Both sick bands which influenced me heaps throughout my twenties... Then I discovered Steve Vai, Gilbert, and the eventually found Ewan Dobson.
That chilled me out and gave me the confidence to leave the UK and play guitar abroad :)

Don't play Pantera with a Metallica guitar
Wym a Metallica guitar? Most of the tone of a guitar is the amp and pickups, both Metallica and Pantera have almost the same gear. The big difference is effects and amp settings.
@@austinrietzel5599 actually not true at all , James hetfield plays esp and Gibson and Kirk hammett plays esp both through marshal tube amps, dimebag darrel formally diamond darrel played deans with active pickups through a solid state Randle amp, so they are two different sounds , you can play any type of music on any guitar but it's not always gonna sound like the original

I love Metallica for the speed and overall sound Hammett's riffs give off and I love Pantera for the sheer energy and power Dimebag's riffs give.

The whole idea is great
BUT
1) "Walk" riff... You need to re-learn it
2) Master Of Puppets need to be played with ONLY downstroke
3) "Battery" riff you need to re-learn too, because the way you played it is absolutely wrong
4) In "Blackened" riff you out of tempo. Really.
5) Tone is really bad. You need to do something with it

You can really hear and appreciate the different styles of both respected bands. Papa Het is the possibly the greatest rhythm riffer ever, but Pans riffs are a different type of expression. More punchy. Most people probably love both of these bands. From this, Hetfield has consistently made the more complex and genre building riffs. Can't fuck with Master of Puppets. That's the end of that

Metallica's riffs are acceptable for all, but to be able to listen to Pantera, you have to be on another level

Metallica is more melodic, Pantera is more dark. Both are best of heavy metal. Two very different music styles although from the same cradle.
But I noticed that the drum styles of Vinnie and Lars are totally different. Vinnie's strokes are lesser but heavier, while Lars' strokes are faster but lighter. That kind of amplifies the melodicity of Metallica and darkness of Pantera. So with Metallica music my head nod movement is faster and teeth grind in ecstasy [e.g. enter sandman]. Amazing. While with Pantera my head moves slower and my mouth goes to frowning position in admiration [e.g. walk]. Equally Amazing.
