This feels like a product from the future. I'm shocked it didn't take them years longer to start releasing modding-friendly versions of their keyboards
Bro this is literally the same process as any other hot swap keyboard on the market (from $50-1000). Only thing different is the switches
@@manfromwuhan714 yeah, but there isn't another gaming keyboard manufacturer that allows this much room for modding their keyboard. And it also happens to be the best performing gaming keyboard? That's wild
You new to keyboards?
@@DoctorQcumber simply calling it the best performing keyboard doesnât do it justice in the slightest, itâs the only keyboard you can get joystick level control with and itâs instant reset on release of the key makes the keyboard 1000% more responsive than anything else you can get
â @@manfromwuhan714nope. lol. Wooting is the first keyboard to offer rapid trigger and other features that benefit you in gaming. Most gaming prebuilts are trash. Name a better gaming keyboard than Wooting⊠Iâll wait
Keep in mind, this is a keyboard directed towards GAMING. Nobody here is trying to buy this keyboard for its aesthetic and âsoundâ, like most of yâall build custom keyboards for.
I love how wooting is showing they are listening to the community! Theyâre trying to bring the best products out for gaming while not totally disgusting the custom enthusiasts
I've watched videos of yours here and there when I'm searching for a specific video, but after watching this one, I subscribed. The information provided is perfect for those of us who are excited and waiting to receive our 60HE's and want more information in anticipation of having our hands on it. That, plus the footage showing you gaming has a nice little highlight & the segue into the sponsored segment was perfect. I look forward to keeping up with your content.
Your explaination style is one of the best on youtube or anywhere. You say what needs to be said, directly with no extra words and warn about what matters.
It's like you read my mind with the Tofu case! In my eyes it helps the Wooting go from a gamer specialty board to something I'd want to use everyday for WFH AND game with.
Keep up the awesome work Brian!
Im only halfway through the video and itâs already the most informative video Iâve watched about keyboards, it showed me an amazing foam for keyboards, perfect set to deal with switches, and a line syringe. Thank you man I love this video.
A keyboard that looks nice, and that has a super performance in gaming!
This definitely caught up my attention, great job Wooting!
started to mod mine today I really loves what Wooting is doing here taking all the feedback they can to cater to its customers been loving my board and the modding is going quite well all we need is mouse company with Wootings work ethics life would be complete
Wooting showing actual interest in the community and taking in feedback. Love to see it, great vid as always bro đ„
The diligence you put into this video is insane. Wow, thank you
Been rocking mine for about a month. Well worth the wait. Done some mods. Great company.
pre ordered mine yesterday. your review sold me. can't wait to try that rapid trigger setting.
**UPDATE** The og Tofu60 has been discontinued, there is a new Tofu60 Redux shipping in Sept. Its a great case for the Wooting and you can check out the video on it here - czcams.com/video/jLhoW5R21_g/video.html
Just went ahead and sent a pre-order through their site. Have been wanting an upgrade from my Anne Pro 2 for the last 3 years now, so much so that I've been debating making a custom board but this video convinced me otherwise. Can't wait to see what it's like in person. Exceptional video as always đ
**THE FOLLOWING IS FROM WOOTING BUT CZcams KEEPS DELETING THIS COMMENT**
"This is an amazing overview for modding and beyond what we could think or show ourselves. On behalf of the Wooting community and ourselves: big thanks. The burger mount is a good suggestion! Some useful information for anybody looking to mod their 60HE:
The Wooting 60HE 2D/3D design files, we publish everything on our GitHub:
github.com/WootingKb/wooting-design/tree/main/wooting-60he
Public list of 60% cases verified by us or the community (updated over time, not limited to):
wooting-technologies.notion.site/de7a52e2b5a941258a17e448b0c9d9b0?v=5ec0b31c59db4a51b8a86a1288249e9f
Concerning swappable switch plates, we are looking into them. We are most concerned about the integrity of the Analog signal, but it should be possible! If you attempt a custom plate yourself, there's been a few on the Wooting community that have done it successfully. You'll need to match the PCB screws with the custom plate (creating holes) and use spacers to attach them."
Can you use a gummy o-ring mount with your custom plates?
Love the content and the professionalism of each video!
