    I cannot fathom saying this.......but damn I miss Guardians, and other Shieka tech in TOTK. That being said.....the amount of just absolute exploration of more, more, and did I say more.....!
    So there is a thing giving TOTK an edge. But they are two completely different games, that are both stellar.

      I understand but Tears _is_ the Official sequel, so that 'blow' is much lightened. In fact, TOTK gave me the opposite effect. Wheras Breath just felt empty and annoying with it's feeble references (a lot carved into random collapsed stone murals since the game is post-apocalyptic), TOTK felt alive and full of rich references that struck me. And from so many beautiful scenes and vistas, I'm constantly reminded of iconic games like ALTTP.

      @@amphibian2982 I want to agree but Breath literally had _so_ much less than Tears, it's not even funny! It more appealed to the Casual gamers, that's why it took off over the C0vid period. It had barely any real Zelda based action, no Dungeons etc, it was a very fuss free empty space where Link could simply flew the Switch hardware and test an Open world, like a demo. It catered so well to the non-Zelda fan who did not care much about Sages, Temples etc.

    Tears stands on the shoulders of Breath, but that lets it soar to the heights I always wanted Breath to reach. Sometimes in Breath it felt like I was just shrine hopping; in tears, shrines aren't so centralizing. There are so many good side quests, collectables, and just things to explore that aren't tied to Shrines at all. It's the most densely packed open world game I've ever plaued

    The fuse ability is one of my favorite additions because just like you said, we now have a reason to kill enemies, in botw we could use the monster parts for elixirs... but I dont Think i ever made or needed to make an elixir in botw besides that elixir for the volcano that was part of the main quest. In TOTK we are compelled to kill enemies to get monster parts so we can make stronger weapons, I think that's so cool, and it gives the game an amazing aspect of creativity and strategy.
    For example, there is this tower that you can get to by simply flying to it and skipping the enemies, but still I decided to kill the enemies because I needed their parts.
    I'm so happy that I am no longer accumulating 400 keese eyeballs that do nothing in my inventory.

    • @AltairEgo1
      @AltairEgo1 Před 10 měsíci +1

      Well, you did have to kill some enemies to open chests and collect loot, and to sell their parts for money. I think BOTW's incentive for the player was decent enough.
      That and, after a certain point the monster parts become commonplace, and the power they bring to fused weapons has diminishing returns, given an average lizal horn for example is absolutely useless next to a stallnox horn later on in the game.
      I mean, realistically, how many blue moblin horns have you used outside the first few hours.

      @@AltairEgo1 i wrote that comment when I was just beginning to play, now I have almost 100 hours of gameplay and I agree. It still suffers from the same problem as botw but to a far far lesser extent. I never fuse weapons with green lizalfos stuff or blue bokoblin stuff, they are just accumulating there, i dont even use them for arrows, bombs are an absolute killer especially if you have a lynel ×5 bow.

    oh it’s not even close… botw was simply amazing … nothing will ever change that feeling of watching its trailer for the first time, waking up in the shrine of resurrection and walking out into this new world…. but totk blows breath out of the water… i don’t want to make this comment too long but … it was worth the delays… everything about this game is just
    mind blowing… i remember jumping into a chasm thinking it would be instant death and realized i was still falling so i pulled out my glider and realized there was an ENTIRE UNDERGROUND MAP AS BIG AS THE ONE ABOVE. let that sink in… we got a map almost identical to the one before but with changes that are worth exploring… then there’s just new map. it’s fucking insane . like how? how did they keep this so quiet? its crazy and then you take into account the zonai abilities fuse and ultrahand make for some insane original ideas … it just blows my mind that they did it . i didn’t expect not to love it…. but i also didn’t expect for me to really really love it… like it’s probably at my 3nd favorite … it’s so much better than breath … and breath is literally perfect… so take it as you will

      TotK mainline story would be way better than BotW story if it wasn't because of the champions. In Breath of the Wild Zelda is a kind of a shallow character and her development is that of a children's cartoon character. The champions, in the other hand have their own personallity (except the american localization killed it). But overall I would give a drawn beacuse although the side charachters of the mainline story in BotW are really good, TotK has more interesting side quests and an actual antagonist.

      @Jose Santos Yeah look they are almost completely different games botw and totk in comparison to past titles. Totk feels more Zelda like though so I believe it's better than botw. I think the next game should be about half the size map of what botw was but make it dense. The game will still feel huge and have even more to do than what totk does in that massive map. Content over size wins any day. Totk is good but still can feel too empty at times, I get that it's open world so it needs some empty space and repetitiveness to fill the map but that's why i think Zelda maps shouldn't be too big in the first place, the smaller maps suit the franchise so much more that's why games like OOT, MM, TP are unmatched imo. Will still feel "open" because the map will be much bigger than games like OOT etc but feel more alive, never seeing the same thing twice in the game (like past titles) would make for the perfect Zelda game. The 2D Zelda games are awesome too ofcourse.

