I have taken quite a few flights recently in the A380. Best landing was a 2.30am arrival from Heathrow into DXB. The pilots nailed it. Every other A380 landing has been quite heavy. I might upload the landing from Sydney to DXB, I was in Business Class, so the view was nice from up higher, but the landing was no different..
me, am a Seychelles citizen, and i find this video very interesting , i also admire the island of Mauritius very much it indeed a very beautiful country,
Very fantastic, landing and take off videos... We should proud our pilot, who manage and control plane in bad weather... Specially while landing and takeoff...
Hard landing ? Doesn't seem unusual to me. I guess it's impossible for a pilot to perform smooth landings every time, but this one doesn't seem too bad. Great to see Emirates take the A380 to paradise, hope to be flying on Megabird there in the future.
A hard or soft landing is something that the pilot choose and depends from weather conditions, rain, low temps, some winds needs a hard landing to help tyres adherence.
Excellent video! Superb image quality and sharpness. The touchdown was perhaps a bit bumpy, that´s true....but we´re talking about the A380 in Mauritius, so landing was not so bad considering the vast size of the aircraft and the relatively short landing strip of that airport.
Landings are smoother early morning and early evening, and all night. You try to hold power almost till the end and even then your ground effect will make you float or even rise, as large as the 380 is you don't have much runway.
Man these emirates A380s are really giving some tough landings I was flying from dubai to paris and my god that bump was really scary..really popped my head off my body
Sarra Smith I watched them too. But as an aircraft mechanic, I'm curious as to why there's three sections and why they move independently of each other.
clangston3 Oh, that's somewhat... Well, maybe... Obvious? The panels move 'counter' to each other to eliminate pilot induced oscillations. I'd imagine it also may reduce stress on the wing spars... In case of an emergency, like with Qantas 32, there's multiple backups. Also, if you need the maximum roll rate, you've got it with 3 aileron panels and spoilerons. I am slightly disappointed that they are not flaperons. Though, that may again put more stress on the wing spars... I actually think that the Qantas 32 incident proved the design ideas of the 380. If that kind of failure had happened on an older design, they wouldn't have had anything on that wing, at the best, and at the worst, no hydraulics at all.
I kind of figured it had to do with gust load or wing flutter alleviation but because of the airframes I've worked on (one being an old swept wing jet that only used spoilers for roll control and the other being a slower straight wing turboprop) I've never worked those systems.
I have flown on the A380 quite a number of times,it always feels like a hard landing so I assume its normal on the A380. I flew on a Boeing 737 recently and it just seemed much smoother on touch down.Lot of weight on the A380.
This made me think, do airlines have any way of keeping tabs on extreme events an aircraft encounters? Such as this hard landing which could put too much stress on parts of the plane?
Awesome views! thank you for sharing. Just a very little comment: quick zoom in and outs as well as changes on the angle of view distracted my attention.
Nicely caught on camera ... But not an overly-hard landing IMHO. Touching down when you are sat over the undercarriage is far more noticeable as there is a total of 20 tyres contacting the ground in a very short space of time. Then there needs to be some form of brake application as the A380 only has two thrust-reversers fitted despite having four engines.
Here is an explanation: the runway in Mauritius is about 3000 m long, this aircraft needs about 2800 m to land. To secure a safe landing, the pilot didn't flare, so he wouldnt lose too much runway space.
I remember the day when it was a very rough weather.......I was flying in a Boeing......and the plane landed like bouncing ball and in a diagonal way....
what was hard in it? i guess touch was bumpy a bit but its pilot who is not that experienced yet. btw jet is withstanding great tensity during bumpy landings so this pilot really makes her operational life to be shorter... a380 is a wonderful bird
Descent rate was too fast. So eventually the plane just was like droping in the ground. The lilots could have added some 5 to 8 knots for smooth landing
quite a firm landing there!!! Imagine the load that the landing gear has to absorb...astonishing

Heavy Turbulence in Airbus
That’s why it has how many, 4 main bogies and the front 22 wheels, distributed properly to take down like what is it 300+ tons not a bother
M_Swizzy22 Imagine 300+ tons weight transferred to the wheels. Absolutely amazing.
1:59 😍😍 flaps sound
Never been a hard landing. When the overhead lockers pop open, then you know youve had a hard landing
Ok so had a hard landing before oh
Anthony Cox v by
Had this happen to me while landing in Rotterdam, even the oxygen masks came down
One of the finest videos of a landing, keep it up. Hoping to see more like this in other aircraft.
+AeroManiac Thanx!
+Eliaz Lindh hello great video! I live in Mauritius and the place you landed is called Plaine Magnien. :)
Love this vid. Felt like I was sitting in the seat actually looking out of the window. Great upload.

I loved your descent through the layer of cumulus clouds!
It's common particular A380 or Airbuses do...They really touch down! Awesome landing by the way!
me, am a Seychelles citizen, and i find this video very interesting , i also admire the island of Mauritius very much it indeed a very beautiful country,
Was there 4 weeks ago..landed in very heavy rain,....nice place...would love to go back.....Greetings from Ireland
beautiful view, and yes, a bit of a hard landing :)
Mauritius is the best place I will probably ever go
Come bro you're welcome here 👊 😎
Very nice video, great quality and sound.
Being the Flying Fanatic I am, I just saw 10 Mins off the Most Beautiful footage of Mauritius from outside the Aircraft :-) LOL
When the A380 went like 💥, I felt that.
THAT WAS SO A GOOD LANDING!
Very fantastic, landing and take off videos...

