Does anybody else start to drive the early part of the trail with their little brass tire deflators on? No? Just me? Then 15 min later pull over and double check and make fine tune adjustments if necessary. Least time spent pulled over.

Thank you for this over view. I keep getting a range of deflation pressure on my little brass thingys, thought I was doing something wrong. Good to know!

Thanks for the review. You saved me from learning this the hard way.

I bought the JACO rapid flow tire deflator from your link. I received it yesterday it’s very accurate and high quality.

Hi, Brad. Saw this today as I am getting ready to leave for Europe; Frankfurt and whence on to Greece. Great video comparison. Will definitely get your recommended airing down contraption upon my return to the States in late October. You and family have a great and safe summer. I'll be keeping an eye out for your videos! I look forward to more trail off-roading with y'all.

I like my rapid deflator (ARB). One trick I would pass along is to have the stem twister pulled out while you are unscrewing the deflator. Before I learned that little trick, I had a few valves stems unscrew while I was removing the tool.... good thing I have a good compressor....

Have been needing to get one so just ordered with your link. They are currently $30 and had a 5 percent coupon on it (7-20-21)

I have priced out a DIY 4 way inflate/deflate system for under $100. Takes a couple minutes to air down and all the tires will equalize in the system which is super cool. And with the napa maxitrac compressor I have should air up my 35s from 10psi to 30 in like 4 minutes which is crazy fast. Just for reference

Can the core wear out and stop sealing as well if you do it frequently?

  • @Jelthi

If you want a budget hostile option I have loved my ez-flate. All 4 tires at the same time and it has the bonus of equalizing the pressure.

Budget hostile! Love it. I know there are some pretty sweet systems out there that aren’t very nice on your wallet

Just saw this. I have a Power Wagon and have been using the 4 slower inflators. Sooooooo slowwwwwwww..... As they get close to the dialed pressure they slowly seep air. Yawn!
I have to go from about 55 psi to 22ish so it takes even longer to deflate.
I just bought the Jaco. I figure I will put on the 4 deflators to get a head start then go around with the Jaco to get my exact pressure.

Skip them all. Just use a key, screwdriver, or other metal nub to release the pressure, and then periodically check it with your favorite reliable tire pressure gauge. I have been using this same simple and inexpensive system for over 40 years. I can get all 4 tires deflated from around 35 psi to 20/22 psi in about 12 minutes, without all the hassle of those needless accoutrements.

In 12 minutes I’ve been on the trail for 6 minutes already. A key works fine, but in the world we live in there’s no such thing as patience anymore

I still love my Hurricane. It’s just as fast as the rapid deflator, but its WAAAAAY more expensive. Worth it to save my back though. LOL!

yes it is probably the most amazing deflator I have seen

Best thing I ever did was get rid of the stock garbage wranglers and go with the Falkens. Next best thing was getting an arb deflator.

    Hi mate
I have to say I’m surprised at the amount of time it took for the screw in style deflaters to air down your tyres!
I’ve been using Staun screw ons for 15+years and don’t ever remember spending 14 minutes to air down.
You may need to look at the units you have as I would say they’re defective or sub par quality.

    • @ProdigalOverland
      @ProdigalOverland  Před 3 lety

Thanks for the feedback. I have heard from others that have said the same. It very well could be that they are defective. They are for sure frustrating!

      gerryj4579..
I was also very surprised when he said 14 minutes, or whatever it was. I've used JT Brooks, Staun and Icheck tyre deflators and I'm not fussed on any of them tbh. I started off using the first one he used and I liked it way better. My trouble is I'm a bit disabled and have trouble bending down, so decided to go back to the screw on type. The numbers on the units are useless, and I ended up marking each unit so that it went on the SAME tyre every time and that was the only way i could get consistency. Over here in Australia, we can get the valve remover type for about $30. but the screw on ones are all about $80 or $90
      Cheers from
      Australia.
