1. Set things up for tomorrow 2. Punch laziness in the face 3. Time is ticking 4. Don't wait until you feel ready 5. Visualize accomplishing the end goal I love your videos! So helpful! And the cute characters! Amazing. ❤️
When I was 6 years old my uncle had a litter of puppies. My uncle sat me in a chair, put a fluffy jellybean in my arms and said that he would be mine if my parents said yes. They said no and I got so angry that I yelled "I'm going to have my OWN puppies when I grow up!" and it's still there 23 years later. :) I have shaped my entire life around being a reputable dog breeder and I have set goals in what I want to achieve in my breeding program. I have asthma that worsened so I had to reconsider what breed I want to commit my life to so that was a bump in the road but it's solved. My tip to others are, if you keep your eyes on the finishline you will be motivated to find solutions to the roadblocks. And if you get lost or lose motivation you talk to your mentors. :) As for my breeding. I'm almost 30, I have 5 dogs and 3 which are old and 2 working dogs, so if the last senior lives to be 15 means that in 3 years I can look around for a puppy for breeding, raise her for 2 years, show her about 1 year so she has her first litter when she is 3. It gives us time to renovate the house to be able to handle the life of a dogbreeder. But the vision that drives me since childhood is that I'm walking into the room. Puppies tiredly makes hungry noises in the dark. I open the blinds and see the litter of puppies in full light the very first time, and the tired proud mama ❤ NOTHING else matters to me. That day will happen, I will not accept it not happening. Being disabled will not stop me. I am too determined that even if I lose an arm I will still make it happen. Nothing can stop me!
You are like a zen art master. I wish I had found this channel earlier, but maybe the right time is now. Thank you for being so generous with your teachings.
I feel balancing life and art is extremely difficult. I make time for drawing, but then don't draw because I feel bad that I'm takign time away from other things- and then nothing gets done. I hate school especially because it's the biggest limbo for me. I just want to paint/sketch/practice but then all these other things get in the way and I'm upset I can't draw and upset that I have to do stuff I hate doing (that is hardly benefitting me at all). I just don't know what to do at this point and it makes me scared for the future. Like, what am I supposed to do? Am I not getting enough practice? If I prioritize art over school what if I end up with neither?
Are you in highschool at the moment? Do you want to go to an art uni? Like bobby has said before in other videos, try bringing a sketchbook with you everywhere. If you have time between classes, at lunch, on transit, etc. try to draw when you can.
I don’t know how you’re doing at this current moment... but gosh, what you’re experiencing is exactly my life right now... I’m so frustrated and want with all my soul to do art, but Im in school and I hate it... the thought of all the school work I have to do drains me
You made my day my Master....I didn't have any good expression today's morning when I woke up, but now It's diffrente.....Thank you so much....You are my HERO
Why are you being so helpful? I feel a bit like it isn't true; as though someone could not be this kind-hearted and open to helping others in such a way as...this. I could almost cry about the amount of help you've given me. Then at that, aside from these inspirational videos, there is Schoolism.com to still be explored. I am nearly ashamed to have not have known who you are, but feel blessed to know who you are now.
This is so great. Especially the reminders about imposter syndrome and the incredible potential we can have if we just start now and avoid wasting time.
I wish I could like this x1000 I always come back to these videos, super motivating, helpful and help me brighten up when I feel overwhelmed by work, personal work, personal life.... Thank you so much for sharing!!!
