  • On this episode we talk about a fantastic Ferrari 275 GTB/4 that we've just purchased, a car that Tom has pursued for over 10 years!
It's a very special car, Ex Eric Clapton and the only example delivered new in Verde Pino.
Apologies in advance for Tom's enthusiasm, a Ferrari 275 is a car we're very fond of here and you'll see his excitement talking about a car that he's been trying to buy for so long!
Click on www.tomhartley... to get a feel for other cars we currently have in stock. Although we always have many cars that we don't publicly market for sale!

The first time I sat in one I was seventeen years old it was 1976. I remember opening the door as though it were a jewelry box. The door closed the same way with the distinctive little click of perfection.
I remember the smell of the interior. The smell of leather, and there was a slight little smell of petrol, and a little scent of jute.
I remember holding the steering wheel with my left hand and placing my right hand on the shifter. Looking over the gauges and imagining what it would be like to drive. Next to it was parked a 1972 365. I tried it on. The styling and the interior of the 275 was more appealing. I was givin my choice between the two cars by my wealthy girlfriend. She said "I'd like to buy you a car for your birthday." There was something in the way that she said it that made me say you "no thank you." Maybe it was the idea that I make a lousy house pet. There was something else. I wanted what the Ferrari stands for as a man.
I don't think that's something somebody can give you. I wanted to achieve it on my own. I worked on Ferraris. I still dream of having one of my own. I still believe that the car represents a symbol of one's personal commitment to excellence. A Ferrari is more than a car. I want what a Ferrari represents. The young man's dreams, don't let someone take that from you. That's what makes a Ferrari so valuable. Someday..

George Harrison and Eric Clapton were very close. This concerned cars, guitars, women, and chocolate. That might be George Harrison's old car. Ask Eric Clapton. Eric has seven Roy Brizio street rods. Jeff Beck has three Brizio street rods. Clapton is a real car boy, and he likes to play foosball. Call David Catalini at Brizio street rods in South San Francisco. Ask him to ask Eric Clapton if that Ferrari is the same Ferrari that George Harrison had. David has had repeated conversations with Eric Clapton concerning the cars that Roy brizio built for Eric Clapton..David would probably feel comfortable calling Eric Clapton up and talking to him. I think I've heard this story before. You might want to check it out. That would make that car a serious part of rock memorabilia. Good luck.

What a fantastic colour to start with Verde Pinot (green). It may have been changed because green is typically associated with bad luck. And maybe one of the previous owners was a little superstitious. But overall what an absolutely fantastic car with great provenance.👌👍

Were the resprays on it total (or the engine bay, striped doors etc) or just the body and door shuts?
Let's assume to return it to its original colour will require a full strip and rebuild Inc,engine and trans out.
It is surely worth the circa £300'000 to do this,if not to add £300'000 to the asking price, but to give it back it's USP and ensure a good sale and useful contacts and possible new clients

    • @philcopson3900
      @philcopson3900 Před 3 lety

If this would-be hustler "bryan" knew half as much as he pretends, he would know that (A) it can't possibly cost £300,000 to repaint any car, and (B) you don't need to pull the engine to do a colour change, as Ferrari engine-bays are satin black and not body colour.....
This is what makes it so simple to do and why so many have colour changes throughout their life.

Cute but slow, low pace : on roads with curves you're like with a cooper S. You're under a 70's Ford Escort RS 1600... On straights you're better.

Well - perhaps you could describe the interior as "noo" - alternatively, you could learn to speak basic English and describe it as "new" ? This vid is just some merchant hustling his wares and hoping to make a few tens of thousands by blathering on about it - never even drives it....
Similarly - don't bother watching the one with JayKay and some jack-the-lad wannabe money-grubber out in his 275 GTB together - first question is "How much is it worth ?", second question is "How much did you pay for it ?" - zip about the car.
To see a 275 GTB owned by somebody who actually loves the thing, has owned it for decades, drives it instead of posing with it, and thoroughly deserves his good fortune - take a look at "Ferrari 275 GTB Skip Barber" instead.
