Neuropunk in a nutshell: Cyberpunk and dreampunk had two children; the cool big brother known as Tron and the bratty younger child known as the matrix
Yup pretty much
As an autistic person I want there to be a story that acknowledge neurolinks would realistically be made with neurotypicals in mind and won't work the same for the neurodiverse.
I imagine a neurolinked game running normally for neurotypicals while the neurodiverse are glitching.
Something like "Ready Player One" or "Sword Art Online" where somebody have to win the game, but we're following a gamer or a group of them glitching their way through the game (clipping though walls, moving the camera, making weapons have ridiculous damage, messing with physics, ect.) instead of playing normally.
That would be something interesting to see
Found a scifi book from the 60s that i think qualifies as a "good neuropunk" book. "Babel 17" main character is an autistc woman who is a genius linguist. Has some problematic language associated with stuff from the sixties, but overall neurodiversity is handled well, even compared to modern literature.
I always like to come back to these videos. I’m so glad to have found your channel when I did.
It feels like this is better as an element to cyberpunk rather than a genre in and of itself.
Yeah I feel the same
Another great video, and another indicator to me that you are going to love Lunarpunk once you get to it.
It sounds like the guy who “invented” this genre made it out of spite.
First impressions I have before watching the video: Brain surgeons, brain in a jar monsters. We will now see if my predictions are correct.
Well I wasn't wrong but it's more complicated than what I thought. As an Autistic person, I don't quite know how to feel about the weaponized Autism part.
Yeah I was thinking about cutting it but both the term and some variation of my explanation came up 3-4 time in my research. Didn’t mean to offend I did.
@@NylasWUP I wasn't offended I just found the concept weird. I'm also used to Hollywood bumbling around when it comes to Autism.
This was just.... new I guess? I don't know how to explain it.
That Famous Jet Jackson scene has been stuck in my mind since it premiered.
What scene?
@@NylasWUP The blue shirt scene.
Srry man that’s from up up and away
Must have been on one after the other. I was wondering why the characters were all different and the flow of the plot made no sense.
Are business men who take coke for maximum mental efficiency neuropunks?
Sound about right
Personally i prefer post-cyberpunk. A nice middle ground.
neuropunk in atompunk, ovvero sic mundus ...
Would Johnny Mnemonic be also considered to be Neuropunk a bit due to the fact that brains are used as hard drives?
Not really it’s not his brain that used its chrome attached to Johnny’s brain.
I feel like you can make a really good horror story with neuropunk. Kinda want to write that now.
I could see that
good video man
Also, have you a shout out on the podcast.
....oh, Blindsight is neuropunk. Lol. He really isn't that great at writing. I liked that concept and plot though.
Could not get passed how poorly written it was the chapter they first go on the “ship” Was the worst thing I’ve read in a while.
@@NylasWUP indeed. Haven't even finished the audiobook because the writing was cringe. He does have interesting ideas and story beats, enough to get me that far. Maybe he should just be one of those people that comes up with stuff and someone else does the actual writing, or maybe get a co-author? Idk. Something. ...lol.
Can you do me memepunk
Isn’t that a band not a subgenre?
@@NylasWUP no it is a sub-genre of cyberpunk in which society revolves around meme culture
Edit: I found a good source czcams.com/video/dQw4w9WgXcQ/video.html
Classic 😁
Do you plan on covering Homo-Fascism punk?
No
@@NylasWUP :(
That is not even a thing 💀