    BOTW is better and it’s not even close. The impact it’s made on the gaming community, and open-world games more specifically is massive. TOTK refined some stuff, but honestly, the curiosity of “what’s that?” is completely gone. The story is probably the worst in the series, including BOTW, and the temples are just as bad as BOTWs.
    I have no motivation to upgrade, explore, or complete the story in any way. The Depths is all one big biome. The Sky has less in it than in Skyward Sword, and the overworld itself has already been a explored. The lack of explanation for the missing Sheikah tech is unforgivable imo, and no it’s not all in the towers. Hundreds of Guardians, Hundreds of Shrines, and 5 whole ass divine beasts just gone???
    And the Mastersword is back to dogshit, again. When we had the opportunity to up the damage or increase the durability.

    People will say that TOTK is better, cause of the hype, but generally BOTW is a lot better.
    The mechanics are more simple and used in a lot more meaningful ways, the exploration is better since everything is on just one map, so you always feel like you in the right place.
    TOTK feels complicated, the sages are jenky to use, they don't feel powerful, the building mechanics is fun, but also is very slow, always stoping you progress just so you buid something, mechanics like the recal ans ascent I was always forgetting I had, since the world just don't offer a lot of opportunities for you to used. The exploration is good, but not great, since everything you find is basically another version of Breath of the wild, in breath of the wild everything was new, in totk, not even half of he things are new, same enemies and even the new enemies gets old really fast.
    Anyway, Breath of the wild is almost a perfect game, every mechanic feels useful, the wold always feels new, you have more reasons to explore, it's just better.

      Also the mini bosses are more easy, since you already know how to fight them, or you gonna lie to me and say you died for a lynel in totk?
      BOTW you so get Overpowered at the end, but I think that's very rewarding since in the beginning, the game can be very challenging. TOTK improved in a lot of things, but difficulty was not one of them.

      I never see anyone mention how much more difficult TotK is than BotW. I found myself dying far more often in TotK, mostly because they don't give you the best armor set in the game within the first hour of leaving the Great Plateau for dirt cheap. I know you can decide not to use it but 95% of players will on their first playthrough and it completely trivializes the difficulty after an upgrade or two.

  • @elvisdoit
    @elvisdoit Před 8 měsíci +1

    Well seeing how the comments are I do agree that BOTW has more of the lone-wolf vibes and it felt more "refreshing" but thats because most of us played it first. You were the "Hero of the Wild" (no pun intended) exploring the wild meanwhile most people didn't know who you are. While in TOTK you are already known as the hero. In my experience for life-of-quality, battle mechanics, and many ways how you can approach in Hyrule CLEARLY TOTK is better than BOTW. Its true that BOTW does give more nostalgia if you played it first but whether that means anything to you it varies to each individual. In TOTK there were some nostalgia references in the music like the colergea boss fight and when link is humming meanwhile he cooks food. No one talks about this but the "nostalgia vibes" you can still revisit those "moments" in TOTK because its literally the same world just feels slightly different. I mean it applies in the real world as well how a few years things can look slightly different or somethings feels "changed" and I'm sure this same applies in BOTW to TOTK. But lets be real here TOTK just feels more impactful on WHEREVER or WHATEVER you do and I think thats what matters the most. TOTK gives more purpose to go after enemies and nothing is useless in your inventory because it has meaning. Story wise or lore thats really subjective and preference. Overall BOTW in my opinion feels more like a demo like a good introduction to the Zelda series meanwhile TOTK feels like the complete game. TOTK has (mostly) everything from BOTW and ontop of that it has more content added. The only thing I missed from BOTW is just the previous champions and the horse teleport DLC ability.

      I had to downvote but I agree slightly. I don’t agree that totk is objectively better. Adding more content doesn’t mean better. The pacing, the atmosphere, the guardians, the world, and yes the music. Was way better in breath of the wild. Botw is the better game imo. But tears of the kingdom won’t bore you if you are on the phone with your partner and doing busy work in the game. Tears of the kingdom will keep you playing, but is that what makes a game great?
      As time goes on more and more will see breath of the wild was better, by ALOT.
      It’s also interesting to see how Nintendo views this game, if we get a remaster of breath of the wild soon and Nintendo decides to “Strand” tears of the kingdom on the switch. Like almost deny it’s existence and never port it. Then we know how they feel lmao time will tell

    Botw, unspoken lore everywhere, actual stories in each of the 4 regions with the champs and successors, divine beasts visually looked incredible and their progression made actual sense, hyrule castle as the only true dungeon was incdredible and still is fun to go to just for a fight.
    And that doesnt even include the dlc and master trials.
    Totk beats botw in ui (while flawed), additional enemies, and added content, but if the gameplay meshed with the story of botw, wed have one hell of a game.
    Imagine if an ultimate edition released which had the 3 layer map but with the original divine beasts > calamity ganon story, then after that, you'd get into the story of totk. Id be able to forgive the atrocity of the regional phenomena end cutscenes then, and the lacking story content would finally make sense.

    The switch is closer to the 360 then it is the Xbox one. It's not even close to Xbox one/PS4 levels. It's just a tad over the Wii u, which was basically a 360.
    There is actually a level up system. The more enemies you kill, the better stuff they'll have and the higher the teirs you'll find spawning throughout the world. You should naturally see it essentially.

