D L Lie I have been listening to 95.9 DL Hughley show for years and he has always said some crap about Moniq her husband and children. When he would joke about her we could tell there was an issue with her because it sounded personal. What he said sounds familiar because he said it before. He even said something on Vlad TV. Why would Monique need a lawyer if he so willing wanted to take the video down. Why would the next step would have been cease and desist? He also for years sounded as if he had a personal issue with Monique having a husband beside her and calling him daddy. If he were not hostile to her, why would the end of telephone call result in consulting solicitors?

He had every right to be upset because he’s entitled to his feelings but he should have given a better response. No one would have known about his daughter until he revealed her trauma on air. Comedy is scary and I speak from experience, usually the ppl who make other ppl laugh need someone to make them laugh in return . Most comedians have either depression, some kind of mental issue or a mix of both. And for the most part the core of the issue is from work and thier homes. These ppl gave joy to others and they do press the extra button while doing it, so when they go home they got no energy to smile or have a decent conversation. Basicly, as long as they are working they have no life other than work. So if they don't have a supportive understanding family and friends to breath joy into them once more. They will no longer bring joy and laughter to others cause they simply barely have any left for themselves. It's a tough job, so to think that even having a good work environment or contracts is difficult?! May God have Mercy.

Uh oh, by Monique's own admission, she says in this response to DL that all she said to DL's daughter is that she knows how it feels to be touched by someone and your dad knows about it and does nothing. I understand why DL is outraged and saying that she said his daughter was raped in front of him. She may not have used those exact words , but thats exactly what her words implied. So that makes me question a couple of things I heard in that interview.
DL did not believe his daughter! His daughter came to him and told him what happened. DL said his own daughter was a liar! DL cheated on his wife of many years and had a baby outside of their marriage and was relieved that the baby had passed! That is ALL I need to know about his character! That is IT! That is ALL!
You missing the entire point. If DL never really rock out with Mo. And Mo didn't say that she heard a rumor about his daughter. How would she even know DL's daughter was SA? DL put that out in the ether. You make personal business, public on air. Any public comment is warranted. It doesn't matter if DL, and his daughter have come to terms with it. HE put it out there, and his affair too. You think nobody is going to respond to that? You think that putting his daughter out there like that, another man might not attack her as an adult? Do you know how much shame his daughter might have, because everyone in DL's circle, her peers knows this fact. However he decided to handle that, from assault to acceptance of the abuser. He should of NEVER discuss that in public. So yeah, Mo who has been very vocal about SA by her brother, and her family knew and did nothing. That is quite literally the reason she won an Oscar for Precious, she literally was playing her mother complicit allowance of letting her, son rape Mo. Black folks can be so dense, and allow the disrespect of Black women to continue. Why do think Oprah chose, and did excellent job on Beloved, and Color Purple? Because Oprah was SA by a family member in real life. I swear some of y'all are sickening. You have no clues, no discernment, and no compassion. Irrespective that he put his daughter's situation out in the public eye, Monique DID INDEED say that he allowed his daughter to be sexually assaulted without his intervention. So he is not lying. This isn't a moral judgement of him and his actions. It is an assessment of whether or not Monique is the caring, empathic, sensitive , not messy person she is portraying herself as. Clearly not.. she gives as good as she gets, because whatever DL's action or omission was in his daughter's sexual assaults, the fact is Monique found herself passing judgement on him. That, folks, is all I was pointing out. Whether it can be said to be true or untrue, just or unjust, whatever you name it... Is irrelevant when I am saying she admitted that she said it. Period. Case closed!

I appreciate Monique being so honest I’ve always loved her. Yes has just gotten a little old after a while for sure, but I understand what she’s doing and she’s doing it for us as black folks. No one else is speaking out to the depth like Monique is doing even if you don’t agree, you have to appreciate her tenacity and protecting us and that’s what it comes down to even if you don’t like her or the message that she’s trying to deliver. Her intention is positive we need to wake up, we really really do like our husband said in that video we’re a Black people in the entertainment industry I mean I’m not in the entertainment industry, but we are all Black people in this world together collectively

What I have always understood, as I had a girlfriend who went there from Atlanta, is that Hollywood will eat you up if you are not aware of who you are. She was never the same....
I always wanted to go to Hollywood and be an entertainer. However, I am turning 56 now, and only now can I go and try my luck knowing what I will stand for and what I will not. I was born in London England.
I have grown up in Atlanta Ga, and have lived in Jamaica. Only now could I take on Hollywood at this age. When Monique stated that if your hand picked you lose credibility if you then jump via auditioning for the same role. I now get it!!!

Like Monique said in her interview with Shannon Sharp she says we were bred to hate on one another. She used different words, but same meaning and she’s right on every level. That’s why it’s so easy for us to tear each other down and not support one another and that’s the problem and that’s the message that they’re trying to get out but people aren’t getting it, but they will eventually because she’s right this will continue. We cannot allow other people to dictate how we should live our lives, and we are all worthy of fairness
People aren’t listening for 2 or maybe 3 reasons.
1. They identify and it strikes a nerve.
2. They think if they ignore it, it will disappear.
3. Some people don’t squeal until they get hit. Then it’s a problem.
Honestly our issues or born of our histories but the reason why they continue are us.
@@Artemis-True but you can’t just ignore it and then complain about it and be upset about it. You have to make a plan whatever that may be for you to deal with your trauma and I think as a collective as a community some of us do that and some of us don’t, you know I wish all of us really would understand the benefit of healing. It doesn’t have to be so hard.
