- Tsakhia Elbegdorj was President of Mongolia from 2009 to 2017. He played a critical role in his country's transition from Communism to democracy, and explains why Mongolia was one of the few countries in Central Asia to do so successfully.
I loved to learn about the current state of Mongolia. Thank you!
President Elbergdorj commented that democracy must deliver services for the people; Askoka Mody's book, India is Broken, examines this issue in depth and provides data which shows India lags behind many Asian nations (South Korea, Japan, the PRC, Singapore). Perhaps we should add Mongolia to Mody's list . Western soft support for Mongolia's development should include scholarships to Western universities and exchange programs.
Thank you for tweeting this out, Prof. Fukuyama!
Mongolia first put their hope with Soviet, then now on USA. But unfortunately neither both will bring progress to Mongolia.
Obviously much more processing factories and independence from exports will be hard to succeed for 4 mln country, according to Paul Krugman theory of scale effect. But I wish Mongolians it’ll become achievable.
thank you. Long Live Democratic Mongolia
Hola soy de Mongolia
badass president ever. Who talks, nothing to do.
The guy is a deeply corrupt and involved in all sorts of money laundering. I’m disgusted how he talks as if he has a moral high ground. F that guy.
He is an top Mongolian actor and a thief who is not a democrat. Frankly Fukuyama Japanese politicians are gods beside them.
The whole liberal ideology is rotten to its core
