idea of what Utah or its people are like and have never been here commenting on the viability of it is laughable at best.

      Its unlikely they will move Arizona... dont think they want to miss out on the billion dollar expansion fee from Utah...
      And I think Canadians have every right to be salty about another US team, since they are way more deserving of another NHL team than any US-market is.
      Just look at the TV-deal they got compared to the US.. the target audience is only a fraction of the US, yet their TV deal is almost as much; and thats part of the problem; they are watching hockey regardless, the only reason the NHL is expanding is to gain new customers, not to satifsy people who are already watching.

    Salt Lake City population is 1,257,936. 1.2 million. Utah has terrible hockey registration.
    The smallest US market in the NHL is Buffalo 1,125,637 million. New York has fantastic hockey registration.
    You've got to be kidding me. I couldn't hate the United States anymore if I tried. Go play shoot someone, leave hockey to Canadians.
    If you are going to go to a small market, go somewhere where they ACTUALLY follow hockey.
    Like, all I ever hear about is CANADIAN MARKETS ARE TOO SMALL - meanwhile Gary Bettman wants to relocate to the second smallest US market in the NHL.
    Quebec City would do better than Phoenix.
    Know how I know? Winnipeg did better than Atlanta. Winnipeg made more money than Atlanta when they relocated in 2010. Winnipeg soldout every home game (41 games a year) from 2010 to 2020. Ten years straight of sellouts.
    And Quebec City (839,311) is larger than Winnipeg (834,678).
    Quebec City is the LAST major population center in Canada that doesn't have an NHL team...it's a joke.
    I would do ANYTHING for Bettman to go away and leave the game to Canadians again.
    Stop ruining the sport I LOVE.

    • @dsarmy1
      @dsarmy1 Před 3 měsíci +5

      Who says us in Utah doesn't follow NHL? If the NHL can afford to grow then it should. Maybe in a hundred years it grows to 60 teams but don't hate just because another city gets a team before another.

    • @sampicano
      @sampicano Před 3 měsíci

      @@dsarmy1 some cities are deserving of hockey...some cities are less deserving
      You can pretend as if salt lake city is on par with Milwaukee or Portland in terms of being hockey markets, but it just isn't.
      Milwaukee, Portland those are better, more deserving hockey markets - and teams in those cities would generate more revenue for the league.
      Houston has 7.1 million people - Salt Lake City has 1.2 million...it would be the SECOND SMALLEST MARKET IN THE US - dude go away
      Quebec City IS FAR MORE DESERVING and has a FAR LARGER FANBASE and has AN ACTUAL NHL READY ARENA
      Quebec City has the Videotron Centre (18,259 capacity) built in 2015. Salt Lake City has the Delta Center (14,000 capacity for hockey) and built in 1991...gross
      Salt Lake City is LITERALLY the 5th or 6th best option - if Coyotes have nowhere else to go...fine. But don't act as if Salt Lake City is a smart option, or a well deserving option.
      Maybe in 60 years Salt Lake City will have as many hockey fans with wallets as Quebec, when that happens you can have a team.
      Maybe when you get the Olympics in 2034 and actually build AN ARENA...then you can ACTUALLY have an NHL team.
      You know what they should do? See who can sell more season tickets....Quebec City or Salt Lake City
      Hold a season ticket drive in Quebec City (839,311) and a season ticket drive in Salt Lake City (1,257,936) and see who sells more tickets.
      And the city that sells more season tickets can have an NHL team LMFAO and you will see just how much better of a market Quebec City would be :)

      You're only looking at the main metro population, which is contained mostly within Salt Lake County. The larger combined statistical area (CSA) that includes the Ogden and Provo areas is over 2.7 million, making it 22nd largest CSA in the US. This places it at around the same size as the CSA for Pittsburgh and larger than CSAs for other existing NHL markets in Nashville, Las Vegas and yes, Buffalo. On top of that, with how spread out things are in the west, media markets extend hundreds of miles beyond the main population center, often into other smaller secondary markets. The point is, media markets are more complex than just the localized population, especially when you consider current and projected growth. There are way more factors than what you have laid out.

    • @dsarmy1
      @dsarmy1 Před 3 měsíci +1

      @@flibbidyx2 I don't think he understands this. Utah's media market also includes parts of Nevada, Idaho and Wyoming because the bigger cities in those states are much farther away because western U.S. states are so large in area size.
