I've apparently learned a lot from you over the years. My build was almost exactly the same. I was surprised how good deadly fascination was even on unfair. They really made warpriests great again!
There is a sawtooth saber in act III that also makes enemies flat-footed. So there is really never a need to go for Shatter Defenses with this class. 👍

One thing to mention. You said how difficult it would be for a war priest to heal a melee-focused skeleton companion with their limited spellcasting. You do have the negative energy fervor which is otherwise useless but would heal an undead party member.
Hmmm... I think I just found a good build that can be modified for the Swarm mythic path! Mantis makes for a very thematic class for the Swarm, and with a couple of changes this could be a ton of fun and very powerful! Thanks, cRPG Bro! :)

Mantis requires you pick Achaekek as a deity, which is lawful evil. It's important to know that if you want to mix the class and Swarm, you can only be neutral evil.
@@susaac9755 Yeah, you'd have to make several Chaotic choices as you play, and ride the edge of the alignment change until you were ready to switch to the Swarm. It would be tricky, but not impossible.
I'm still working out the kinks of it, myself... I haven't had a chance to start a new game yet, I'm playing some other games atm.

Great guide, was interested in this one. Since you can play this class as lawful neutral I'm thinking of pairing it with aeon for the up close and personal gazes and wicked bane melee

Awesome vid! I know its an older archetype, but id like to see your take on a tandem executioner build. I went 4 levels of sable company for hippogriff but then went tandem. I think tandem gives the pet much better survivability and can do a nice job triggering free attacks
I would love to see you stream theory-crafting or testing builds
seems some of these new classes are pretty good. I am playing with a ranger- sable core marine now for the Griffon dive and it's really good too, like a tactical nuke from anywhere with charge.

@@cbake52 Falchions have the same crit range as scimitars, on't think Bardiches can outclass that, though they do have reach.
@@Syurtpiutha it's a trade off between different passives for taking exotic or getting reach.

What do you think about evil solo run with this character? Hard or unfair I am before the Drezen. Looks like the only problem is the low amount of skill points but it's manageable.

The praying killer free intimidate would be nice with a thug dip of 4 levels. With the free intimidate from cornugan smash, praying killer, dreadful carnage, and your fear aura that’s a a lot of intimidation. And brutal beating is always nice. Maybe legend with sanctified slayer.

I haven't played swarm yet so this is a genuine question, would this be a decent choice for it? Going neutral evil and trying to use the dex bonus at I think MR9? Seems like it'd fit flavour wise
When does one take Piranha Strike over Power Attack? Threads seem to say take power always because of feats behind it. Is the damage difference between the two severely significant?

Did you miss the book of +4 inherent to all stats in DLC6? I didn't see it on your dex tooltip.
I like the idea of a lich build for it I never even thought of lich I went with aeon due to the aeon gazes and bound of possibility to gain permanent haste i know role playing wise aeon doesn't fit due to mantis zealot is meant to be an assassin and assassins don't really fit the whole no one is above the law role playing that you would need for an aeon
I'm not really into the lich for the mantis cause or the lore. Out of the two, what would you think would work better as an alternative? Trickster or demon legend? Build wise.
Frankly lore wise none of them fit besides Devil or Legend, both of which are late game only.
Since their main deity is LE, but at least Lich can be of that alignment, not so much for Demon & Trickster!
Do you have a video guide for Lich mythic path?
If I remember correctly they get their own companions and such, so I'm curious who you would pair with such a mantis assassin.

Hey, out of curiosity, would it still be *fine* to instead go for Mythic Armor Focus (Light Armor) Avoidance instead of Archmage Armor? This is, of course, under the assumption of moving some feats around to get Light Armor Focus
It can be done since you'd still get high AC, I just think it's easier and lighter on feats with Archmage Armor + Haramaki.

Can you make a Sister Friede build (from DS3) with a new archetype, please?
How about 1 level dip into monk for WIS AC? Having high WIS should also help with saving throws against your Mantis Swarm bleeding for extra dmg on following attacks and extra spells.
Also, have you tried mantis+living grimoir legend? Do their Sacred Weapon levels stack for sabers?
Red shroud gives you 6 dodge ac, 60% base miss chance against all non aoe's, and 15 hp/tick fast healing , 3d6 extra damage a hit, all based off dex so... You don't really need any more defenses.
Also fascination's DC only works off mantis zealot levels and dex. So multiclassing even 1 levels is going to cut the DC of anything by 2. And lose you the level 20 ability to be a cuisinart blender that's completely immortal for 1 minute.

cRPG bro. All games you’ve played. What would you say is your favorite? Also have you played any total war games or other RTS games like that?
For games I enjoy the most, both Baldur's Gate 2 & Wrath of the Righteous, I just think BG2 still does some things better than Wrath like Magic, Companions, Side Quests.
While Wrath has other nice stuff like way more Build options, Mounted Combat, Mythic Paths, Pets etc.
I don't really have any experience with RTS games but I do enjoy Civilization IV a lot, especially with mods like Fantasy ones, which i know is a different subgenre but I suppose similar in style.

