    In this mpc one workflow on sample chopping on the mpc one i go over how i slice and match my sample tempo to my drums or drum breaks. this is a never ending topic because there is so much we can talk about but i go over how i create some boombap or lofi sampled based beats on the akai mpc one or even on the mpc live or touch. Using some of these tips and tricks in this mpc tutorial video it will give you new ideas on how to manipulate your samples without having to do any time stretching on the mpc one, instead of timestretch i like to use the program editor and pitch up or down my sample chops, using some of these techniques will help you inprove on your beat making workflow weather you are doing some 90s boom bap sampled based beats on the mpc or just want to explore the sampling world a bit more.

    The real fun begins when you want to layer another sample (melody, chords,…) from another record. Now you have to make that sample not only match the BPM of the beat, but also the key of the first sample.

      That Pete Rock/Marco Polo style joint. Luckily if you save your chops as new samples it’ll show you the guesstimated key under samples on the program edit screen and you can tune it up or down. makes it a lot easier!

I would recommend just buying a midi keyboard some of them might just cost you $100 which come already with the light version of Ableton and once you have that you can upgrade with a fraction of the price to the standard version plus you already have a midi keyboard almost for free lol hopefully it makes sense but Ableton is worth the investment in my opinion.

    Easiest way to find the tempo of a loop is using slicing imo. Set slice to manual, find start and end point by listening and looking for those 2 slices. Delete the slice markers inside the loop untill you only have one start and end slice marker. Truncate everything outside the loop.
    Then you can read the bpm of the screen for sample editing. Once you get the hang of it you can do it very fast. Sry for not going into more detail of ´how to´ but i´m not in front of my mpc right now. But you get the idea behind it.

    Hi! When I press down on a pad, any pad, I can hear a sort of "sticking" sound, as if the actual pad is making that sound when pressing the sensor down. Now, I don't have any issues with any of the pads, they work wonderfully, but I'm just wondering if this is normal and if any of your MPC ONE units make the same sound?

    • @malobeats
      @malobeats  Před 2 lety +2

      Grate question I haven’t explored the Pad Perimeter setting yet but what I do know is that it’s non distractive Which is a great thing just in case we want to go back and re-adjust the start and end point of a pad sample.

    • @lseven79
      @lseven79 Před 2 lety

      Yeah its confusing...I thought non destructive means it you can't change the pads once it's converted....I also discovered in pad perimeters once converted to pads the samples don't change if you changed them in "sample edit" and what i discovered is that you can still change them after on the main screen under "drum program" where it shows "edit samples"..if that makes sense...basically the sample edit doesn't change the converted pads once their in the drum program which can be still edited through the main screen aye...my brain hurts lol...hope you can do a video if anyone else struggles

    When you pitch stuff down on the mpc why does it make it slower as well ?

    • @malobeats
      @malobeats  Před 2 lety +2

      Yes so since it is slowing down the pitch of the audio not only does the audio slow down with the pitch but also the tempo is baked in the audio as you’re pitching it down. Now there is an alternative to this using warp audio where you could slow down the tempo without messing with the pitch of the audio which I will probably cover in another video. Hopefully this makes sense. Thank you for dropping by in the comments by the way.

    • @zyairthetruth
      @zyairthetruth Před 2 lety

      @@malobeats of course I understand that's just been my challenge getting stuff to go along with my drums when I try to pitch shift it and make it work. Because like you said just playing a sample over makes it a little boring. But I understand I'm gonna mess around with the warp and semitones like you showed in this and have some fun . Because sampling is amazing.

    I’ve found 1/4 slices are best for a certain sound in most 4/4 cases. Chopping on the boom and the bap, it swings more pleasing to the ear IMO.
