There's been a lot of rumours and speculation surrounding my capture of what is quite simply, the best carp in the land!
I haven't had my say yet and I haven't even told the story and people seem to believe what they have already heard!
This is my story, straight from the heart and THE TRUTH, the whole truth and nothing but the truth!
You can now make your own minds up on this one.
Farewell Burghfield, it's been emotional and I will miss that place massively. Without a doubt, the best big pit in country and the UK's finest common carp to ever swim, all 60lbs of it, enjoy

Terry Hearn says it himself “Anyone who takes on that challenge, fishing for the Burghfield Common, while holding down a 9-5 deserves total respect and admiration” and that’s what you done mate and no one can take that away from you. As for the legalities of it, the Mere, was illegal by law to fish there and those that caught the Black Mirror were the ones who had the bollocks to do so, and those guys are seen as legends. Enjoy it mate, big respect from me.
Every lake has bell ends on Greg you just have to show em how it's has to be done and you certainly did that. Fucking top job in all ways, do what needs to be done. What I have always done and will always do to catch em.💪💪💪👏👏👏👏👏

I have to admit, I had never heard of you before mr Ellis.This was one of the most honest and genuine films of a carp anglers dedication to his craft. I think if the uk had the equivalent to the Holywood walk of fame, you would now have your star alongside Terry / Nigel & the other true carper. The real prize is the sheer beauty of the common & not the fame game. Best thing I have watched in five years. Congratulations again.
Awesome determination to keep going back every week and holding down a regular job. Sadly for me after 36yrs of Carp fishing I have sold my tackle as Carp fishing has changed so much there is so much jealousy and bitterness in it now it’s hard to know who you can talk to on the bank it’s so sad. Fair play, good to set the record straight, from what you have said, it's been fished for years so it's all fair ain't it, Burghfield is ridiculous the way some people can fish certain areas and not others, fair play to you

Get in Ellis. Cracking angling. Every "carp" angler gets the green eyes when they've fished it for years, and you come along and catch a list of bangers in less than 18months. I say fair Frickin play. The whole lock down killed me, and really turned the carp off, plus the otters got brave with none of us about.
Burghfield is a 5min walk from my house and I spent many years on and off and I know for a fact the island has been fished for years going back to when phil champion was head baliff . Huge respect gregg as that place takes a special angler to crack it ive fished most of the big pits in the south and nothing comes close to Burghfield

Not the best carp to everyone.. prefer mirrors myself so I'd rather have a heavy scaled 60lb mirror it's the difficulty of the fish that attracts people to it and personally I think butthead looks nicer and growing still and has broke 60lb itself

Never ceases to amaze me how quickly people change from praising you when your catching and finding the fish to cussing you when you’ve actually thought outside the box legally I might add and caught what you’ve worked hard for!! Actually shows you just how much those true friends respect you and just how many others were just hanging on for the ride......so glad to see you catch your prize finally and it’s well deserved and all those other fish as well.....and goes to show thinking outside the box works when nothing else does. I've just watched this vlog I know it's over a year since Greg had the Burghfield common but when you here that people are giving the man grief for using his brains and seeing an opportunity to fish stealthy to achieve his goal. It's all a little bit sad surely we should all have a bit of respect for him for thinking outside the box and give him the credit he deserves on the capture of what is an amazing achievement. Well done and outstanding angling.

I’ve been fishing for about 2 years now. The common is a carp I have looked to since I started, imo a big common just can’t be beat. But after this I don’t think I’d want to fish Burghfield. This was great angling and anyone who says otherwise isn’t a true angler but I just wouldn’t have it in me to do what you did. Great idea, great story & an awesome carp

Top angling m8. Carping has a long history of pushing the limits and even pulling strokes: which this is not! This is pushing the limits, having a vision, seeing a way to achieve it and going for it! Anything now coming from the other guys who fish the lake is now pure jealousy and hypocrisy! As a fisherman, I admit that, I'm a lake side camper with the odd fish thrown in: that's what i like and what i enjoy. I also enjoy watching guys, like Greg , who are really driven, think outside the box, and go all out to get whatever fish they are after . They are peculiar animals that deserve to be admired by us mere mortals and to be talked about in hushed tones! On the subject of tones there is a problem, however, and that is being subjected to the musical tones in his videos ;) . The rule change will give the idiots a sense of importance when undermining your hard work and they will cry into their empty landing nets. Greg caught this fish fairly and squarely: something the naysayers will probably never be able to say. Once again WELL DONE!
