I own my T7 now for 3 Years and 40.000 Km's and I am very satisfied. It's all like you mentioned. I had a lot of Motorcycles like R1250GS, Africa Twin, Super Tenere etc... but the T7's simplicity, reliability, low cost of ownership, easy handling and a wide variety of 3rd party add ons makes it the best choice for anyone who is not speed addicted.

Another amazing thing about the T7 is that it generates 90% of its Torque from 1600 rpm all the way to 8000rpm..I love mine such a gem of a bike. Cheers from NZ.

My bet is my Tenere T7 will be running the world long after my time. The old Honda TransAlps are and the original Tenere 660's. even the XT500's are going strong. Good vid Pavlin. Time to hit the road.

I live in Marseille and got my A2 permit last year, and bought a CB 500X which I think is a great first bike, but the reason I will buy a Ténéré next year because as glad as I am that my first bike is not full of "modern tech", I definitely want to keep it that way. No tech, no headache.

@@Hibbicon I agree with some of the good technologies, especially brakes and suspension, or drive by wire as you mentioned, but when too many sensors dominate the motorcycle, you will end up errors on the screen like the new 1300GS, don't watch only the paid famous youtubers, read the customer reports. Cheers.

You are totally right Pavlin. I can write a book of all the problems I had with my KTM 790 Adventure and I have four years of warranty, but also there, always discussions what they cover or not. A little resume of my last two years and I am sadly not the only one, look on the forums: stoplights sensor broke after one month, cool water hoses came loose (repaired it myself and luckily I noticed it), brake fluid coming out of the front reservoir, brake disks are warped after 12000 km (no warranty), rear shock blew after 28000 km (repaired after a lot of discussion with KTM and I practically never ride of road), front tire loses pressure (bad install from the factory), and now, after driving in really bad, stormy weather I got electronic problems, indicating MTC faillure, ABS faillurre, headlight failure…Right, ready to race…I would say ready to repair. I disconnected and reconnected the battery and it seems ok now, but just starting my French Alps trip, it’s a bummer. Who needs all this electronic stuff anyway? When I get home it will be sold and I’ll get me a Ténéré. After 45 years and many motorcycles and kilometers I have never experienced this. Greetings from Belgium and I love your CZcams channel!

I've had my T7 since 2019..The only thing I've added is hand guards and Givi crash bars simplicity is the key for me. Its never let me down. Mostly off road riding...I really enjoy your videos. Thanks for sharing👍

The t7 and Gs are the best bikes in the world. But for me, I don't want to go to a party and everyone is wearing the same shirt. Or we all drive Toyota Corollas.

I love mine. It does everything, it's not the best at everything but it does everything extremely well. I have 200HP track bikes, also touring bikes, but the T700 ticks almost all the boxes for me. I did lower the seat and the rear suspension, then setup all suspension to my weight and riding style and the T700 is just perfect - at least for me. I'm not a Trans Sahara Warrior but my bike takes me everywhere and easily.

I had the old tenere 660z which I loved. Now I have a T7 and it fixes most of the weak points of the old bike so I am very happy. Your points are as usual sensible and informative. For me the simplest solution is usually the best solution.👍

Yes we know it is a good bike, maybe you could review other bikes as you did before, i remember vstrom , versys, honda nc etc, good reviews. But i wish you make a video of the best way to repair a puncture on a tube wheel, based on your own experience on the road
I did a lot of reviews in the past, because I was living in Berlin, Germany and had access to many motorcycle shops. About punctures, there are so many videos on CZcams about it.

Reliable, simple, fast enough = good compromise. Something the Japanese are really good in - how to make most riders happy. If I wanted a middle-class ADV bike, I would rather buy the Aprilia Tuareg, though ;-) But decided on something 60 kg lighter for solo rides: a used Honda CRF 300 L. Maybe not as good as your fully laden Tenere on the way to Magadan, Pavlin. But much easier to explore TET trails. There is no unicorn bike, yet. Happy rides, Günter/Nürnberg

I owned a tenere base model 2021..Rode it for almost 1years 11months for 100k km mileage on mark...daily grinding..no problem with any mechanical issues neither i change the stocks Sprocket chain n battery...till i traded to Yamaha Tenere World Raid 2023....No regret...From Yamaha Tenere 700 to Yamaha Tenere 700...Cheap maintenance...Cheap parts and easy to get...its only cost about 190sgd for the clutch plate set...haha...really cheap for middle class weight bike...Most important things for long haul rider,we want reliability and also friendly user for mechanic to trouble shooting this bike anywhere in any country...No fancy digital sensor or computer involved...just a basic robust machine that can bring us to Point A to Point B...more than enough... greeting from Singapore Tenere 700 Group....

all that has the V strom 650 as well, i have bought my third one, used this year, total mileage on all three: 108000 km,
Repair on all three: a shaft seal and a ball bearing on the pinion hub!
For shorter riders the V strom seems the better choice for me. Of course offroad you have to go slower, but the bike gets you everywhere you want it to!