I would prefer weapons with the highest crit range, so Rapiers, Fauchards, Kukris, Falchions & especially Scimitars!

Would a mantis zealot demon be viable?
I did a Mantis Zealot unfair run on Aeon/Devil Mythic path, and I know that mythic path is probably the weakest of them all, but even with that the Mantis Zealot was a strong class.
Definitely one of my new favorites!
How did you build your mythic? I've wanted to try devil, but the fact that you have to start of as Aeon/Azata kinda held me off (Azata is generally better but strikes me as 'your character has to be monumentally stupid or never would have become Azata to begin with').
@@Syurtpiutha Pretty much the same as the mythic build in this video. The class is forced to be lawful so it cannot be Azata (for roleplay and mythic alignment quest reasons), and since Azata is better for spellcasters and not melee builds, Aeon is better here because it does give you Aeon bane, better than anything that Azata can give it.

I think it can still be good if you have the feats to spare, but for this build you have enough DEX to catch enemies Flat-footed, also, the best Sabertooth Saber does it for free!

Any plans for a Blood Seeker build? seems kind of weak but thematically very cool...
It's actually less weak than it seems at first glance. Two of the spells in particular give profane bonuses to Strenght and Dex early which stack with everything, and the raven swarm form is actually pretty good too. The exclusive summon it gets is also nice, and you have a very easy time replenishing your resource pool. The big blasting spells seem mostly not great however.
I'll see what I can do, the Bloody Beast skeleton summon at least is really good for when you first get it!

@@cRPGBro Thanks. The way I look at it now it is like 10 BS/8 Weretouched/1 Demon Slayer/1 Viv...anything past 10 seems meh; if you take Weretouched up to level 6 at least you can make the the ED bite primary...
@@spellandshield true but a capstone is a capstone. It takes a while to supersede the blood abilities, and it supersedes them. also nice for rejecting nocticulas gift
I feel like the sabers are drawn upside down in the game; it it was up to me, they should curve downward like the forelimbs of a mantis, not up like a scimitar.

Holdon, what is the nerf of Shatter Defences? I just checked it's description and did not see anything different :/
Before, it worked automatically so long as the enemy was Shakened/Frightened, for all attacks of everyone that had the feat, including even spells with attack rolls.
Now, you need to actually hit them first, and then the subsequent attacks will receive the Shatter Defenses benefits!
@@cRPGBro Oh I see, that kinda sux, but usually you pick that feat on fighting classes, which shouldn't have problem hitting without it, so realistically it only nerfs the first round and that is if you are ambushed only. It doesn't seem that severe. Unless of course your shaken source comes at the end of your first round then you lose 2 rounds which can be very annoying
PATHFINDER HYPE TRAIN GO
Alternate sabers:
Act 5 from Wilcer Garm or the blacksmith, don't remember: Crimson Verdict. +4 evil outsider bane gives you a toggle that gives +4 to all attacks with both hands, for the cost of ac-1 if you're dual wielding
Act2 from Wilcer Garm: Quick punishment +1 cold iron, every time you hit a new enemy you get an extra full bab attack that stacks with haste. If you kill something and switch to another target? Another extra attack.
Act 5 from Drezen: Ultrathin edge: +4 on flat footed enemies or if you are flanked, you do 3d6 extra sneak attack
Act 3 Drezen: Mantis Favor: Keen +3 every time you crit you heal 2d8+5 and become immune to crits
They really expected you to have 2-3 characters using these new weapons, huh?
It's nice that Owlcat actually spread them all over the game!

Yep!
But in that case, it's MUCH better to go Trickster > Legend, because this way you'll retain the special Trickster feats that increase Crit range & damage (that you should start picking at around level 11-13 through the Perception 2 Mythic Trick at Mythic Level 4).

Well, STR based dual wielding could a bit better as you could stack the STR to the sky.
The main issue is the strongest ability of Mantis Zealot, Red Shroud, is directly tied to DEX mod for duration/uses!
If you really read this class abilities description, it's all scale with DEX
I'm with you on the now-useless nature of Shatter Defenses. The nerf makes almost worthless, especially considering you need to take 3 feats to get it. If you need it to hit enemies, it's useless because you can't hit the enemy to activate it, and if you can already hit the enemy, then you don't need it because you can already hit the enemy. The times when it would come in useful are very niche or very fiddly to arrange (such as using a swift-action true strike to get the first hit). I find it very hard to justify taking it on any character now.
I still find it useful because if I need to roll dice 15+ plus to hit an enemy, shatter defence will help alot after that first shot.
But can it handle Hosila?
Yes, since you still have a party of 4 at that point including the classic Leopard Tank Dispenser like Lann/Wenduag, haha.

Before, you made similar builds with strength because it's easier to increase strength with buffs and you don't need to spend a mythic feat. Why this time your build based on dexterity? You decide thats Iniative is more important than atack and damage rolls?
The main ability of Mantis Zealot, upon which all others are based, Red Shroud, has duration/uses that scales directly based on your Dexterity!
DEX is the way to go then otherwise you won't be able to use it as much.
