This is everything I needed to hear when I was getting out of high school. I had the classic “two years of community college and two years of university” plan with NO idea what kind of career I wanted. I was a terrible student in high school (and still am) and three semesters of college led to me getting sick of it and spending the next few years working dead end jobs. I finally started a machining course at 23, and I’m mere months from graduating at 25. I kick myself every single day for not exploring other options because I could have had a six figure job by the time I was old enough to buy alcohol. My advice to anyone out there who’s at that age where you’re thinking about your future is to listen to Blade and keep an open mind.

Right now I am in second year of it I am studying graphics and printing.... Unfortunately for you, the rx-7 has inflated like crazy and its not really very reachable for most people, + the additional crazy amount of maintenance cost those rx-7s have because of that rotary engine..
Yeah, the RX-7 is definitely on the more slightly unreachable end. I learned after I made the original comment about all the oil & engine stuff they've got going on lol. Luckily a Miata is my #1 pick, and they're a lot easier to get
My dream car is the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 8. They don’t make them anymore but I have a 2004 Lancer LS, which looks almost like it, so I’m gonna make it my dream care 2.0 and mod it.

I'm almost graduating from community college majoring in automotive technology. My professors are always saying that there is a shortage of technicians and companies such as Toyota, BMW, Mercedes, Cummins, etc. are always sending representatives to my college looking for prospective employees and offering internships. Whenever people like you say "You don't need college to succeed" it reminds me of my high school college advisor in my senior year. She saw I had some of the highest grades and was fully expecting that I go to some prestigious university in my state. When I told her I wanted to go to a community college and learn a trade, she was at a loss for words.

The part about Tiger parenting is very true. My parents gave me my own voice and while that may have lead me into trouble at points, it taught me to be responsible for my own actions and that my life is my own. So many of my friends had parents who were very strict in one way or another and it lead to most of the negative emotions they had during their adolescent years. They never felt like they had a voice inside their own home. That's just so messed up. It doesn't cause someone to be more responsible, it's the opposite infact. When you're bared from freedom you'll subconsciously take any bit of freedom you can. So instead of making mistakes that gets you detention or your video games taken away from you. You're making mistakes that could destroy your entire life. To anyone that reads this if you have a strict parent you have the right to stand up for yourself. In the moment the consequences might suck but you deserve so much better. It might even lead to opening your parents eyes. Don't be scared to talk to them about how you feel, they were your age once as well.

I'm lucky to have asian parents but not "YOU BE DOCTAA" or "YOU NEED UNIVERSITY" and listen when I said "yeah nah I wanna be a mechanic" and we're really supportive and really pushed me to do what I wanted when I felt shitty or on the verge of giving up and I'm currently doing tafe "community college for the American" and at very good tafe and I wouldn't want it any other way. But parent are asian so still want me to finish year 12, 1 year left. 😁

I told them i want to go to William and Mary which is surprisingly easier to get into than I thought and my parents are supportive. But of course are making me work my ass off. They made a deal that if I get into a good college, doesnt have to be W&M, then they would get me whatever car I want, which they know is either a S2000, Forester 2.5XT, or a Civic Type R.
My advice : each January, do a budget for the upcoming year including the saving for your dream (car) and try to follow your plan. Bought a Porsche Cayman at 29 so I guess it works
A lot happened last year to me, my relationship ended and I lost my dog, my home and close family relatives that raised me. My corolla was also about to break and had an accident already. To be clear: college is necessary depending on the career path you wish to choose. An auto mechanic doesn’t need 4 years in college and a degree in psychology to succeed. It should also be said that touring a campus is an absolute if you are seriously thinking about going to a college. Learn the layout, both of the college and the area around it. What are the job opportunities like? What’s the rent pricing in that area? Do they have good dorms? Most importantly tackle one thing at a time. You don’t have to do everything at once (unless you are a procrastinator like me and you save everything till the last second). If you are a procrastinator treat every day like you have a science fair project you need to complete from start to finish in 3 days. That usually helps.