Good choice! Downside of TKC80, on the rear, is that it wears out quite fast, and therefore proves expensive. Some people choose to have the the TKC80 on the front, and TKC70 ROCS, on the rear. As for the T7 selling so well, it is like property which is based on location, location, location. For an adventure bike, it is about reliability, reliability, reliability. It is, also, well rounded, good looking too, but that is not the point, because other bikes are well rounded also, if not more so. As for people that are on the short side, there is the Explore version.

Hello Pavlin, I see it the same way as you. The Tenere 700 is a motorcycle that can be used for any purpose. What is also important is that the compression of the engine is very low, and that is a big advantage in countries where you find poor quality petrol and the octane unit is low! 😉 Greetings Michael from Germany

The first generation TransAlp only stayed in Canada a few years. It fell through the cracks. Yamaha Canada put a Canadian graphics package on the T7 this year, so I think it filled a niche. It probably took customers away from other brands and gained a few new ones coming from dirt or street. All my guessing...

Got old 2000 XT600e few years ago, but it's not powerful and stable enough for me on even bit longer distances. Now just sold my ZZR1400 and been planning to change to likely either T7 or Super Tenere. I'm not long about 173cm and I need to slightly tippy toe on XT600. I think I gotta go check out nearby both models. I think T7 might be good enough if it's comfortable to cruise around 120kmh for asfalt roads, I wonder how it fares there?

Tried the Yamaha Tenere World Trade this weekend but the tank/idea was so big that I needed to spread my legs a lot, otherwise very lovely machine so a Yamaha Tenerife Extreme is perfect for me I think as I'm 190cm tall and weigh 112kg, unfortunately didn't try the Extreme but tested and read about it👍🇸🇪
Honda Africa Twin 1100 Adventure sport manual with quickshifter is also in my mind.....

i totally agree i thinkthe tenere is the best ADV bike on the road, I don't like the look of it though I think the Africa twin is better looking but now I bought the tracer 700 witch I think looks nicer than the tenere but as it is also cheaper I got that I will change some bits of it as I go along

I had a T7,liked the engine,the simplicity,but for comfort and seat heigh(I am 179cm) I changed it for the 750 Transalp wich is an easy going bike ,reliable,more suitable for me!

I don't know the differences. These are the new options and I haven't seen it on real.
As far as I know the Extreme edition inherites the excellent suspension from the world raid model while the stock suspension on the standard Tenere is OK at best. Would be an easy choice for me.

Hi Pavlin, after Pol Tares you are best promotor of T7 . You are big guy, have you ever consider to move on Africa Twin , it is better and more comfortable bike for long trips, also reliable but no much expensive bike.

The new Himalayan is an interesting (financially) idea. The one thing that’s stalling the decision is how new the RE engine is versus the klr and the t7 …

The Tenere are like these Jack Wolfskin jackets, these jackets are not bad in principle, but they sell you the idea of you having an adventure rather than you having an actual adventure.

whats funny is that i just returned from a trip on the TET. mainly in greece, section 5 to 11. riding the africa twin 1100 and the tener 700// the T7 performed perfectly. The africa twin is being sold asap. to big and heavy for offroad. I was quite happy with the t7 on the highway no issues. Best part of the T7 was the low gearing i was in 2nd gear the entire time slowly tracking through the mountains, while the Africa needed to be in first.. it was a absolute mess, jerky , and not fun at all.. i wonder if your comment is from experience ?

In Germany BMW adventure motorcycles absolutely dominate the sales figures, so these 250+ kg giants must be the best adventure bikes right?
The Tenere was special in 2019, but is now rather dated. Since then many alternatives have surfaced that are better simply designed (like the Aprilia Tuareg) and/or more modern (like the 800DE).
I guess the reason the T-7 sells so well is because Yamaha was the first on the market (for twin cyclinder adventure bikes for mild offroad use) and aggressive marketing. Of course having a solid product is a requirement.
Relatively easy tracks like the TET can be done with all of them, for technical single track you might wanna switch to real dual sports like the KTM 690 or lighter.
Only the future will show us who was right!

