Call of Duty's Most Infamous Sniper Rifle - Loadout

- If you played Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 after its release in 2009, the Intervention is a rifle that you’ll be familiar with. It went from being a relatively unknown weapon in the real world, to a digital firearm capable of seemingly impossible feats of sniping in COD’s multiplayer battlegrounds. But how exactly did the Intervention become so infamous?
- Hry
The fact that the trick shot kid is 20+ now is so weird, how we all grow.

MW2 had so many good weapons that I never thought Intervention as overpowered. Famas, M16, Scar, ACR, UMP, RPD, AUG, Raffica, AK-47... all great weapons capable of killing at any range. I remember playing Black Ops and trying to decide which gun I hated the least.
It was the funny rocket launcher with 4 ports if you need help remembering.
Honestly, the Barret is just as infamous in the call of duty community. It's just not memed into the ground like the Intervention
That is actually pretty strange. I always enjoyed barrett more than intervention back in mw2 days
lol no its not
quiz. Lol yes it is
Ur sentence contradicts itself. U say it’s just as infamous yet you say how the intervention was memed more. Thus making it more infamous since it got the spotlight in clips and montages while the Barrett didnt
On paper the Barret is superior, but I've used both and had significantly more success with the Intervention. Maybe I was better with it because I had more fun using it?
This is actually a good video. Do more!
PillarOfWamuu thanks!
PillarOfWamuu yes I wanna see one about the ACR
I remember the days of R700, back in original MW, when everyone and their mother was quick-scoping and doing other shenanigans. Then MW2 dropped and it all started again with the intervention.
I've never been a fan of that kind of gameplay myself. But i get the pleasure in one-shoting folks...every third shot 🤣
The m82 .50 cal from COD4 was so OP on overgrown (or any map really)
However my favorite shots were on the Battlefield franchise. Shooting a chopper pilot feels so great
I used to be in a clan that was founded before FaZe and was one of the first trickshotting clans. I played with some of the biggest names and I miss these days. Some people might remember us, we had a competitive and trickshotting team known as ZeTrix or zT when names got too long.

Ahhh what a time to be alive. MW2 and Black ops sounds will forever be engrained in my memory
Quickscoping, or to be more accurate: 360 noscoping, wasn't nearly a prolific or even possible on PC without a hell of a lot of trial and error, and a healthy dose of luck. The reason 360 noscoping was so prevalent on those old OG and Faze videos is it was all on console, where the aim assist would "stick" your reticle to the target, and the netcode and hit registration was designed for P2P console play. Every trickshot video on youtube will have that D-pad icon in the bottom right indicating it's on console.
You don't see trickshotting like that any more because the netcode of subsequent games is fundamentally different and not nearly as conducive to pulling that shit off. Even compare MW2 to say, BF3. Trickshotting wasn't a thing in BF3, even on console because there wasn't the same level of aim assist.
No. Trick shotting is still a thing. It's gone away because the amount of tricks you can actually do has been taken away one at a time. Ladder stalls, claymore cancels, everything that made it fluid was taken away. Not because aiming became harder. 95% of the shots you see are primarily random luck.
checkout xWASDMitch
Ok buzzkill
Many trickshotters would actually disable aim assist because it messed with spin timing when shots were 360+
ullantra No lie, this might be one of the most wrong comments I have ever seen on a CZcams video
The real reason the Intervention was so popular is because of the acog M40A3 from the first modern warfare. One hit kill every time! Those were good times
People forget the fact the m40 was the grandfather of quickscoping not the intervention
dude says he will always remember the intervention because of the hitmaker sound effect lol wtf? people used the intervention it was the only bolt action sniper rifle. The sniping community has always discriminated against semi-autos unless you're hitting multis.
Sounded like he was saying the hitmarker symbol was unique to the intervention lol. Very confusing.
@@SmashCentralOfficial I think the presenter is a bit lost, Intervention is just preferred because theres a penalty to missing your shot in the time it takes for the bolt action. It just looks cooler if you take two shots and only hit one with the Intervention as opposed to the 50 cal, because if youre spraying with the 50 cal its just like any other semi fire and nobodys trying to watch FAL trick shot videos.
Y’all really just didn’t understand what he meant. You just have poor comprehension.
@@jacobeldredge2956 thanks for your input
Sure thing buddy
It's crazy how so many people are feeling this kind of thing for VR now is mind-blowing. Getting a sniper shot in VR is amazing.
FUck i miss the intervention (and MW2 period) so much! Quickscoping days were the best, seriously, although they've finally brought back some remanence to it with the latest Modern Warfare, the ADS is still just not as quick, and more times than not i still have to aim all the way down to get the kill.
well balance just balancing the game with lowering ADS time and gun sways
With a full kitted 98K you can quick scope.
awesome series!! keep em coming!!

I actually liked the Barrett more than the Intervention especially because of the gunshot sound.