Bobby.... you are the main reason I just can't give up on my dreams. I really wish I had just a little tiny Bobby Chiu in my pocket so that whenever I feel lack of motivation or sad, I could just take it out and say "please, just say something, anything!" Everything you say just brightens my brain, it goes like "why did I not think like this before??" or "what the hell I am doing? I should be doing *whatever*..." And while wasting 8 h a day on a job that I see no future in it, whenever I come across your videos, I just don't care, I have to stop what I'm doing, because your words are gold for me and my life right now. These few words I just heard from you made my day, because now I just know that today I'll do exactly as you say and tomorrow it will be even greater. You are amazing. I'm going to the Comicon event in Portugal, and I really wished so bad that I could see you, it's a shame that in Portugal we have so few amazing worldwide artist coming. Even so I'm just happy to attend your courses in scholism. It also helps me a lot! You have no idea how much your words can change somene's day routine or prespective in life. Or maybe you actually do know, and you should. =) It would be my dream to be someone as inspiring as you, not only as an artist but as a human being. I better shut up now x''D Thank you so much for just being you! I'm 24 years old and I'm not giving up anytime soon
This advice to start prior to when you're suppose to start is really wroking really well ! It's something I sometimes do like "I have to work on that in like 2h but I'll do a quick sketch now" and it helps tremendously because you loose the pressure to fail it.
Yes!!! So great to hear that this advice has been working for you and you've been enjoying doing little sketches here and there when you have the chance! :) ~S
Hi I know this is an old video, but I wanted to really point out about using "time as motivation". while for some people time may be something that will push people to start learning, for others, the concept of less time may create opposite results such as just shooting down. So, I really don't even think about time when it comes to motivation. but , I 'm excited that you brought the "punching that "voice" and I also related to the other topics which has help me a lot, Thanks for sharing this!
Im still working on an art doll, its been 3 days so far, ive worked on him for 3 days straight, and his neck and wrist keep breaking right now im working on his little mushroom pillow, then will fix his wrist, but, yesterday i almost gave up on fixing him.... but i didnt! Dont quit practicing or working on something you think isnt good enough, because it takes practice for it to look like something that a pro would make, and guess what? Pros still practice, and they keep improving, if you dont feel motivated to push on then listen to your favorite music, look at your favorite drawing or art by someone else, set yourself a goal to reach by the end of the day, and tell yourself, you can do this!
gosh you are amazing. I would love it if you could tell us a bit about how you maintain such an optimistic attitude towards everything, how you got yourself to where you are... like a draw-my-life video, or maybe a brief story-time. Greatly appreciate all that you do.
You're such a great motivational speaker! I wish I had a Bobby bobble head alarm that says motivational speeches in the morning ^^ thank you for free videos :)
I truly hope you know how helpful you are to so many artists around you. These videos are very reassuring. I have a great support system, but it's different coming from another creative brain. Please continue making them. They are a creative anti-depressant!
I've literally binge watched about 5 of these in a row and their fantastic. It really puts me in a positive and ambitious mood. Also the cute images really keep up the light feeling in what can sometimes feel like daunting topics. I will definitely be watching and sharing these thoughts and philosophy's.! Thank you ! and i finished some work this evening so it was a good kind of binge.
Dude you are so real with your stuff, you help so many people, you probably don't even know :D i'm glad i can always come back to those videos, when i need them THANK YOU !
Am I the only one getting all emotional watching this realizing these videos are the ONLY thing telling me to keep going and trying to dream/strive for a better future? 'Asking' the internet about what to do with my life because no one else helps out. Oh man.. This is all so true but seems SO far, far away. ty.
1. Set Things up for the next day before winding down. 2. Punch laziness in the face. 3. Time is Ticking. 4. Don't wait to feel ready. 5. Visualize accomplishing your goals.
It's very hard to get ready to work in the morning. Especially during the whole day keep in a good mood in front of the monitor. After 4 hours you feel already squeezed lemon)))) Interesting video with the drawn little men)) Thanks Bobby!
I never thought i will upload drawings on the internet at least one or two years from today but now two drawings of mine are floting on the internet. Thank you sir and sorry for my bad English.
I just love how much this was universal. Well yeah you kept talking about art, but for a really long time I couldn't motivate myself to start studying for a big competition. I always kept telling myself that I won't manage anyway, that I'm lazy and it's pointless, but when I watched this I just fell happier and happier hearing that you believe in us because you know we CAN. I just wanted you to know how grateful I am for your words. Thank you!
Awesome slaps!! I just can't believe that you showed such fantastic ways to control mind and also how to visualize your goals! I wanna see your views over how to prepare portfolio for specific studio's job!?