I would like t have a World raid not so much for the fuel capacity but for the location. It is all under the bottom of the steering head. This should help the top heaviness some. I may never find out. It may never come to America as they say they will have to set up an assembly line in Japan to fill orders. Sales of ADV bikes in USA are tanking. Big is out. 300's are in. Or ultra big 1300 BMW.

I prefer xt660z (2008-2016) much more than T7, much easier maintenance (valve clearance for example), lower consumption, more equipment for the passenger, better quality control button, fixed fuel cap, 24 liter tank in polycarbonate, better driving position and more fun to drive!

When I wanted to do an long distance trip 30 years ago I bought a bike and modified it to do the journey.
I bought a Tenere in Varna just over 3 years ago, because I thought there was a Yamaha dealership. It turns out it's an agent not a proper dealership and sub contracts repairs and services
the customer service I got was poor.
Mine was the first tenere registered in Bulgaria. When I took it to the regional registration agency. I couldnt register for 2 days as yamaha had forgotten to add it to the countries approved list.
I bought the front crash bars and when I picked up the bike thg they were in a box next to the bike, not difficult to fit but I would have expected them to have been installed when I collected the bike.
I love the bike but I am tall
I'm back in Bulgaria next week and hope to ride lots of miles on the amazing roads

The Tuareg is better in every respect than the T7 except in price. If it was a Honda it would be a big seller.
Well... it slowly disappeared from the market and the Transalp didn't sell as they expected.
An Ascerbis gas tank adds 2 galloons and very little weight.

every body tries to run down the T7 but people like me and you no how good the bike is. we used to see all ktms on the trails, now we see a lot more T7 than ktm. that tells you a lot.

I would love to own a T7, but it was a top heavy, high seat bike, lacking some features that are very advantageous for adventure touring. Notably, no tubeless tires, no cruise control, and no quick shifter. It is not optimum for difficult off road, and not optimum for long distance road riding. I believe Yamaha is trying to address these lackings. The T7 sells for two reasons. 1) it is dead reliable. 2) wannabe adventure riders want to look good, even though they suck on road, even more off road. The BMW R1200GS is also a best selling adventure motorbike, maybe, for the same reasons, but it is a more complete adventure bike for the majority of people. The experts confirm time after time that the TUAREG 660 is a superior bike to the T7. And not just for features, and electronics. Even for basic features, it rides better than the T7, both on, and off road. People don't buy the TUAREG because of reliability, and dealer network. So if you want something basic, that does the overall job, with proven reliability, get a T7. But don't fool yourself that it is the best bike, otherwise Yamaha will not try to improve it, just like Suzuki never tried to improve the DRZ400. Just say that it is your best option for what you want. Sorry, Palin, you are selling your obsession with this bike, but I am not buying. I am short, yes, but that is no excuse for T7 to be tall and top heavy. The TUAREG is better off road, had better suspension travel, not top heavy,better ground clearance, and I can reach the ground on it. Explain that, Yamaha!

Yamahas are very good with reliability, the CP2 is a bulletproof engine, but they have terrible stock suspension and brakes as usual even on their sportbikes... I sold my Yamaha and bought a KTM, because why not. The KTM is a much better bike, zero regrets after 3 years of heavy use (commute, track, winter riding) very little problems despite the bad reputation of the brand.
"very little problems"sounds like a good excuse that KTM owners always have.
A bike being popular doesn't actually mean anything. It's just on hype, could be a result of a successful marketing campaign. I was once caught in a wave of hype and bought a bike that ended up being a terrible ride and broke down after 1000km.
Of course, Tenere is an amazing bike, but Pavlin, you've owned two Teneres in a row now for God knows how long, why not give a different bike a try? I don't mean buying it, but I think you could easily rent one for a short trip

You're cleverer than this, Pavlin. Argumentum ad populum is a fallacy. I mean, just because millions love Taylor Swift, that doesn't automatically change her music to great pieces of art. I'll say that a bike half the price of a "modern and fancy" bike will be selling double. I mean, I'm sure it's a awesome bike... but it is totally outdated.

A dr650 is outdated, a klr650 is too...the T7 is in its prime!
Just because the T7 was the first released. T660 is better in most ways except support. Tuareg is 2 lbs (1 KG) lighter

Tenere may be the best bike for your side of the world but it’s not even made available in India & we have our own RE Himalayan 450 which does all the job, suits to shorter & average riders & comes at less than half price of Tenere.
