    I dye my hair black (since my early 20's , 37 now) and I'm relaxed. my hair is now grazing bra strap length so it IS possible as long as you take VERY good care of your hair. I don't think bleaching is a good idea though.

    Another tip for not getting a relaxer burn is to just stay out of your hair for about 24 hours up to your relaxer appointment. I used to get burns very easily but after I started doing this, I can sit around with relaxer in my hair like the real MVP. So i usually get my relaxer on a Saturday therefore I won’t manipulate my hair after Thursday night/Friday morning. Haven’t had a burn since!

Also, I’ve just started working out hard core so I will definitely take your advice and give it a rest a couple days before I get a relaxer. That story scared me 😱. Thanks for the warning!

    My hair was nearly as long as yours and so extremely healthy for years. I started going to a hairdresser in 2013 and she pressed my hair, blow-dried it and flat iron it and damage my hair. I asked her to never do that again and when I went back she did it again! I said stop! she thought I like my hair very straight no I like wearing my hair without curls big freaking difference. After 3 years it's just now coming back to life

I showed one of your instagram post to my husband so he can see your hair and he said call your hair stylist and I said give me the money guess what he put it in my acct within 5mins now that lets you know how overdue I am for a relaxer..lol 😁😄😀

    I rollerset my hair with sponge rollers in the night and I find that helps protect my ends as well as allow me to comb my hair in smaller sections which leads to less breakage. I also try and keep my hair up. I watch several CZcamsrs and their hands are always running through their hair/weaves which makes me cringe, because I know that is bad for their hair. Reese is just Precious!

    @styledomination Thank you for a great video. Your have excellent delivery and you are so classy. I'm so hapy to have found your channel. Do you know if the Joico moisture products contain protein? My relaxed hair is extremly brittle and breaking and shedding like crazy lately. I believe is due to using too much product containing protein.

    • @StyleDomination
      @StyleDomination  Před 6 lety +1

      Mercedes Gilligan Hi Mercedes! Thank you so much! My subscribers are so classy. I’m so blessed! No - the Moisture Recovery products do not contain protein. Joico does have the K-pak line which is protein-based. You should only be doing protein treatments (using protein products) on your hair once a month. If your hair is brittle, I’d give the protein products a break. Thanks, luv and good luck!

    I went bald because I wanted to go bold 😂... will never do that again! Deep conditioning is really the thing to do. I do it twice a week and moisturize my ends everytime it needs it. Might be every night or every other night. I only comb/detangle once a week before the shampoo. Otherwise always in a bun or in box braids.

    What are your thoughts on Japanese straightening/thermal reconditioning hair?

    • @StyleDomination
      @StyleDomination  Před 5 lety

      Kari T No...I’m s little worried about the harsh process...

    • @tlibrary2741
      @tlibrary2741 Před 5 lety +2

      I just got it done. And a Japanese Hair Straightening or Thermal Reconditioning compared to a relaxer is so much better than a relaxer. No burning whatsoever. They even wash your hair right before the treatment. Your hair will look and feel better than any relaxer. I have had relaxers in the past for many years, my hair always felt great at first with a retouch then it starts to feel stringy. Stopped relaxing and wanted to go natural and accidentally found this alternative. Your hair will be soft and straight and smooth with no frizz. You can flat iron if you want or let it air dry straight!
      You go only every 6 months, so the price ends up being the same as a regular relaxer which has to be done about every 2 months . I am about 1 month post my Japanese thermal and it still looks and feels great and super healthy. Shedding is minimal to nonexistent. You do have to wait about 6 months for a retouch.Stay tuned to find out what happens in 6 months 🙄
      Make sure you find a professional stylist who is an expert on African American hair. That is very important. A relaxer and this process do not work well together. You have to be either be natural or have had several months of relaxer grown out to do this process. Do some research ahead before committing to this process. Most of the women with typical African American type 4c hair who do this, their hair grows past bsl or longer without too much effort. My hair length is a chin length bob to almost touching my shoulders and I can't wait until it grows even more with this hair process, so it looks so healthy even with a shorter llength.The hair has a lot of body and shine. You can still do braiouts too.
      Highly recommend it!
