I was the one who got another woman’s ring. After learning that, I ended the engagement.
He sounds like a monster with zero integrity. He lied to and cheated on his girlfriend, carried out a whole other relationship while stringing along Sky and didn’t even have the decency to break up with her face to face. Sickening

He's right. She has no legal claim to ask for the 20k. Plus Since he never discussed proposing with Sky, she cant even sue him for breaking his promise to her. I honestly thought the plot twist was going to be that Robin absconded with the money or that she seduced David and got him to propose to her instead😂

My husband and I got married when we were students. We chose the rings together...my engagement ring was simple and was placed on my finger only a week before the wedding...and I loved it! 17 years later, we have built our life together and could afford a ring 10 times as expensive. My husband has offered to replace it...but I still love it and it reminds me of back then. A new ring would not have that history.
For our 10th anniversary, he gifted me a beautiful eternity ring, which I also love, but my engagement ring could never be replaced...
She didn’t lose the love of her life. A man who would do something like that could never be the love of her life. He did her a favor by leaving her. The only thing she lost was her money.

@wakandavibranium5053 I don't think she was wrong but at the same time it was a big mistake. Plenty of men ask the girl to choose thier ring or ask one of the friends to come with them to choose the ring. But if she had her heart set on one then she should have been dropping hints to him that she wanted that one or have her friend tell him. Hey I know what she wants and this isn't going to be enough. Maybe if he then would tell the friend, I don't care, pick a cheaper one, sky would have realized this man is not the one. Or she might have done the same thing. Honestly though. I would have confronted the dude before hand. If you buy the ring and he hasn't proposed within the month then o don't know what he is doing and I would straight up just ask. If we are going to break up because of this fine, but I'm getting my money back.
I feel it's the same way with wedding dates. If a man proposes and doesn't have a date in mind or is ready to set one (even if it is a year or two away) then something isn't right imo.

I would’ve sued. The jeweler would have had to show documentation for the true cost of the ring. Otherwise, he could’ve gotten into a lot of trouble with the IRS for tax evasion. I work with high risk clients (including jewelers) in the banking industry. There are serious money laundering concerns with these types of businesses and the last thing they want is the IRS or Feds knocking on their door. I would’ve gotten my girls money back and told her to never ever do that sh*t again!

My thoughts exactly. For tax purposes the jeweler had to report the correct sale price. And his insurance should also indicate the true value of the ring. $20,00 loss, I don't think so.
@dky_1353 but the fake receipt doesn't matter because as long as the jewelry store has proof of sale and purchase. Same with not getting a hold of the other woman. She doesn't need the ring necessarily just the certificate it came with upon purchase with the serial number. All that said, she has to be willing to sue and go back for proof of purchase, and risk not getting her money back. I've watched enough judge Judy to learn that purchases made together are sometimes just losses. The options would be that he is ordered to pay her the 20,000 pounds and he keeps the ring or he has to sell the ring and give her the money she put into it or possibly sell it and then they split what they get for it and take any losses out of both thier pockets.
Now if he is vindictive and destroyed any certificate or identification that's a different story.
If he doesn't believe her she can sue and he can bring in what he was given and then it's up to the lawyers and court to verify. But if it all lines up she has a better chance at getting her money back then just letting it go.
Whoa, I never would have guessed that would have happened. If David hadn't been such a jerk, they could have checked the price at the jewelry store, and some of these women who wanted to flaunt their rings might have learned their lesson. Waiting to see what he handed her was the right thing to do. Since I would have preferred for my friend to be surprised by the proposal, I honestly would not have told her.

I still have the same modest ring set my husband got me in 2005 when it was the best he could afford. I treasure it because it is the symbol of his commitment to me and both have stood the test of time..

1. This topic is so on point as I am hearing more about women paying for their own bride price, their own wedding, rings lately. These women claim to be « feminine, traditional » as they scream everywhere but yet when it comes to traditions they are masculine as some tasks as far as the tradition is involved, are taken care of by the family of the husband/fiancé. The bride price and traditional wedding are the real wedding if we have to be spiritual as the rites, us and dos Connect the ancestors, families and so on and so forth. So I will never understand how a normal woman, raised well on the so called « traditions » will play the « I prefer this » without the husband consent or even with his consent. We really need to learn to have patience. Just today I saw a video of a couple who got married at their home and preferred to invest in their marriage. The number of comments of women against that was baffling me. O won’t be surprised if most of them will go out there and take charge of the bride price with all of the red flags just to appear married and married for internet to rate their celebration, the clothes, The this and that, which do not mean anything. If your fiancé is able to afford something less, and he treats you well, you have the same vision and you are building together, let him take the responsability of the traditional things as it is stipulated, and then you will be able to invest in your marriage if you feel like helping him. As auntie Fumi said, you can upgrade your ring after 2, 3, or 5 years. But guess What? The bride price represents a symbolic value that the fiancé pays to « compensate » the emptiness that taking that future bride out of the family represents. So I don’t see myself paying for that. It just makes no sense. Either that man (family included) is ready, or he is not.
2. That man is not right, and will not find peace in that second relationship despite the girl being wrong also. He had to finish the first relationship, before getting into another one. For not doing só, despite that lady being wrong, he had to give her the money or leave her that ring, it is called being gentleman, educated/classy. But I might me dreaming as these males have no clue of what it means in 2023.

Yes, each one has a role to play, but what is the wife paying in exchange for the bride price? She ends up being considered a belonging of the husband and his family which is paramount to slavery.

After listening to part 1 and 2, I will say that David should have picked the ring by himself or get her ring size through Robin. As far as Robin, she shouldn’t have shared to Sky that David was going to propose to her. It should have remained a secret between them. Sky is also at fault because she should have waited until she was proposed to and requested a different ring if the ring was an issue for her. She should have paid attention to the red flags in their relationship etc… this was a mess to say the least. They are all at fault in my books.

Fumi, Fumi…. This was a wild ride! My 1st thought of part 1 was that he distance himself during their “problems” because he probably thought she was cheating by her angry, odd behavior and thought he should just end it, sell the ring, & move on. Part 2, had me saying ‘What?! No. He didn’t end it?!’. I wasn’t surprised she confronted him, but I was when she expected him to give her the ring or £20,000.

I enjoyed part 2 of storytime. Hopefully, Sky learned her lesson, so in the future, she can have a successful, honest relationship.
The best friend should have kept her mouth shut!! It was a suprise the engagement, I understand loyalty and all but Robin should have seen it as beautiful suprise for her friend and kept it as that and help find the ring within the budget with David. When things went sideways with David and Sky, at least it would have been the hurt of the relationship that sky was healing from and not her bank account also😅 Robin could have told Sky at a later stage about the engagement...Too much excitement on something that wasn't even yet a definite and now all this hurt myword!!!! Thank you fumi for the story time keep them coming❤

I would never add a dime to get the present/ring of my dreams. If my boyfriend/hubby/fiancè wants to buy me anything, he does it 100%. That way it is a true gift and not a half an half thing. But i guess that is just me. As for the story itself...people meet the one they feel is The One sometimes after being engaged or married. It's nothing new. We should always stay awake i say and women should also decline a proposal if you are not sure he's it. I feel women love tk say yes just for the sake of it. Nice story. Merci🎉
