ABOUT…
I am Rebecca and I am one heck of a passionate vocal coach/singer/songwriter/impressionist/health/fitness/self- improvement/anything that makes me smile!! I love anything vocal/singing related and geek out on it every day. I want to motivate and inspire others to follow their dreams…corny? Well maybe but it’s true. So what’s motivating me?? I had a huge tumour removed summer 2017 and my ovaries and fallopian tubes. The tumour was the size of a 20 week baby!! However, despite not being able to walk for a couple of weeks, and feeling generally awful…. It has made me create and do what I love! It wasn’t an easy time but I won’t let fear dictate my life. I didn’t think ‘why me’, there are plenty of horrific issues people have to deal with…it’s not always smooth sailing. It’s true when you hear, ‘Life is short’, the crazy thing is, I am glad it happened…I appreciate life even more and practice gratitude everyday…It’s so easy to get caught up with the little things…and I do sometimes, but look at the bigger picture, will it matter in a year or two…?

Lisa Gerrard is why I started loving folk, and why I spent years in a folk club. I finished my music career attempting to sound like her folk techniques. Couldn't have happened in a better way.
Without a shadow of a doubt, one of the best voices on this planet. Not sure how anyone can describe her, but who cares, she's sublime.

"Host Of Seraphim" should always be played with this,it's like they were meant to be...even if there's a 10 year gap between both songs - heavenly is the only word to describe these 2 songs.

Please tell me you have heard of Lisa Gerrard!!!! She was only the voice in just about every Roman/Greek tragedy movie from 300 to Gladiator. Oh and was the main vocal for "Dead Can Dance"

Lisa Gerrard is mostly known through her work with Brendan Perry in Dead Can Dance, and their live album 'Toward the Within' might be my favorite album of all time... some of the songs from it are on CZcams, on video, so I would highly recommend them to you.
I’d add her work would be more known by the music she did with Hans zimmer , he described her as his go to for vocals , she’s that good . Like the gladiator soundtrack, and song at the end of the mist , or legends of the guardians, owls of go ule.

Host of seraphim is an unutterable ineffable experience. Chills to the bone.
She sings in Aramaic mostly. Its an old language, what Jesus spoke. She also does make up stuff, like in the songs with Hans Zimmer. But some songs she blends multiple languages, like Bulgarian, Celtic, and Aramaic. I think she uses what will make the sound she wants.
No, that is quite the fallacy. Lisa sings in various (real) languages, Cocteau Twins Liz Frazier uses 'sounds' in many songs and NOT all of them.

If you like Gerrard, seriously you'd be doing yourself a great disservice to not check out her band with the comparably talented Brendan Perry, "Dead Can Dance", I've been on them since about the mid-90's and they are absolutely breathtaking, a mix of her voice and almost a post-modern world music kind of thing

Lisa developed her voice from sitting under overpasses and mimicking the sounds of vehicles driving from overhead. This is not a joke. There is a documentary online where she talks about this. You can hear it in her entry and exits to sounds.

The first time I heard this amazing song was during a pivotal scene in The Insider. Of course she’s best known for the Gladiator soundtrack but her other work is equally brilliant.

Ive watched a few of your other videos but was amused by your response to Lisa and I get it. She is one of a kind. She is an Australian artist, being a singer and composer. Her lyrics are what is called glossolalia, which she invented her own as a child. Her singing is somewhat influenced by the middle eastern singing style called Maqamat. She is definitely unique and I love her work. I actually played this track while driving through the desert in the middle of Australia at dusk. It was a profound experience. (P.S: I subscribed a few videos ago. )

Floored! that is what I am now, because earlier when I saw this posting, it was like "Oh, I am sure Rebecca has a full working knowledge of the divine voice that is Lisa Gerrard" then when I got to the video, mouth on floor is from the shock of all of it. My first exposure to her was from the movie Gladiator, which was like what is this sound it is so amazing and transcendental. Later there was a Godsmack documentary I was watching and the lead singer, Sully Erna commented on how a certain number people has really impressed him, with their singing ability, she was one of them. (They have a lot great songs, but for reaction purposes, I would like to suggest *STAND ALONE*) I thought about getting one of her CD's one time and they were incredibly expensive, which if you are the best then paying for such quality goes hand in hand.
The complete Discography is Online on CZcams for example.I am a LIsa/DCD Collector since they started 1981.Much more than 100 Records now on Vinyl and CD plus the DVDs and BluRays.Its a lifetime job to collect all the main and sideprojects of Brendan and Lisa.Enyoy the Trip :)