K 9 I think you can import them as a show car and then drive them up to 5000 miles a year or something like that. You’d probably need another daily driver though unless you don’t drive very often.
Real talk in this video here and mirrors my experiences. I basically dropped out of high school at 17 and floated around for awhile before going to community college at 20. Aced my way through community college (3.97GPA) and transferred into an Ivy League university (business school). Learned a hard lesson there in that once you graduate, nobody cares where you went to school if you have no experience. If you are in university YOU NEED TO DO INTERNSHIPS. I worked my entire time while I was in school but it had nothing to do with my degree which screwed me over in the long run. Eventually stumbled into getting a job in marketing and taught myself the skills to branch off and landed a job doing marketing for a pharmaceutical company. From there I went into entrepreneurship and own a prescription delivery business in my late 20s. If you want to be successful long-term you either need to land the 1/1000 top tier jobs in Finance or Tech where your bonuses are insane (nobody makes $1,000,000 a year salary, they make $250,000 a year salary with $1,000,000 in stock options/bonuses), or you need to go into entrepreneurship. It doesn't have to be anything fancy or flashy, but you would be surprised how many small business owners are extremely successful filling a local niche. Even your local McDonald's franchisee makes about $2,000,000 in revenue a year (with a 20% profit margin leaving them around $400,000 in profit). Prescription drug delivery isn't glamorous, nobody wants to interview me, but I work 25 hours a week and make more than any of my friends. Find a niche, and monetize on it.
I'm going into a trade school next year and I seriously can't wait, I recommended it to anyone struggling academically, if you work better hands on, trade school is the way to go. You can still go to college after it too, if anything it will help with it. But its not for everyone, do your research before committing

I'm lucky enough to own 1 of my 2 dream cars. A 1965, Volkswagen beetle! I adore him and use him as much as humanly possible. We havent repainted him, hes in original paint with old dents from his past life but hes perfect for me. The second one, (currently alittle hard for me to get) is a 1994 mustang. Yes it doesn't look as mean and it isnt as iconic as the 60s or 2000s one, but I have an odd attraction to it. Maybe in the future?
Very wise words! I went to a community college and became a pilot. In-demand trades are usually better than college straight out since it costs WAY less for whatever certificate you need for the trade, and you can start working and making a return on that much sooner than if you get a degree. If you still feel like you need a degree later on, then you can slowly pay out of pocket for it, but rarely is it necessary unless you're going into some management position for your company. Most parents want their kids to get a degree since it was a much better deal in their own time. However, now colleges are way more expensive, and with a lot less return once you join the workforce.
My dream car is also an ae86. I am 14 and my current car is a 2002 Firebird. It's a failed project, because it is so rusty, most of the car is rotten. I'm going to sell the parts off of it that are still good, and buy me an NA Miata, mostly because it is similar to the ae86, and I believe it is a car that I will thoroughly enjoy. I will turn 15 soon so I will be eligible for my learner's permit. I hope, someday, you will get the ae86 that you dream about buying. I wish you luck!

My dad let's me drive around in empty parking lots, so hopefully, I will pass the driving test the 1st time I take it. I want to be a mechanic when I'm older, so fixing cars really helps. I am Australian so this might not apply exactly to you, but if you check import laws you can important them for 500 - 1k. the only Australian requirement is they have to be 15 years old before you can drive them with left hand drive. Then its just a matter of getting it rego.

I'm almost graduating from community college majoring in automotive technology. My professors are always saying that there is a shortage of technicians and companies such as Toyota, BMW, Mercedes, Cummins, etc. are always sending representatives to my college looking for prospective employees and offering internships.
Whenever people like you say "You don't need college to succeed" it reminds me of my high school college advisor in my senior year. She saw I had some of the highest grades and was fully expecting that I go to some prestigious university in my state. When I told her I wanted to go to a community college and learn a trade, she was at a loss for words.

My dream car is an RX-8 R3 and I hope to get one soon after college, I’m really glad I saw this video and got a lot more valuable information from it than I expected. The part about Tiger parenting is very true. My parents gave me my own voice and while that may have lead me into trouble at points, it taught me to be responsible for my own actions and that my life is my own. So many of my friends had parents who were very strict in one way or another and it lead to most of the negative emotions they had during their adolescent years. They never felt like they had a voice inside their own home. That's just so messed up. It doesn't cause someone to be more responsible, it's the opposite infact. When you're bared from freedom you'll subconsciously take any bit of freedom you can. So instead of making mistakes that gets you detention or your video games taken away from you. You're making mistakes that could destroy your entire life. To anyone that reads this if you have a strict parent you have the right to stand up for yourself. In the moment the consequences might suck but you deserve so much better. It might even lead to opening your parents eyes. Don't be scared to talk to them about how you feel, they were your age once as well.

