  • Located at 7001 Mumford Road, in West End Halifax, NS. HSC is the busiest mall in the province. It opened in September 1962. Eaton's, Lawtons, and Fairlanes bowling alley were some an original anchors. After Eaton's went out of business in the early 2000s, and Sears would take over the main anchor space. The Sears store closed in January of 2018. The bowling alley space was converted into the now "Terrace" food court, which opened in May of 2016. As part of a compete renovation of the mall. The food court was located on the top level, where the elevator is now. Before moving across the street, by the old West End Mall, Sobeys was inside the mall. Where SportChek is now. The outside entrance of the Atmosphere part of the store, served as the parcel pick-up! Lawtons remains but in a newer, bigger space. Other current major stores include, H&M, Zara, Apple, and Sephora. There is a Royal Bank branch located in the lower level of the mall. The "Mumford Professional Centre", part of the annex (not shown in the video, it's on the other side of Winners), used to be the West End Mall! The Wal-Mart opened in the early 2000s. And despite it's small crowded size, was converted into a supercentre few years back. Across from the mall is Halifax Transit's Mumford Terminal! With service to downtown the North, and South Ends respectively, Clayton Park & Fairview, Spryfield, Armdale, Purcell's Cove, and Dartmouth. Routes 1, 28, and 29 service East Perimeter Road, providing closer access the mall.

The most recent time I was at the HSC was 2018...1983 was the very first time I visited this big mall!

Wow! Unrecognizable from when I shopped there in the 1970s and 1980s. It’s grown to three floors and annexed the old Simpson’s Sears building area across the street. From what I can vaguely remember, it looks like the food court lane runs along the original stretch, but I could be wrong. Nice video.
