This is the fourth episode of our Lexus IS200 Build series. With the BMW E36 getting rare and everything Nissan/Toyota getting really expensive it's left a gap in the market. With lower purchase costs, good chassis and good looks could the Lexus IS200 Fill that gap? Ren has had a crazy idea, and Jeek made him commit to it. The idea is as follows - Step 1 - Find and buy a Lexus IS200. Step 2 - Drift Prepare it so it's ready to jump in and use. Step 3 - Give it away with a free Driftland Bash Weekend Driver ticket!

For every £5 you spend in the shop, we'll give you an entry into the competition which wil be drawn live on 15th July. You get to rock up to Driftland for the Driftland Bash 2019, use the Lexus to your heart's content for a weekend of outrageous missile driving and then take it back with you! Or if you don't want to do the bash and would rather look after the Lexus as your main drifter -that's cool too! whatever you want!
In this Episode Ren finishes off his first welded diff - oils it up with fresh Lucas gear oil, seals the backplate and sticks it back in the car. Then he gets really carried away making a ghetto "drift button" in the IS200 by using an assortment of drills and screwdrivers - chaos ensues but we're left with a working handbrake, sweet! Ren and Stu get the car down to the track and start shredding tyre - Stu has his first shot of the car - it's really good! Check out the footage by jeek in his FPV drone - he is a nuisance and nearly hits both Kenny and this IS200. Total Pest.

Is200 handbrake button you can just unscrew and that will stop the handbrake from locking, then when you want it lock again just screw the button back on

Pull the abs and traction fuses out from the fuse box on the rhs of the engine bay , makes a big difference 👀 ones blue ones green

Clutch wont last long if its stock. You need a good set of coilovers to stiffen the car up, will make it slide a lot easier too :)

Sometimes I wish I wasn't subscribed to the the channel! Just so I could subscribe! It's become probably my favourite channel, I don't bother with most of the notification I get, but when I see it's drift land I make the time to watch it... even at work! ;)

You can use washer on throttlebody throttle cable to connect it with electric one and then they move together, and remove one (i think its called) tps plug behind throttle body. its black plug. you will lose trc and engine management light comes on, also with very cold engine, no middle gear sometimes for a minute, but throttlebody then runs on cable system instead of electric throttlebody. Has more low rpm response and good for drifting with stock engine. :) Worked for me but some people say it depends on model year.

Can't remember where I read it but whilst trying to decide which would suit me better as a daily slider between the E46 n is200, may have been a mod for the E46 though so can't remember or be 100% sure

You could of just undone the button in the handbrake, or buy a 10quid mx5 drift button from driftworks works great, Pull the ABS fuse under the bonnet Green fuse turns off the TRC ABS! 16inch wheels on the back! wasnt going to comment about drilling holes in the boot floor for the diff bolts but it would of been to late as you would of made the video already lol and i wanted to see you work it out! Lighten flywheel helps with keeping the power up!! Good Car the is200 baby JZX!

I know it's late now but I hope you put a nice strong magnetic plug in there. I cleaned mine for hours with air and gas and all kinds of shit with it hanging open end down, then put the magnet plug( big neodymium magnet jb welded to the inside of the plug) in and drove it for a day. It looked like a metal porcupine.
the sump plug was magnetic and looked like that when we drained the oil originally
Just unplug the abs unit plugs and it stop abs, and traction control from working so no need to pull fuses.

You should have installed an auto diff and weld it, it has a shorter gear ratio. 3.9 vs 4.1
don't see it making the change to 3rd even with a 4.1 so a longer 2nd suits it well!
@@DriftlandTV a guy on our team does teeside in a stock IS with third gear with relative ease with an auto diff. Takes a bit of getting used to. He's also done driftland if I remember rightly :)

@@DriftlandTV just commitment man. Everyone always asks him what engine he's got, because they don't understand for a second how a stock IS on 9j 17s is snatching 3rd in the dry let alone keeping up with the turbo boys 🤪
@@DriftlandTV it's not just about the 3rd gear, its also about the medium range in 2nd and the not need of clutch kicking all the time

Brill video I did a subscribe haha. I always loved the is200 I bought one a few years ago for 300 from a vw dealer. Didn’t last long with though, 150bhp and 18mpg made me sad. Rest of it was lovely mind.

@@kurtseyffert6649 It's red with the most paint sanded off to look all beat up. Well they crashed a few times so it is pretty beat up. They thrashed it in the burn yard a few times in the last month or so. Once with T-pain the rapper.
