Behringer Pro-1 vs Model D vs K-2 part 2 Filters and Modulation

  • Filters and modulation of the three machines and added the Neutron to the mix at 05:21 minutes. I did add a bit of a 'tribal' club groove just as an accent to give it a little drive. The main thing is the differnce in character of the three machines (or four if you include the Neutron)

      I got my Neutron about a month ago and it's fucking great. I needed a warmer analog synth to compliment my more metallic/cold-sounding analog and digital synths, the Korg Minilogue, Volca Modular + FM, Wavestation, Novation Circuit, Casio CZ-101, although the last 2 can certainly have a warmer tone as well.
      The patch bay is extensive enough that I am surprised by it each time I go nuts with my cables. Although, I do kinda wish Behringer included more than 6 cables. Stackables from Tiptop Audio are almost necessary, lol. I hope my 16 cables and 7 stackable cables are sufficient to get the most out of it.

      If I could have only one, for my music it still would be the D. The Neutron is for me the perfect companion. Just because it's really different and more experimental. Not just for the patch bay. More variance in oscillators, lovely digital LFO. Only thing missing is 'that' Moog filter sound. Hence the choice. But don't get me wrong. I would be happy only with the Neutron. It just depends on your style of music you like to make.

    • @Raku777
      @Raku777 Před 4 lety

      @@RobertIverMusic Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Yes, both the Model D and the Neutron are wonderful synths. I understand the "Moog" sound and how one could choose the D over the N. One reason I chose the Neutron is that it can play two notes (paraphonic mode) at the same time and I use a lot of two note chords (mainly D and A). They do work well together and I have watched a lot of videos of some very wonderful compositions with both of them. I am downsizing to a very specific set of synths and modules.

I recognized the patch because it's one of my favorite patches on the ms20. But I just use the amp on the ESP and go directly into the Total input for a super grungy overdrive. mmm It sounds so good!

    Suggestion:
    I know this isn't a scientific, but more of an 'in context' demo of each in an EDM rhythm section. You might want to include that in the description or title.
    The trouble is hearing the transients: Having both kick AND bass jacked from the get-go and at once introduces Frequency-Masking, further exacerbated by YT's compression algo.
    Here any clue to each synth's amp and filters first 10-30ms of EG response is "cloaked" by the kickdrum.

      @shaft9000 Před 2 lety +1

      I found it interesting that the Pro One sounded smaller than the others and that the Neutron sounded so big, nearly as girth-y as the D. Usually a Pro One hangs right there with a minimoog and edges it in aggression. An OG Pro One slams the VCA input - not unlike how a guitar amp behaves when a booster pedal is active in-line between the amp input and guitar - resulting in a massive 'bulging' compression and roaring characteristic.

    Thanks, Robert!!! 👍 So much more insight into what these synths _are_ than in most of the review-and-demo video so far. An excellent idea to include the Neutron!
    Me as a complete synth-noob, I'm currently exploring three Behringers, the Neutron, the WASP DELUXE, and the PRO-1. While I was sure I'd love the PRO-1 (loopop's review rocks!), it turned out that I prefer the Neutron by (insert exaggerating comparative term of your preference here). The ‒ IMHO underrated ‒ WASP in turn aims at a totally different audience than the people taken care of by the rest of Behringer's analog synth line. I like its flexible sound capabilities and particularly enjoy the looping option in the EGs. Achieve nice rhythmic elements just by turning the rightmost knob to its Repeat position and fiddling with the Attack and Decay to get a driving pulse in your tunes! Ever tried one yourself? Highly recommended!
    And last but not least, I am happy to let you know I actively assistied you on your way to reach the 4,000 subscriber mark 😊

      Hi Manfred, I’ve not had the pleasure of trying out the WASP. I heard it kind of resembles the ARP Odyssey (one I do own) but I don’t really know. The demos online sound great. These little budget synths by Behringer all sound quite vintage and ballsy to me so no complaints there;-). The looping capability is something I really love on my Subsequent 37 (not really a budget synth :-)) so I understand what you mean. Thanks a lot for your kind and lengthy comment!

    Any plans to get a B 2600? I only have Neutron and DM12, sticking with their unique synths so far -- but the only thing holding me back on any of their clones is that I gotta keep enough room available for their upcoming VCS and Buchla Easel clones ! Those (and maybe) 2600 are dream fuel for me.

Close to pulling the trigger on an empress reverb pedal-second hand it will cost me more than I shelled out for the Pro-1 😅 but has a few amazing studio quality reverbs that just can’t be beat at the price level.
