- Alright, I'll admit that watching this back while editing it...I can definitely see some room for improvement! But, as a one off episode it's still not the worst I've seen!

They hate it so much because Nickelodeon played this soo much
It's the worst episode, for sure, but that doesn't mean it's "bad". It just had no bearing on the main plot, and because of that, nickelodeon used to rerun it all the time
_the great divide_ is a decent episode, if you only have to watch it once and can move immediately to the next one. a lot of people who watched _avatar: the last airbender_ during its initial airing got fed up with this one because nickelodeon loved to re-run this one. if you had been waiting a week, and you tuned in only to see this episode, again... it would get annoying.
People generally dislike it for a few different reasons. One, it was such a one-off episode that it was rerun a lot on Nickelodeon so people just got sick of it. Two, because people think it’s out of character for Aang to lie (I don’t agree with this. Aang lies on other occasions too. He’s a good person but not a perfect person.) Then some people just think it’s boring.
I personally don’t think it’s bad. It’s just not as good as some other episodes.

No judgement Just genuinely curious is it actually or was that sarcasm lol? I my self don’t like this episode too much other than the cool art styles for the flashbacks so Im curious why it’s your favorite?
@@damnimloomin I was being sarcastic, this is by far the worst episode of the series, I really like the art style changes but other than that the episode is abysmal in comparison to the other episodes

Avatar does a really good job of balancing heavy episodes with more lighthearted ones. Less so in Season 2, but seeing as it is a kids show (or is it?) it feels right to me that not every episode is so heavy. As a child it is easier to keep track of a show that comes out once a week if it doesn't have too many complicated storylines, but even as an adult, watching shows like GoT, I find myself wishing for eps like the Great Divide, where the characters get a bit of break from the big stuff and get to worry over tarps being placed right, or chilling in a town for a few days
1:00 Calvin is straight wrong. It was not an occupied Earth Kingdom village, but a Fire Nation colony town with no Earth Kingdom citizens whatsoever
To be honest, I love this episode, it isnt my favorite by any means, buts its not my least favorite. I like how it sort of shows some more negative sides to our main characters like aang and Katara/Sokka for the first time, It makes them feel more fleshed out and real. A lot of people dont like the fact that Aang lied at the end, which I can totally see why, but I think it was needed to show that Aang actually has that side in him that he is willing to use if absolutely necessary.
I’m curious, which is your least favorite?
@@Ragnar_Aevarsson hard to say, probably Avatar Day, I dont hate it by any means, but its an easy skip on rewatch. Only good thing about it is the prisoners and aang, and the kyoshi stuff

This is for sure my least favorite episode of the series, but I don’t think it’s a bad episode, I just like the others more. I think it definitely gets more hate than it deserves
This is definitely not my least favorite episode. I actually enjoyed it while watching it, although I sort of binged watched the show with my siblings, so I didn't watch it when it aired. I'm not entirely sure which episode might be my least favorite, but there are a few I would put below this one.

Well, everybody has to watch this one once.
A lot of the hate for this episode I think is maybe compounded by the fact that *because* so many other eps were plot-centric, this was one of only a handful of episodes deemed suitable for replay between new releases. For the first season, it was basically the ONLY episode as such. I remember, because I lived this. You'd turn on Nick in the afternoon and if it wasn't a prime time slot or a new episode it was literally the Great Divide played twice in a row for the rest of the week. This is not even counting the mess that Nick made of season 3. Although the story is sort of mediocre, there are good things about it, but it sure doesn't feel that way when you're bored after school and it's the 100th time you've seen it.

Aang lying to solve problems. That's what we should teach children. Stop arguing about old stuff just make a unified lie instead kids. Message of episode 11.