Such an amazing video really well done youâre just surpassing your self in each video and keep getting better and better keep it up man so much love and support stay up!.
Thanks so much!
I really appreciate your vids on this board. They were def the reason I pulled the trigger on the Wooting 60heâŠI am extremely stoked to get it and will be doing the tofu60 mods being tested around 7:18. Def gained a new sub đđœđ€đœ
If you wrap the tape mod up along the sides of the PCB and plate (filling the gap between the two), you can get a clean sound and depending on layers even forgo case foam. I recommend some wheel balancing weights in the battery cavity of the Tofu case, tape mod as described and maybe a small bit of polyfill if needed.
Thank you so much for experimenting for me so I don't have to. Mine comes in a couple of weeks and Im so excited, but didnt want to have to deal with experimenting over and over until I found what I like. I think I know exactly what Im going to do now. Thanks, king
You're really killing it with this video.
i for one appreciate the last statement in this video and acknowledging the suggestion of the content. didnât have to do that, but itâs a nice earnest addition.
FINALLY got to actually use some of the info in this video! I've been waiting for so long to get my wooting and then had to wait even longer to case swap it and mod it. I'm mostly typiung this comment because I love the way this board sounds now and its so much better than before I modded it. Thanks!!!!!
Extremely well made and informative video. Thanks for the good work!
New here, but the fact that I'm seeing good Wooting content from someone in a cool Roland shirt makes me glad to be alive. Gotta appreciate the algorithm, +sub
Glad to have you!
ive been thinking of getting this board, now im def getting it. I like how you can customize the case (going for a tofu 60 case), and being able to lube the switch without losing the ability to change the actuation point. Might go for the 100% tho, Thanks for this awesome content
Dud i remember watching this channel when it had like 12k, glad you blew up
Just bought the wooting, lube, a tofu 60% and Keycaps for the board today canât wait for it to come in
You seriously improved the sound. I'd like to see this keyboard in a 65% with dedicated arrow keys. I'm not waiting and holding my breath for a 65%. I'll buy the 60% and be happy with it in a tofu case with a keycap swap.
mine arrived today, so far I really love it! And thanks to Mr Badseed my desk has this kbd, a schiit stack and a pair of DT1990 Pro's, all purchased with confidence. Many thanks đ
i was JUST looking at tofu60 cases and stupidfish foams for it. thanks for this video, you the goat!!!
The Lekker switches don't need to be swapped to south facing to avoid interference. Gateron has added a new fillet to their new molds (ever since the Oil Kings I think) which avoids north facing interference with Cherry profile keycaps, which the Lekker has. Just a heads up if you happen to see this.
nice to know. ive been seeing in the wooting discord we should flip the switches. thanks
Just want to confirm that this is true based on our tests, but since we don't own GMK caps, we do not have enough confidence to officially recommend it and it's more "flashy" and easy to understand as there are a lot of people that forgot the reason for south facing switches.,
I test it myself, there is still a little interference with Cherry profile keycaps. But not very obvious.
Glad I found this video, I just ordered my keyboard. I still donât know Michael bout modding or lubing so this will help me out when it arrives.
Late to comment but I just received my board and I have some recommendations for those who follow this guide.
1. Absolutely relube the stabilizers on this board, they seem like they are lubed well but they are not... I took mine apart to see how well they were lubed, and they had lube just in the wrong locations or there just wasn't enough. I recommend following Taehatypes video on lubing stabs!
2. CLIP the stabs they are not preclipped.
3.I went ahead and used a silicone mix to help with the sound of the board and it came out fantastic! You could also go with a foam mod kit from StupidFish they make a kit for a lot of cases and the Tofu 60 is one of them.
4. I also swapped my springs for the lighter 50gm springs, and I can say it may not be worth it the slightly heavier springs are just fine however if you like a lighter feel than go for it.
All that said after following this guide and doing the above mods I can say my board sounds and feels soooooo much better. Give it a try and come back to tell me how your boards sound!
hey man, ty for tips. do you think the internals could fit in the bakeneko? I cant stand the tofu lol
Love your content man, getting into keyboards and audio was a blast thanks to your vids.
