i met a beautiful girl at a club when this song was playing, she and i are married with 3 daughters now, what a wonderful RIDE pun intended, awesome band and awesome song
I heartily second that. I know as each decade of life passes, we're supposed to change and mature but when I watch this video, I can't help missing that Friday evening feeling of getting ready to go out...feeling like EVERYTHING was possible.
Depends on where you lived. Keep in mind it's pre Internet so you are at the mercy of what's local. That said I didn't get into Ride until 2010ish. Back in the early 90s it was mainly Metal, Pop, or Hip Hop State side. Yeah, this would have been awesome to see back then. I did catch them live when they toured their "Best Of" album. Sounded the same as the CDs so no complaints there.😉👍✨
Legends. It's hilarious that I posted the below post 4 years ago and I'm returning 4 years later after 3 red ales this evening. I normally don't drink, but whatever. I saw RIDE with Lush back in 1991 in Cleveland, and I finally saw RIDE again 2 months ago in Detroit in 2023. AMAZING! I hope to see them again sometime. One of the greats!
I don't think I will ever get tired of listening to the drums on this song. Why this guy wasn't ever listed anywhere as one of the best drummers of the 90s is beyond me.
Was minding my own business catching up on the Lush back catalogue and then I clicked on this random suggestion. Holy crap ! Jangle heaven. How come I missed this and them first time round ?? Every now and again you come across a perfect example of the genre, and this ladies and gentlemen is the winner for early 90’s indie. I rest my case
Every time I hear this tune, no matter what mood I'm in, it makes me feel like I injected a bunch of dopamine, serotonin, and endorphins directly into my brain. What a brilliant song.
It’s been said that the creation records scene in the late 80s early 90s was like a recreation of the 60s. This video in some way portrays that I think.
@@modernchampionmusic81 Enough that they are still remembered fondly. So long as they didn't end up having to go on the Dole, then I hope their success took care of the bills.
So joyous and beautiful. I love it a way similar to The Cure's "Friday I'm in Love." I am now a geezer, and I dance around to this, spinning in clumsy circles. I am free.
Any minute you will feel The chemistry Vibrations in the brain Can't ever be explained Slip away and out of sigh Feel the magnet of a night The circus lights you see Is where you have to be If I've seen it all before Why's this bus taking me back again If I don't need anymore Why's this bus taking me back again Feel the weight of letting go Feel more lightness than you've ever known You can't see when light`s so strong You can't see when light is gone
I want to be 14 again back in 1992 in a time capsule listening to this and messing about at school being a numpty and doing homework badly in other lessons under the desk in such a way that I didn't understand either the homework or the content of the other lessons and so ended up a total and utter cretin and failure in life, that is where it all started, my non-descript life, and I would love to go back in time for a whole day and experience the simple joys I experienced back then, wonderful days, the 1990s were cool.
@@davebest2001 Couldn’t agree more! Carnival of Light is criminally ignored and definitely still their best album. Weather Diaries and This Is Not A Safe place are brilliant too.
theres something so magical about this music video, from the nostalgic house gig environment, to the normal people just letting loose and all moving together, to andy's constant switching between t-shirt and blazer
@charles wheelock That is what I meant by a "reference". It makes a clear enough connection, but yes, a substantial version of the song from the film would be something else again.
@@lartensgrill6106 Yeah, there's definitely a 60s rock influence, like bits of The Beatles or The Who circa "The Kids Are Alright". It's also not as fuzzy as most of the songs on Nowhere.

This is a beautiful story. :)
Nice.
NOT ME CRYING OVER A RANDOM CZcams COMMENT !!!!! 😭huhu ty for sharing
That’s awesome!!
cool!
how beautiful storie ; ) great song!
This song has to be quite possibly one of the best pop songs ever written. It has everything.
One of the finest slices of Jangly, Indie-Pop ever recorded.
It really is.
you're right
The drumming the riff - song should have been such a bigger hit. I guess in the US you still had hair metal chatting then it was meathead grunge
so true!!!
Early 90's was a great time to have been in your twenties with such a great variety of music going down from so many bands...
I heartily second that. I know as each decade of life passes, we're supposed to change and mature but when I watch this video, I can't help missing that Friday evening feeling of getting ready to go out...feeling like EVERYTHING was possible.

I love how Loz plays a million drum fills yet never gets in the way of the song.
Loz is the bollox!
Word!
Like on of the Motown funk brothers drummers.
This era of music was exceptional the early 90s
How on earth was this not a big hit?
Ride captures absolutely everything I love about music into one sound.
I don't think I will ever get tired of listening to the drums on this song. Why this guy wasn't ever listed anywhere as one of the best drummers of the 90s is beyond me.
Because the so called experts hate indie. Loz was and still is one of the best drummers ever!

Your statement is dripping with accuracy - not.
Pro tip: trying to sound "clever" really isn't your thing. Better luck next time!
@@TheMusicalElitistHey, I love great music. Just didn't understand music theory.

One of the best melodies I’ve ever heard
Mark Gardener IS LITERALLY SO FINE. The 1992 15 year old in me is STILL SHOOK.
I love how Andy’s outfit changes multiple times during the course of this video! 🤣🤣
Every time I hear this tune, no matter what mood I'm in, it makes me feel like I injected a bunch of dopamine, serotonin, and endorphins directly into my brain. What a brilliant song.
Only one like? Come on, people! A song to make us feel truly glad to be alive. Perfect in every way.
I was in this video filmed. At mcr student union bar 😂
Looks like it was fun! How many takes did they have to do?

still love Ride and this song has some deep nostalgia attached. Loz has always been one of my favourite drummers.
My love for Ride goes way back. This has always been one of my favorites. With ease one of the best songs ever recorded.
Everyone in the gaff dancing.... lost in the glorious noise that is RIDE. Monumental. Was the time of our lives. Oh to go back again.
Yea but nobody was into them..a year or two year later it was shed seven and all that bollocks

preparing for A'levels in Spring 1992 and still had all my grandparents. Nearly 30 years ago!!

Nah.. Rob nicked this fr mintcar..
Ride is soooooo awesome... after all this years I could listen that song all night long in endless loop!!! Such a masterpiece
Finally I know! Twisterella is the best pop song ever and it is all because of the bass. Brilliant. Bass based twee pop greatness.
the best musical years!
I bloody love this song. Weird to think that all the bright young things dancing in the video will all be in their late 40's and early 50's now...
Yup!!! And I'm seeing them January 30th in NYC...I'm 56 now, but I'll be on my younger-self's music time machine bus that night!!! 🤘
Yes, we are (I wasn't actually there, but you'd hope they would have been my friends at the time ...)
46! And remember the first time I heard this song like it was yesterday! Took me about 12 years to work out what song it actually was!
Ride - one of the best first wave bands.
The vocals at the end are just heavenly.
The drummer is just exceptional.
My dad had this album. I love this song

Jingly jangly guitar rock and roll doesn't get much better than this.

So happy they are back, new material is amazing but it's like they never went away that's how complete they sound.
I wish they would play their best album "Carnival Of Light" live. Ridiculous that they ignore it
@@davebest2001 Couldn’t agree more! Carnival of Light is criminally ignored and definitely still their best album. Weather Diaries and This Is Not A Safe place are brilliant too.

wall of guitars and pretty girls dancing....good times!
Yes !
Would have fit right in, on the AM radio in the summers 1966-1969.
What ... a great ....tune.. awesome !!!
how many times I have put this song in endless-loop for nights... you're awesome guys...thanks for that masterpiece
