    But why would you use this as a "push-bar"? it is quite long and thin and can take more load when in tension.

    I mean, if you start with two good posts then connect those posts to each other either at the bottom (trench+ground contact post) or the top, your gate will probably never sag to begin with.
    This thing seems to assume you're installing a crappy gate, *I wouldn't do that either.* A board installed diagonally would make it far more sturdy to begin with.
    This is like one of those measure twice, cut once situations. You can foresee things that will happen down the road and prevent them up front.
    I'd much rather buy one good fence than two bad ones, but that's just me. I don't want to sell a massive project to the next person that buys my house, if I should ever choose to sell it... That's not me.
    I mean, you can build a far more structurally sound fence without getting fancy too. Just tie everything together real good. This take only the slightest modification to industry standard practices & doesn't really add a whole lot of labor either.