Appreciate you showing the burger mount, this is the exact config I wanted to go for. Unlucky that the steel plate limits the sound so much. Really wish wooting would offer fr4 options
Always looking forward to a new Badseed vid :D just started training up for a WFH job, staving off the temptation for a new silent board build đ for now
Great video man.
knew I had to watch this vid as soon as the notification came up
cannot wait to get my hands on this board
Damn Brian that actually sounds pretty solid!!
Thanks for the tips!
Ive been using a screw driver then using the prongs on the top part of the switch to open them up for a while. This way works better than most switch openers out there in my experience
This will come in handy, cheers mate
I really like the kbd fans board with the wooting dampening.
Exact video I was looking for to kick off my custom build. Thanks, BadSeedTech, liked and subscribed.
Appreciate you! Got some new Wooting and KBD stuff coming up too
I'm following this, and I just bought a lot of the stuff in the video. Thank you for the information.
I ended up going with the GMK Yuri R2 keycaps, but everything else is the same
I been using a Wooting One TKL from the Kickstarter for like 5+ years now, with no issues. My roommates USB port went out on his after a year, but he normally goes thru at least 1 kb per year so not a fault of the Wooting.
such a good ad segway I actually watched the entire ad.
Thanks! I've actively been looking for sponsors that exist in the PC space that aren't things that I usually review.
Wooting is such a God send. They set out to make the objectively best gaming keyboard out there and did their damnest to make is customizable so everyone can have the best experience possible. They easily became my favorite gaming company the second I heard of them.
Awesome video as always
Thanks man!
Good morning itâs 9Am here and I shall watch this epic mod.
You did it man! Iâve joined the hype train đ I literally bought all the items needed and im going to try out my first custom (well semi custom) built keyboard! Appreciate the video!
One question though; if I use the wooting mat mod, can I still use the zip on the inner deeper area of the tofu to cover that part at least with it?
nice video really appreciate the effort that went into modding it, have you considered maybe installing the pcb in a fjell ? would be even better than a tofu and should theoretically fit
I'm glad I'm not the only one who cracks open switches with a tight fist! Man up baby! Hahaha. Love the mods bro. Great video as always. đ€
As usual great video and coverage for people who want to take make wooting custom. Wooting just need to release their plate file and in no time you can easily get aftermarket plate for this pcb. There are vendors who are willing to make custom fr4 and carbon fibre plate but plate file is needed to get it done.
Its incredible to me the amount of thought these guys put into this board. With how accessible the tofu is in general, this board ends up being more than good enough for the average gamer/gaming keyboard user. Sure the enthusiasts may harp on things like the steel plate and stiffness but to the everyday consumer, a tofu and some lube can send their typing and gaming experience to the moon, and that is so fucking cool.
Also love that you walked through specifically how to mod this as well - I can also see this being a great guide for modding and making improvements for ANY gaming board, not even just this one.
Awesome vid man, you can really tell that you care to get consumers the best experience possible and we love to see that.
đđŒ appreciate you man
I watch this guys videos like five times and every-time I find little nuances that I didnât see the first time. Almost like watching a movie đđđ
Ayo I appreciate that fr. I always try to put little easter eggs in there
I have been seeing this keybaord pop up a lot in 2023, and I feel the strap is a must imo, it is more the feeling of if a friend comes over or you walk into a LAN, that strap catches eyes and puts fear in the air, as they know- they know you have an advantage on movement and rapid keystrokes! haha but thats just me, I like little gimics like that, but I can see the pros of modding, and really making a sleeper keyboard ;)
Strap in folks, it's another banger video from keyboard daddy. lmao. Great work as always sir! Love these deep dives into serious modding.
Gigawho!?
Great video, you went deep on this one...
11:20 LOOK AT HIM HE KNOWS HOW SMOOTH THE ADD WAS YOOOO MAN THAT WAS AMAZINGđâš
Looking forward to more IEM content. I just picked up the sennheiser ie 600s and love them. Be cool to hear your thoughts
I wasn't considering a 60%, but I am now...
Love those Grand Prix keycaps, but holy cow, $$$!
6:34 Zipfit damp
7:10 Wooting damp
This is just for me to compare which sound I like better
Wooting damp sounds deeper
That Roland T is fire.
