The family of Sonya Massey is demanding justice after they say authorities tried to cover up her fatal shooting by a sheriff’s deputy in Springfield, Illinois, by initially claiming it was “self-inflicted.” Police body-camera footage showed this was a lie. The 36-year-old mother of two was shot dead in her own home on July 6 after she called 911 for help. “This is the worst police shooting video that I’ve seen. It is so senseless,” says Ben Crump, a civil rights attorney representing the family. “[Massey] needed a helping hand. She did not need a bullet to the face.”

I can tell after the shooting he said he wasn’t about to get burned in the face by hot water, like he was establishing on camera that he felt he was in danger, but after seeing that she is dead, panic started to set in. He was impulsive and trigger happy then afterwards he is not remorseful or try to look concerned (you first have to be human being) and didn’t want his partner to check. It will never happen. Look into police unions. They make the rules. They represent accused officers. They keep trouble off job applications if there was no jail time. I am a white woman and called for police help in WV who physically attacked me years ago. This is happening all over this country. My arm was almost ripped out of its socket, and I needed $10,000 in surgery to attach the ripped muscles from my arm to my shoulder. Four police officers hung me upside down and carried me like a handcuffed roasted pig for several hundred yards to put me in the police car. They never arrested me for anything. They forced me to leave the state. I was a disabled 50 year old woman, with no criminal history, being harassed by the police.
