I found drilling 2 holes at the very top so you can stick a screwdriver through makes turning it much easier.

I may have stripped the piece you remove with the puller. Any suggestions on how else to get it out?
Do you mean the side cartridge retainers? I’ve seen some people use needle nose pliers and spread them wide inside and slowly turn it out.
