@Choudhry Ali They got shot down from the narrow streets below. Of course it would have been impossible to see all potential threats at once, while expertly piloting the helicopters, in such tight manoeuvres at the same time.
And so with out such guarantees, it means these pilots not only expertly manoeuvred their craft, they did so bravely. They knew it might be them getting shot down.
My dad was in the Marine Corps when this operation went down. Thank God he wasn't in the fighting.

It was the Black Hawk supervising the battle, not participating, the ppl inside werw giving directions on where the soldiers had to go, that same chopper also scouted the place out to find the target building before the attack

1st Special Forces Operational Detachment Delta (1-SFOD-D).
It's a hidden component of the Army's Special Operations Command. For Delta, we're interested in the Special Forces Groups (Green Berets).
It's hard to describe exactly what Delta is because, well.. pretty much everything about it is classified. Just understand this. Special Forces is essentially just the overachievers within the military. They go through pretty intense training and selection, but to get in at the lowest levels it isn't that "hard". In fact, for most groups, testing and selection is just about forcing you to quit. You don't have to be some sort of elite super soldier or some rambo-esk macho dude. You just have to be mentally tough and refuse to quit. The rest they'll train in to you.
There are different tiers to Special Forces, however. Delta is considered Tier 1 (along with DEVGRU [SEAL Team 6], and 24th STS [Air Force])... which anyone with a military background can tell you, these guys are legendary.
Unlike with Special Forces programs at the bottom, there is no application process. You are invited to participate in selection. For a group that most would already consider the "best of the best", this selection process has about a 90% dropout rate.

The Rangers and Delta were sent in only to conduct raids throughout Mogadishu to find and capture Mohamed Farrah Aidid and his subordinates. Not at all aid missions. The Marines weren't there to fight, Rangers and Delta were. They were sent in to start shit, and start shit they did. They killed hundreds more enemy combatants than the militia they were fighting did to them. And if the Clinton administration didn't pull out of Somalia like pussies, Rangers and Delta would've finished their job.