Heavy Turbulence in Airbus
i disagree , i cant tell you it was a hard landing , just with the vibration of the camera and obviously the slope of the aircraft is not good at all

Hard landing but it was a great video vlog 👍👍

Awesome view from the air and landing!
Omg no lie i always see ur comment like in every topic of planes
Beautiful landing in a beautiful country
That place looks beautiful.

Better u travel by indian airline buddy
Great video great quality
Very Beautiful !
Best airline Great landing video must b the title.
landing was definitely on the "firm" side of things but by no means a bad landing, what i really admire is that aileron action though.
Ah damn. Miss mauritius so much and the food is umm! Cant wait to go back
Great video, Eliaz! Liked ;-)
The way the ailerons moved was... Hypnotic. I keep watching over and over just for that...
Sarra Smith I watched them too. But as an aircraft mechanic, I'm curious as to why there's three sections and why they move independently of each other.

yes you are absolutely right
It looks really cool
That runway must be JUST long enough to accommodate this spectacular bird! Hardly a rough landing though...
Lol you call this hard landing 😂😂😂 try flying with Ryanair 😫😫
SHOAIBAFG4LIFE every time I swear 😂😂
Great landing ❤❤
What a beautiful island.
My country....proud to be a Mauritian..welcome everyone
Do you own the county
Maliik Dinoo hey, that's not nice :(

What a beautiful wing, made in England or possibly Wales.... hopefully there is another one on the other side.
NICE PLACE FOR LANDIND I LIKE EK FILGHT .ITS # 1
Im landing there soon :) cant wait for the very hard landing

beautiful video like you
The beginning is so peaceful, what camera did you use?
Ailerons did the wave at 9:10.
Chaud l'atterissage à Maurice :-)

Brilliant, thanks
All those landing for the first time would see this a hard landing when actually there are much worse landings
MAURITIUS IS a very beautiful city in the world
This is good landing .. What were you expecting
Going this august, love mauritius x
and i love you
amazing.
Nice landing
Mauritius my island... proud to be a mauritian
I don't know it looked like a smooth landing to me. It's a beautiful country ware ever it is.
@Ibrahim Bashir a big island lmao
nice!!!!! what camera did you use ?
Did I hear plates or trays falling when the plane touched down? Lol
Hard landing but pretty good approach i must say
Have you ever flown an a380? The landing was very good for the biggest plane in the world. Go and watch Ryanair's landings and then come back here.
Mr. Deian first of all don’t get all pilot on me, i stated my OPINION and you got like so aggressive! dear lord
Did they even flare! Wow, that was hard!
That's when you need holy shit handles like yer car has lol
like Mauritius to visit again
The runway is actually over 3km long so not tiny. Perhaps wind conditions or not enough nose back made it hard landing.
Best airline among the better airlines
NIEC landing
Where was the HEAVY landing? I missed it!
+Don Mason
I think he meant heavy clouds!!
his first plane ride, hehehe
stupid - you got to feel it. You can't see it
Stan Sonnega 0000
It's a big plane so It'll be heavy to land
Is that the landing gear going dwn at 01:58 ?? -- The shrill sound continues upto 02:26--
nice vedio
Thank you.

I think that's just what normally happened when 500000 lbs hits the ground
Quel bel oiseau, notre A380, je suis encore tout triste de sa disparition programmée
very nice...........inbound from DXB?
Flight Date?
same thing happened to me on april 2nd Emirates A380-800 !
How long was the flight?
That landing tho (it hurt)
Looks like a pretty decent landing😂
that didnt look hard but that was amazing!!
Necesitaba mayor ángulo para aterrizar.
It needed more angle to landing.
nice video keep the good work, what camera did u use?
Sony Xperia Z5
super
The runway is only 3000m long. As a result the landings are hard and brake abruptly.
Descent rate was too fast. So eventually the plane just was like droping in the ground. The lilots could have added some 5 to 8 knots for smooth landing
The sound of the wheels touching down, is very similar to a fart !
Ha, you made my day
Actually, its the one who uploaded the video who farted so loud to make you think it was a hard landing

The A380 is so quiet, except when it touches down
Nice
After a long flight the pilots can be very tired and have trouble greasing it on... Those planes are extremely heavy.
hahaha ....... "hard landing"
The touch down was ok i.e. NO PROBLEM / STANDARD.
Yes , another slam for the big Keiko , they like to slam them down.
Perhaps they are trying to destroy them
I know an Elias Karsslon from Iceland
nice
I been here when I was 12 yrs old and it's amazing, they speak French and English
WOW HUGE BIRD LANDS.....
Going there in 2 months is it bumpy
! mauritius is very beautiful island
So the aileron of A380 can be switch to function as spoiler on touchdown?
Yup
No... its for crosswind landings. Ailerons into the wind to keep the aircraft from drifting
I didn't know Ryanair had A-380s
