They painted a much rosier picture of Brigham Young than he deserves. He did not treat all of his wives as well as depicted in the movie and one of them left him and told how she was mistreated. There was also no mention of the Mormon massacre of a wagon train of settlers.

I’m sure Brigham Young was probably a creep, but I’m not taking his ex wife’s word for it. That’s People Magazine bullshit.

This is not the best movie I've ever seen, but it is pretty good. What is remarkable is not the movie itself, but the amount of rage and hatred appearing in many of the comments. The Mormons that I've met throughout my life in various places have been good honest people, and pretty dang righteous in their behaviors.

Ikr! I'm not Mormon myself, but every Mormon I've ever met has been awesome and they've treated me with kindness.
I don't understand the vitriol against Mormons; but people do tend to get salty in CZcams comments.

I've tried to read the book of Mormon twice but couldn't get past the first few pages. It seemed like mythology on steroids. All of the Mormons that I've met seemed very happy. When I passed through Salt Lake City it seemed very clean. What can I say, except all belief is folly, even believing all belief is folly is folly? All of History should be studied and pondered.

Other than A Christmas Carol (1984), this is possibly my most fave TV movie! The guy who played Brigham Young was calm yet badass!😄 I also likes the way he foresees the future of the church in the end scene. Quite powerful in a way. A very unique western indeed.

I am not a Mormon, but, reading the comments, it seems no one read in the description of what this movie was about "The story of Brigham Young and the Mormons westward migration". It is someone telling the journey as they see it. All I can see from the comments, is, "haters are always going to hate".

Nor am I a Morman. Indeed, I read the description of what the movie was to be portrayed. I watched it, enjoyed it, yet, have the right to utilize critical thought in determining if accurate historical basis or bias agenda. I might not agree w/some comments; however engage an "Agree to Disagree' as opposed to calling people "haters" because they differed from my viewpoint.

The story with the locusts is true and same for the arrival of the seagulls.
The locusts were a big problem for a good number of years, until the species disappeared.
    And now the "forgotten" part:
At least one convoy of wagons with people trying to immigrate and settle in the far West were attacked by Mormon detachments, who killed all the people in the convoy, including women and children.
This happened more than once, if I remember right.
Few decades later, the Mormon leadership had to surrender those responsible to the U.S. Government, for trial and execution, in exchange for normalized relations with Washington DC.

Isn't 14 years old a child? Joseph Smith had 34 wives, ten of them were teenagers and one of them was only 14 years old. Smith was also married to women who were already married with living husbands and the husbands knew nothing about it.
Joseph Smith said there were people living on the moon that dressed like Quakers and lived to be 1000 years old.
“The inhabitants of the moon are more of a uniform size than the inhabitants of the earth, being about 6 feet in height. They dress very much like the Quaker style and are quite general in style or the one fashion of dress. They live to be very old; coming generally, near a thousand years.” This is the description of them as given by Joseph the Seer, and he could ‘See’ whatever he asked the Father in the name of Jesus to see. Since he was wrong about the moon, is it safe to trust him regarding the way to Heaven? (The Young Woman's Journal, vol. 3, p. 263-264. See reprint in Mormonism--Shadow or Reality? by Jerald and Sandra Tanner, p. 4.)
Brigham Young said that there were people living on the sun.
"“Who can tell us of the inhabitants of this little planet that shines of an evening, called the moon?… when you inquire about the inhabitants of that sphere you find that the most learned are as ignorant in regard to them as the most ignorant of their fathers. So it is in regard to the inhabitants of the sun. Do you think it is inhabited? I rather think it is. Do you think there is any life there? No question of it; it was not made in vain. It was made to give light to those who dwell upon it, and to other planets; and so will this earth when it is celestialized.” - Brigham Young, Discourse 31"

Where does the bible confirm Mary's age when she had Jesus?
You're attempting to create a straw-man argument. We aren't arguing how fast children grew up in the 19th century. We're arguing that having multiple child wives was not normal, nor common, to anyone outside the Mormon cult.

Or Jesus' story, etc.? was it not Jesus who said if anything disagreed with the Word of God (as He had lain out in His Holy Word) to disregard it (loose quote, of course)? Does this or Mormonism agree with the Bible? I do believe God still talks to ppl, but not to get them to come up with another belief structure or to disagree with the rest of the Bible but maybe a few places......

They have some screwy teachings but the people have good hearts. I pray for them.

If this is a truthful account of what Brigham Young, his family, and his neighbors faced because of their beliefs in God, then those murderers were filled with demons and hatred for no justifiable reason. At 35:00, the graphic scene of a massacre by haters: I never knew they had encountered such violence .

I had no idea tar and feathering was so gruesome! I spent a day learning about Mormonism during a visit to SLC; nice place, nice people but being a black Catholic I don't think I'd hit it off in that community though I live their sense of community, they tithe and work very hard all of which I can personally identify with. Regarding the movie, nice con job-howling at the moon, gimme' a break-white folks. (sarcasm)

do your homework and don't be deceived. yes Christianity has had those in it that were false as well, but Christianity was founded by all godly men. Mormonism was founded by false prophets, and you have to take into account the character and lives of the founders of any belief.

4200 religions in the world and thousands of Godly figure heads. Which one is true? The one Jew that wondered aimlessly in the Muslim territory? Just because it was written down 300-500 years after the mystery, magic, and tales? Blind can see and raise the dead? Come on fools.

The entire Bible is about the Lord Jesus Christ. The Old Testament says He’s coming. The Gospels say He’s here. The book of Acts proclaim Him. The epistles explain Him. And Revelation says He’s coming again. That’s the Bible in a nutshell.
How do I know which one is the true religion? When you take the prophecy of Christ hundreds of years before his virgin birth, you take the purity of his life, unmatched, totally unmatched til this very day, then the death that he promised for the forgiveness of sins and then the resurrection. When Jesus was asked how he was going to demonstrate the resurrection, if he were a fake, he could have said, “I’m going to spiritually rise again” and they would never be able to falsify it but he said, “I’m going to bodily rise again” and then he did. No other religion offers this.
This is how I know that Christianity is the correct religion.