To be clear: college is necessary depending on the career path you wish to choose. An auto mechanic doesn’t need 4 years in college and a degree in psychology to succeed. It should also be said that touring a campus is an absolute if you are seriously thinking about going to a college. Learn the layout, both of the college and the area around it. What are the job opportunities like? What’s the rent pricing in that area? Do they have good dorms? Most importantly tackle one thing at a time. You don’t have to do everything at once (unless you are a procrastinator like me and you save everything till the last second).
If you are a procrastinator treat every day like you have a science fair project you need to complete from start to finish in 3 days. That usually helps.

Real talk in this video here and mirrors my experiences.
I basically dropped out of high school at 17 and floated around for awhile before going to community college at 20. Aced my way through community college (3.97GPA) and transferred into an Ivy League university (business school).
Learned a hard lesson there in that once you graduate, nobody cares where you went to school if you have no experience. If you are in university YOU NEED TO DO INTERNSHIPS. I worked my entire time while I was in school but it had nothing to do with my degree which screwed me over in the long run.
Eventually stumbled into getting a job in marketing and taught myself the skills to branch off and landed a job doing marketing for a pharmaceutical company. From there I went into entrepreneurship and own a prescription delivery business in my late 20s.
If you want to be successful long-term you either need to land the 1/1000 top tier jobs in Finance or Tech where your bonuses are insane (nobody makes $1,000,000 a year salary, they make $250,000 a year salary with $1,000,000 in stock options/bonuses), or you need to go into entrepreneurship. It doesn't have to be anything fancy or flashy, but you would be surprised how many small business owners are extremely successful filling a local niche. Even your local McDonald's franchisee makes about $2,000,000 in revenue a year (with a 20% profit margin leaving them around $400,000 in profit). Prescription drug delivery isn't glamorous, nobody wants to interview me, but I work 25 hours a week and make more than any of my friends. Find a niche, and monetize on it.

I'm lucky enough to own 1 of my 2 dream cars. A 1965, Volkswagen beetle! I adore him and use him as much as humanly possible. We havent repainted him, hes in original paint with old dents from his past life but hes perfect for me.
The second one, (currently alittle hard for me to get) is a 1994 mustang. Yes it doesn't look as mean and it isnt as iconic as the 60s or 2000s one, but I have an odd attraction to it. Maybe in the future?
Had a chance to buy a mustang GTS and now I regret it. Oh well, at least I have my 3v as a daily...
Keep up the hard work! I know if you end up saving a little more when you can you'll end up getting that mustang if you haven't yet!

Very wise words! I went to a community college and became a pilot. In-demand trades are usually better than college straight out since it costs WAY less for whatever certificate you need for the trade, and you can start working and making a return on that much sooner than if you get a degree. If you still feel like you need a degree later on, then you can slowly pay out of pocket for it, but rarely is it necessary unless you're going into some management position for your company. Most parents want their kids to get a degree since it was a much better deal in their own time. However, now colleges are way more expensive, and with a lot less return once you join the workforce.

My dream car is also an ae86. I am 14 and my current car is a 2002 Firebird. It's a failed project, because it is so rusty, most of the car is rotten. I'm going to sell the parts off of it that are still good, and buy me an NA Miata, mostly because it is similar to the ae86, and I believe it is a car that I will thoroughly enjoy. I will turn 15 soon so I will be eligible for my learner's permit. I hope, someday, you will get the ae86 that you dream about buying. I wish you luck!

@@syrianiac It's simple. My dad bought me a car to fix. I never said I actually drove it. I'm 15 now, so I am eligible for my drivers permit, which I'm going to get this summer. My dad let's me drive around in empty parking lots, so hopefully, I will pass the driving test the 1st time I take it. I want to be a mechanic when I'm older, so fixing cars really helps. I hope this cleared up some vague details.

The fees to get a american car over to EU is insane
I am Australian so this might not apply exactly to you, but if you check import laws you can important them for 500 - 1k. the only Australian requirement is they have to be 15 years old before you can drive them with left hand drive. Then its just a matter of getting it rego.
Yeah cars in Europe are expensive, any of my dream cars aren't brand new but over a decade old. All are expensive af because Europe.

@@alex19gt Yeah, feel you totally. I mean, my dream car is an Ls3 Corvette c6 targa, been dreaming about that car since i was little, playing need for speed. These cars now go for about 30k Euros used, in very good shape, here in EU. But man, since i live in Italy, i have to take care of every fucking penny, that a car like this would cost me to buy with a funding at 20%, the maintaining cost, and also the fuel economy.
