They haves some awesome "behind the scenes" tours available sometimes when pre-arranged. The reptile and penguin ones are fantastic. Pass this zoo almost every day. It's reputation is so well deserved.
You should do the big cats behind the scenes. We got to go underneath big cat country to see where they house all the cats and it’s incredible how close you get to the lions and tigers. They’re so beautiful up close.
I am a volunteer docent at this zoo. In particular, I have a friendship with an orangutan named Merah. At 51 years old, she’s seen a great deal, but she loves looking at pictures of ballplayers in my Baseball Hall of Famers book. The Colobus monkeys like the pictures too. There was one time where I went to the bathroom. When I came back, they were still sitting right near the glass wanting to see more pictures.
Wonderful! Long ago in depression days the zoo was free and about the only place a family could be entertained. Back in the day, there were lion, elephant and chimp shows, lion and tiger cubs brought to grassy areas for children to pet and elephant rides. Not possible today, of course, but all fondly remembered. I've often said I was raised at the zoo, it was my family's favorite activity. So glad it's still a free experience and constantly improving.
Sounds lovely, I hope you're well Jean
One of the finest zoos i have ever visited
My 3 year old and myself really enjoyed this video from NC. We appreciate all the time and great videos you were able to capture of all the animals. Thank you!
The Penguin/Puffin Coast feels wonderful on a hot and humid St Louis summer day! I like close by and will often go when they first open and beat the crowds. We pay a bit of an extra tax to keep the zoo free. Many other attractions in Forest Park are free as well…courtesy of that small tax.
St. Louis native, just visited the Zoo yesterday and visited the new primate exhibit that they showed in the video and couldn't recommend it more. All of the primates shown in the video that are indoors are now able to access the outside exhibit when they please, through a series of tunnels connected to their interior enclosures. They also have a climbing course to climb up to the same level as the monkeys, fun for both kids and adults.
Glad to hear that
The climbing course at primate canopy may be fun for kids, but not so much for adults. I’ve only done it once and almost got stuck a couple times.
Yeah that's a really good zoo. I always love it when i hear free. You still end up spending plenty lol
There are only three AZA accredited zoos that have free admission.
great video 😊
the primate canopy trail opens up next month can't wait 😁
As a Saint Louis resident I approve , also the staff is very friendly so that makes it nice too :))
I grew up in saint louis. Saint Louis have a good zoo.
What a beautiful zoo that exhibited animals superbly!
❤❤❤❤
I have been drenched by the penguins multiple times
Awesome zoo!
Awesome! Amezing! Wonderful.
You’re lucky that a lot of the animals were out and active. Usually you will not see all of them out like this especially the cats.
I usually go around 9:30 and 10 because they’re most active when they first come out.
I’m going to St. Louis this weekend!
I live near St.Louis so I go to St.Louis Zoo, and of course the St.Louis Cardinals games as well
The leaf one is coolest
That's a great zoo
Love your vlogs....You say you live near Disney. As do I.....Clermont FL. Keep up the great work.
Oh dang, you are one town over from us
A Capybara is literally my favorite animal!! It's my profile pic for My Disney+ Account!! LOL
We really enjoyed watching the incredible video you captured from the St. Louis Zoo, including the high quality zooms you were able to get. Hope you don't mind if I ask what type of camera you were using?
Sony FDR AX53

@@IntheLoopPodcast oh I went on June 1
7:31
How long does it take to enjoy the entire zoo?
Depends on you pace and interests but between 3-5 hours
@@IntheLoopPodcast thanks!
I’ve been known to stay six hours since I’m one of the volunteers.
@@Powerranger-le4up since you're familiar with the zoo, how easy (or hard) is it to find shade throughout the zoo? Just trying to figure out if I'll die if I go in the summer or if I should wait for our 3 days of fall.
@@angiebee2225 It’s well shaded with tons of trees, water fans, buildings with AC to cool down…
Did you get to see any bats?
🦇💝🦇💝
No bats there.
@@HonestlyAnnaFun aww too bad🙀
I like the Madagascar area. But I didn't like the spider area. . . no thanks to spiders
Though spooky, spiders eat other insects we see as pests. They're creepy but helpful.
I feel that I hate snakes a lot and I'm scared of them so I can't go into the snake house because of that
There are other animals besides snakes in the Reptile house. You don’t have to look at the snakes, but there are frogs, lizards, hellbenders, and turtles too.
You totally got the name wrong on the polar bear 😆 🤣 😂 it's not a her nor is it name cali it's a boy and his name is Koda
That pacing the animals do is not activeness its a sign of severe bordeom bordering on torture...its common in zoos
I volunteer there. What you actually saw was a common behavior called territory patrolling.
Yes the pacing behavior depends on the animal. Some animals do have stereotypical behaviors that have a symptom of pacing and are treated by the keepers. And other animals like jaguars and zebras practice the territory patrol.
Is that snow leopard partially blind his eyes are not in sync
I noticed that too