    • @AltairEgo1
      @AltairEgo1 Před 10 měsíci +1

      Wii U was more powerful than 360, and Switch even more powerful. Switch was basically a midgrade, rather than an all out upgrade.
      But would I say it's 360 levels? Well, no. We've already seen the system run 7th gen games at 1080p, 60 fps, whereas 360/PS3 would cap at maybe 30 to 45, and 720p to maybe 900.
      It's not close to PS4, but it's a step above even Wii U.

    • @bobdylan1968

      the switch is near identical to a Wii u in performance. You can easily see this by the release of breath of the wild. They run near identically.
      And the Wii u was not more powerful than the 360 in performance. On paper, yes. But it had to run both the tv and the stupid tablet at the same time. Which took up that extra power.

Honestly, I think you just do not understand how big was the technological leap between PS3 and PS4.

    • @JAYJAYBEBE
      @JAYJAYBEBE Před 3 měsíci +1

      The Switch graphics are much better than PS3 graphics but not as good as PS4 graphics. However the PS systems are huge and clunky and aren't sleek and portable like the Switch, they are also behind in that they have no screen built into the console. You have to play it at home. I just ran some Breath of the Wild in the waiting room at the doctors office. You have to wait to go home to play your PS4. If the power in your place goes out? You can't play your console. I can just undock the switch and continue playing for hours and hours even in a black out.
      The versality of the Switch is worth the fact that it is a generation and a half behind on graphics. I can play it on an airplane, or during a long car ride somewhere.. You cannot do that with the X Box or PS. They are extremely limited consoles.

Tried to do a new game plus and just wasn’t interested. And even though I got horizon forbidden west, via ps plus, I’m still not really interested. Don’t want same thing with Zelda. Even worse when you consider that TotK Temples have real themes, while Divine Beasts are basically big shrines. The only thing that actually sucks in all temples is the final cutscene (that can be skipped with 2 buttons) and the sages powers.

    BTW I believe even though it shows there are 3 maps in the Purah Pad and there are no loading times, that there are actually just 2 maps and there is loading time.
    Sky Islands and Surface map are one map.
    Depths is another map.
    Evidence is that when you take i.e. a Zonai contraption with you (like riding it while doing into the Chasms) the game freezes for a few seconds. Same happens when you ride on one of the dragons within the Depths and hold on to it while it leaves the Depths.
    And also, while you are in the Chasm, and look up, you will notice that after a while, what ever should be seen from above the chasms isnt there anymore, i.e. the Hyrule Castle Chasm. The Castle which is literally over the chasm, just disappears.
    So, I think Nintendo very cleverly and almost unnoticeably hid the loading/transition from Surface to Depths.

    I have TOTK #5 and BOTW #4 on my all time Zelda list. Ocarina of Time, Majora’s Mask, and Wind Waker are the Holy Trinity of Zelda and always will be. The reason I have BOTW at #4 is because I believe that it was a more enjoyable experience first time through and it will be more memorable as the future goes on. The main theme is absolutely beautiful and the entire game feels perfectly well balanced unlike TOTK which can be overwhelming, tedious, and a pale shadow in comparison when you think about it. Colgeras theme was amazing and the depths were badass so I’ll give it that.

    *SPOILERS* I’m gonna have to disagree with you on how totk has a better story than botw. When it comes to stories, more does not always equal better. The story was not v compelling and the characters were rather stale imo. And as far as character development: the character development is very shallow.
    i.e. Tulin learning how to work as a team or Yunobo learning how to not be a coward was not earned and was kinda just “oh I get it now” in the final scene of the dungeon with no real build up. Botw was very focused in its storytelling. It focused on Zelda. Truly a legend of Zelda game that put love and care into the development of her personality and her motivations. It was a heartbreaking story. All of the champions too had really well developed, fleshed out personalities. They were believable and not cookie cutter. Specifically, Mipha, Urbosa, and Revali. You actually got to see snippets of their “humanity” which totk did not even come close to doing. Totk’s dialogue was also just… I’m sorry it was god awful. You all know what I’m talking about when I say “demon king? Secret stone?” They somehow could not figure out a way to efficiently tell the main overall plot due to the player being able to just go to whatever dungeon first so they just retold it… verbatim… every time… in a 15 minute cutscene at the end of every dungeon. Lmao it was tbh grueling and I was just literally groaning the entire time. The game spoon fed you exposition. That’s not good storytelling.
    And then there’s ganondorf… sigh… okay so calamity Gabon worked as a villain in botw because he was in the background, he was just kinda a faceless evil. Just a thing. Not a person. Totk had the opportunity to FINALLY make Ganondorf be an interesting villain and he just… wasn’t. Like his first line literally is “hyrule will bow down before me!” Which is the summation of his character. He’s just a dude that wants power with 0 character development.

But in Tears, Rauru's efforts and Draconification paid off. TOTK is _everything_ I wanted Botw to be.