My desk is ALWAYS ready XD I have two desks in an L shape, one is with my scanner, printer, computer etc. and the other is a drawing desk, with my sketchbook and pencils always there. I put finished works in a binder so they're not in the way, but I can easily reach for them. I know way too many people who are always trying to get better without actually presenting their work anywhere. In my opinion the best way to realize it's not neccessary to do that are manga (or maybe I feel that way because my main interest are comics): some of them are drawn just BADLY. There's no other way to call it XD And if you follow one or the other for years, you notice how much better the author has become over time (especially if you go back and read the first chapter again). Even if your drawings are crap, if you have a good story to tell, you will find your audience. And you WILL get better over time, if you keep drawing!

The best motivational video ever,i was demotivated a lot,and in doubt with myself. But after see this video,i literally felt some goosebumps and my mind just blow In the end of the video,i was laughing alone and so happy, and i don't know why; or better, i know exactly why. Omg the "Punch laziness in the face" animation made me laugh so hard haha
years later it still gets me everytime. `The pallete and the pencils flying to the side are also a gem
I keep repeating that part over and over again.
When I was 6 years old my uncle had a litter of puppies. My uncle sat me in a chair, put a fluffy jellybean in my arms and said that he would be mine if my parents said yes. Absolutely loved the part where your character smacked the lazy one, made me chuckle! These videos are really helpful in more ways than one.
as 30+ year old your speech around 4:00 did make me panic :D
This video is so helpful, thank you! I have been coming back to see it a lot!
You are like a zen art master. I wish I had found this channel earlier, but maybe the right time is now. Thank you for being so generous with your teachings.
I love this video, it is ideal for those days when doubt freezes me, thank you very much!
I was tired when I started watching this but after those punches I really woke up. Holy hell I got startled.
I love how you animated the little guy punching laziness, it made me LOL. It's how I feel about my own laziness sometimes.
I feel balancing life and art is extremely difficult. I make time for drawing, but then don't draw because I feel bad that I'm takign time away from other things- and then nothing gets done.

Thanks bobby this is actually what I really wanted to hear. Laziness is my worst enemy.
that little animation was so good! Great message as usual
It's very hard to get ready to work in the morning. Especially during the whole day keep in a good mood in front of the monitor. After 4 hours you feel already squeezed lemon)))) Interesting video with the drawn little men)) Thanks Bobby!

My ear! Thanks for the advice
giggled so hard at the punching laziness in the face part.
I just love how much this was universal. Well yeah you kept talking about art, but for a really long time I couldn't motivate myself to start studying for a big competition. Just what I needed to hear. Thank you so much Bobby !
Just the best advices I listened today. Thank you
point four is exactly me! That is a good punch for me to start designing my portfolio even it's not perfect. Thank you.
Glad that point was relatable and helpful for you!!😊 Thanks for watching!
~s
i should see this video every day, keep doing your great work!!!!
what would be interesting: how to deal with the occasions when you want to stop after 2 or 15 minutes?
Best video about motivation I've watched. Thank you!
Thank you Bobby, I listened to this video everyone morning :D
thank you bobby, you are such a great inspiration
Hahah! "punch laziness in the face!". Thanks for the LOL, bobby. And the video, of course.
Thanks Bobby!
Awesome, thank you Bobby!

Hi Bobby, thank you for this video, I really needed it today. It made me cry and made want to go on with my art.
I love this so much! Why doesnt this have more thumbs up? Let's smack our lazy selves up! Woo! Currently in the process of simply having the habit of this activation energy. These type of videos truly help as I feel like I'm surrounded by lower energy people with no passion. Thank you for making this, Bobby. Hope to see you soon when I have a better portfolio. Going back to ground zero.
I always finish listening to your videos with a lot more confidence in myself and my goals, I wouldn't normally comment but just wanted to say thank you :) (side note: if you ever had a change of heart career wise you'd make an excellant life coach ). peace and love :) x
thank you so much Charleigh. Knowing that you don't usually comment makes me appreciate your comment even more. I have a new video coming this Thursday!
