Question that I don't often see asked. What made you stop/leave the Navy? Everyone wants to be a fighter pilot, so while getting in the door is a huge source of questions, I think understanding why people leave the profession is sometimes even more valuable info for those trying to follow footsteps.

Great question. I will have to address that in an upcoming video. A lot of people leave for different reasons, mostly because while flying fighters is freaking awesome there are a lot of sacrifices one has to make to hold that position. Time away from loved ones is a huge sacrifice. Long deployments are part of it, but there is also all of the training time spent away from home leading up to deployment. At some point, in most people's lives, priorities change and for me my priorities shifted to settling down and pursuing other interests. This coupled with competing lifestyle opportunities, such as higher paying airline gigs and starting a family are also factors at play.

Alex provides excellent "up to date" insight and advice to becoming a Naval Aviator. This is commendable as most fighter pilots finish their tours and move on with their careers without giving anything back to the next generation of miltary pilots who will ultimately be defending our great nation in the future. Alex however, decided to give back because he cares.. Everything he says is spot on and worthy of consideration for those wishing to pursue a similar path. By following his advice, aspiring future fighter pilots may one day be able to experience the rewards of hard work and the ever-important essence of 'F-18 Power' as captured in his videos! Well done Alex,..well done..

this is pretty good info, i will be showing my child this if he or she ever displays aviation curiosity as a child like i did 😄 thanks man. i have met a few USAF and US Navy pilots, not talked a whole lot but you guys seem to have quite the affable personalities. no usually what "fighter" would be associated with but i think its a good thing really. loved the SF86 investigator interview comment "it is highly likely your interviewer already knows the answers to the questions so dont lie". best advice ever. (i contemplated lying for a class 1 medical years ago for about 2 minutes... and ever since people have been telling me to "just lie", almost oblivious to the fact it is not ignorant children in charge of aviation). Best Regards!

  • @leeginaround

okay weird question. Most videos I have seen of pilot flight in a fighter the throttle/stick are usually oriented in the same manner, that could be stick is in between your legs and or stick on the right side of the frame with the throttle on the left. As a lefty, I would fly with my left hand which wouldn't work well in most jets from what ive seen. Have you flown with any pilots that use their left hand to manipulate the aircraft and right hand to use the throttle?