The intervention had a learning curve but once you got used to it, it was the best sniper. Although not as quick shooting as the WA200 (the shorter fast firing sniper), quick/no scoping allowed for quicker shooting then normally allowed i believe. Also one shot kills were more common with the Intervantion then the other sniper, regardless of where the person was hit.
just talking nonsense, in pretty much every way the Barrett .50 is better than the intervention (based on weapon stats), even the intervention has the worst idle amount in the game (while all other snipers have the same idle amount) the only advantage that the intervention has in relation to the Barrett .50 is the reload time (because it obviously has a smaller mag)
@@gamerbg294 nah, maybe in the latest patch but back in MW2, the Intervention was King. The .50 cal had more power, but you couldn't quickscope/no scope with it as well as you could with the Intervention. Even drawing it was slower if I remember correctly.
That said, of course there were exceptions but back then everyone ran the Intervention, because it was the best one to use overall.
Nope, the Barrett is better in every single way other than reload speed. No reason to use the intervention.

They really should’ve put this in to mw when they added rust! Missed opportunity!
The AX50 is supposed to be the replacement for the intervention. The caliber is pretty similar but the AX50 is a lot slower. They have a pretty similar silhouette. The Intervention was super OP so if we had it in MW2019 it would have to be nerfed and then everyone would complain about it. The AX50 is pretty great though.
The caliber is not even close to similar. We're talking .408 CheyTac comparing with a .50 BMG.
I never understood why so many people prefer the intervention over the Barrett. The Barrett has the exact same damage model except it’s semi automatic and has a larger magazine capacity. Guess there’s just something about a bolt action...
I spammed the Barrett, I love the barrett more than the M200
5:10 I’ve watched so many meme compilations that when I hear that hit marker I laugh a little
MoM GeT THe CAmera ! aunnnnn
The accuracy and terminal ballistics of the 50 cal and Lapua are *FAR* from the same.
There are two things in life that people seem to have no shame in speaking authoritatively about regardless of their lack of knowledge of even the very basics - economics, and guns.
I love in Arma 3 (3:24) how the Rifle loads itself with another round without the Players hand/arm moving ^^
I was expecting some kind of history about the weapon like in some other vids but I was pleasantly surprised 😆
"A strange change, to be sure..."
...but a welcome one!
My memory of the weapon comes from hundreds of hours of covert sniper operations in Arma 3. Loved it's long range capability and sleek looks.
People will still swear that FMJ increases damage to this day🤦♂️
Hated quick-scoping back then, hate it now... will forever hate it... it completely breaks the reason I play games like that.
Manufactured by EDM Arms in association with Cheytac. It was also known as the windrunner
Someone who knows the actual history. Nice.
nothing more satisfying than charging and knifing a quick scoper. bonus points if they panic and try to run away
I love that you guys had all the actual facts behind the Firearm! You don't see that to often.
Not quite all the facts.
The only bad thing that ruined call of duty is the fact that people think that you HAVE to quickscope with a bolt-action sniper rifle.
ItS nOt SnIpInG iF yOu DoNt QuIcKsCoPe
@@CryBladeLol, I know right? It's so humorous how people force others into using that playstyle in Call of Duty.
The thing about bolt action and why they are superior in games is that it forces you to get back into cover after taking a shot, making you a hard target while giving you a slight breathing room and decide on your next move. With the Barrett, youre not forced to get behind cover although you can, it is much more appealing staying scoped in waiting your opponent out. The bolt makes sure youre always moving. Also, back in the day aim assist was also pretty strong on consoles, making quick scopes was a better guarantee to hit the target compared to manually aim.
Always fun seeing trickshot clips and it's almost always on a console
Anyone else notice that the M200 sounded different in campaign? Never understood why game companies change sounds between multiplayer and campaign.
One of the funniest references to these quickscoping trickshots is the "420 sniperdragon" in synthetik 1. The thing has a special perk that makes you deal drastically more damage after you turned 360°. Combine that with the fact you are playing an isometric shooter which means doing that 360° turn isn't nearly as disorienting and you got yourself a beast!
Put this in COD 2019 and see the nostalgia explode!
that old youtube format gave me so much nostalgia.
Might be a surprise to some, but some of the trick shots on cod mobile, very well might have been done on PC. People can easily play the game on PC's, and it leads to even moderately skilled players dominating most lobbies
For some reason, I misread the thumbnail as "The Internet won," and had to do a double-take
The Intervention is the quickscope gun, the sound, the look, the bolt animation, it's just so good. The reason it was considered better than the Barret was because it was a bolt action gun, the M82 was seen as requiring less skill because as a semi-auto it was more forgiving to misses. We can't forget the other iconic guns of MW2 that solidified the series, the ACR, the UMP 45, noob tubing plebs with an M4 with an underbarrel grenade launcher, akimbo G18s, akimbo Rafficas, and the fallen god that was pre nerf Models.
"MOM GET THE CAMERA!" Kills me everytime 🤣

Barrett and maybe the R700 was the first snipers to be popular then the Intervention came and introduced quickscoping then as it evolves to other games like Bo2 with the Ballista and Dsr, Ghosts the Usr and Lynx, AW with Mors, Bo3 with the Locus and Svg 100, Cod IW with TF-141, Cod ww2 with the Lee Enfield and Kar98k Cod Bo4 with The Koshka and Outlaw, and finally Cod MW (2019) With the Ax50, Hdr, Spr, and Kar98k and Cod Bocw with the Pellington and Tundra

People always talk about how campaign is useless, when it lets you compare all the snipers in stealth missions, that was my favorite in campaign, it ripped through crowds.
PS: MW2 shows it only ONCE, but it teaches you to go prone when you pop field mines, which you can go prone to and not get hurt in MW2020