I love the keyboard stuff. For me, I'm cool with whatever you feel like making.
Thanks!
that spacebar is pristine
Love the humor â€
Nice vid!
that Roland shirt goes crazy.
Thank you Mr Seed
Thanks for using GMK Grand Prix. Glad you like the set!
Wow the designer themselves! Amazing. Its a beautiful set - thanks for putting it into the world.
@@badseedtech shoutout to Biip for pushing me hard to make this project happens :)
Man the sound of the board with the dampeninf and tape mod is nice. But I only use TKL and made my glorious board 2 years ago and have no issues thankfully lol
Great vid, I'll stick to stock
God I've been waiting so much for this!! Grat stuff Bryan! :D
Edit: Hope Wooting do listen to the enthusiasts, as PCB Mount Stabs and Alu/FR4 Plates would be a MASSIVE upgrade - and yeah, I would definitely ditch my Bakaneko60 for it. Also, I've seen people modding the PCB into the Blade60 case, and it is indeed a nice alternative (The standoffs are removable and have their own take on the burguer mount).
ily - wonderful video!
thanks so much!
Thanks for the tip about the titanium switch puller. I have the Rama one and it sucks. It bends so easily.
I'm still waiting on my board to come in so this video is preparing me to spend even more money
What a bad ass shirt, BST!
Honestly I like the way it looks stock way better
This video is next level
You can prevent scratching the paint if you pull the switch up straight instead of rocking the puller back and forth when pulling the switch out. It's harder and the switch comes out more violently but nothing bad is going to happen. If you have a sturdy hand and pull without holding back you'll get them out faster and better this way.
Great info! Did you try a resin or acrylic case? From what I gather, it should sound deeper than the aluminum. I probably won't bother with a case swap on mine, just lube and spring swap, but if it sounds really deep in resin or acrylic, I might consider it.
If you want a nicer case try and get hold of one of a Mekanisk Fjell or Klippe. They have the same mounting points as a Tofu but sound and look much better. Also its a shame the PCB and plate sounded so crappy in the Salvation because they board does sound really good normally.
Some of the more flexible plate materials might work if you used some plate foam.
one of the things you can do to make a plate work without standoffs is to put a small dab of hot glue on all of the fixing pins in the pcb to keep it all nicely together. It's removable still, but secure!
Would it be okay to use the o ring mounts in the original housing for the full sized Wooting two he? Never done any modding but it seems like it could be a good investment of time along with maybe lubing my switches. Thanks for the video!!
Where do you get your mousepads? The designs are sick! I am going to purchase yours, but want a funky bright design to switch out. Any recommendations?
Oh yeah! It's IEM time baby!
I wish they would make a TKL version of this.
There is! Itâs called the Wooting tkl
@@bogstonbormier3887 There is no such keyboard lol. Maybe you're referring to the Wooting One, which is a TKL keyboard, but it's not the same tech as the Wooting 60HE.
No BS guide is so convenient
Would definitely try it out if I could mess around with plate files :)
wow modding this is so good
Really like how far you managed to push it. The tripod stickers seem to isolate the switch instead of resonating through the rest of the board. I like that, but it seems like an absolute PITA.
I'm personally a huge fan of the meatier bottom out of long pole switches, but that doesn't seem feasible with this magnet design.
Also, really can't get over tactiles. Can't stand linears.
Love how technically impressive this hardware is and love that Wooting enables you to go custom with it. The USB port placement is a bit unfortunate but you can still get it to work, so it's just a minor issue I guess.
Will definitely recommend 60HE to people who are into gaming and linears and try to fix them on some custom stuff later down the line :)
EDIT: Can you mount this by wrapping an o-ring around or is there not enough room? That might help the sound because the PCB stops making contact with the tray all together.
The âBrazzersâ gag was priceless.
I think you did a great job modding and upgrading this. I hope I win nachocustom's giveaway, I'll probably do a similar mod since I really like how this one turned out.
im gonna be able to mod this keyboard is it ok to go just with the stock one or should i wait for wooting to maybe drop something else down the line?
What is that desk mat? I love the cartoon art!
This is awesome! I have the stupidfish Tofu 60 foam, do you think that will work without issues?
Canât be sure but it should work w minor modding
