really great people to have grown up around! I love each and everyone of the like they were Family, because then they were all I had growing up here in Bakersfield they were really good to me....
This song is so good. It basically introduced me to Buddy Alan as a singer. The unknown trumpeter was good too (anybody get that trumpet playing soldier’s name).
@billcary30 Not just any ol' bass...Curtsinger was playing a Gibson EB2D. Probably one of the ballsiest instruments ever made. You could actually drive a low-impedance headphone with the neck pickup output.
Good for a laugh. They are so good. We really suffered a lost when these guys and all the others from Hee Haw left us. They will alway be remembered. RIP to the best of the best.
That's Larry Storch from F Troop playing his Agarn character on the trumpet. And some trivia: This song was originally done by the pop group The Ohio Express in the summer of 1970. Their version only Bubbled Under on Billboard but on Cashbox it peaked at I believe #61.
Don and Buddy really did a good job together. That made me laugh. I needed that too. I guess we all just need to lighten up a little. Can't be serious all the time. That's boring. Thanks for the post. Keep 'em coming yankee1830
Yes! Definitely from "Hee Haw"! That show was fun and very funny! But I rejoiced seeing and hearing the music! Priceless performances by Buck, the Buckaroos, Roy Clark, the Hagers, and a "who's who" of country legends! Valhala!
how come it sounds like don and buddy are switching between harmony and lead depending on phrase of song? and why did doyle never get feATURED near as much as don or some of the others did. did he just not want to or buck wouldn't let him? i mean even on stuff he was playing on in early days before don died and they featured don and or (forgot the other guys name) never doyle and never heard him featured on anything at all over the years.
tickle fan It's Jim Shaw. He came along in the mid to late 60's and played keyboard for the Buckaroos after Tom Brumley left. And Doyle singer is on the bass.
What a great moment! Buddy and the incredible Don Rich. "Cowboy Convention" one of Buddy's "Best" on his hits album I picked up around 1972.
I love Buddy and Don. Great stuff. I love that you can hear his smile.
I remember when I was a kid,we had an album of songs from "Hee Haw" and this song was on it.It was always my favorite one...and I love the bugle.😊
This is a great comical song! Love it
Thanks for posting this one!! Don Rich will always be one of my favorites!!!
This is way more entertaining than anything on TV today and I am young!!
One of the regulars at the bar I work at played this and now I can't stop listening to it

You can't help but see the fun here. Don Rich had the most genuine smile.

Actually, I was mistaken on when The Ohio Express' version of the song came out. It was in the fall of 1969 and indeed went to #61 on Cashbox.
Not knocking this, but Don and Doyle should've sung this.

Anyone know when this aired? Had to have been close to Don's accident/death.
I think it's around 1970

qq
Sorry but the guy on the horn makes the video.
Is that Larry Storch from F-Troop?
Yes.
@@drummerbraves No...it's Jim Shaw.
Looks like Doyle Curtsinger playing bass guitar.Who is this drummer anyone?
+57hms19
I think the drummer is named Willie Cantu.
That's Jerry Wiggins who is/was married to Susan Raye.
Jerry Wiggins on drums, plays the drums left handed like Nashville session drummer Eddie Bayers.
