@@User.Joshua Counted 86 cells = 352V. If we presume 500Wh/kg a cell this size (judging by the wire and connector size) is 10Ah, so the complete battery is 3.5 KWh and weighs 20lb. That is amazing, more that twice the energy density on my 2017 BMW i3 battery modules. Those who want to argue me, I'm making several presumptions about size and cell energy density!

@@Tore_Lund I would probably shed a tear for 500 Wh/kg. All I want is a 100 mile EV range with DC charging inside of a Prius Prime. This sounds achievable with those specs.

@@User.Joshua Hmm.. not knowing the specs of the Prius, I'm guessing you'd need 16 Kwh for that kind of range. Get out the angle grinder and refit your Prius with some second hand EV battery modules. That will be around 180 Lb in batteries with current Li-ion tech. You might lose some of your trunk space? standalone CCS modules and sockets can be bought as kits to retrofit EVs without it. If you are a car person, and know someone with electronics skills, it is doable today.

@@Tore_Lund the current Prius Prime can travel 40-50 miles on a useable battery capacity of 10.9 kwh, so I’d imagine one would need maybe a little more than double that given the added weight. If the solid state battery is nearly twice as dense, perhaps it’ll fit in the same space as the current lithium ion batteries. I’ll definitely wait for a factory solution though.

@@59seankyour point? BEV is only 10% of US auto market. Rest of the 90% is ICE, Hybrids, and PHEVs.
Japanese engineers actually have standards. While EV makers lose billions fighting for 5% of automotive market share demand (since Tesla occupies 50% of 10%), Toyota will focus on the next generation of batteries while the market matures and demand increases.
It will be launched when the time is right, and 2023, the infrastructure in the US is still lacking.
