When the Red Falcon terrorist group takes over the Galuga Islands off the coast of New Zealand, elite Contra commandos Bill Rizer and Lance Bean spring into action, initiating an all-out war in which the fate of mankind hangs in the balance.
Operation Galuga is a reimagining of the arcade/NES version of Contra, featuring modern graphics and soundtrack, new stages, enemies, bosses, and gameplay mechanics. It is a 2.5D run-and-gun platformer game (aesthetically similar to previous titles like Contra: Evolution and Contra Returns). The game features an updated weapons system; classic weapons like the Spread Gun, Laser, Flame Thrower and Homing Gun are back, but now feature stackable upgrades that increase their destructive power, as well as introducing the new "Overload" system, which allow them to unleash unique attacks and special abilities.
There are three modes of play: Story Mode, Arcade Mode and Challenge Mode. In Story Mode, up to two players can play simultaneously along eight stages to defeat the evil Red Falcon alien invasion. In Arcade Mode, up to four players can join in simultaneous play.

at the end, i really hope that is a teaser for remakes of both Contra 3 and Hard Crops. The ending is the start of the Alien Wars in Contra 3 and the werewolf along with the Sniper and Robot, they were 3 of the 4 playable characters from Contra Hard Corps (not uprising as that is considered a prequel). If they do remake those then we could expect a remake of Contra 4 which takes place right after the Alien Wars when Black Viper (the alien leader in Contra 4) invades Earth
Contra 4 is an interquel between 3 and Hard Corps. Probably the sequel will cover these three.

@BeeRadicaI I'm on the xbox series X, i also have the switch, but the Nintendo switch version drops in the frame rate and it's noticeable. Buy it on your PS5, it'll be better on the bigger screen too cause the game is very zoomed out. It looks too small on the switch. Played the Demo on switch and bought it on the Xbox
My son has a Switch. It runs decent on my TV. There was a patch 2 days after release day on March 12. The game takes up 10GB on my micro sd card. I put the TV in " game mode".
Massive props to _Operation Galuga_ for injecting much-needed lore into the Contra franchise.
And of course... *Steve Blum* himself voicing Bill Rizer... _a dream come true._

So this game like remake for the first two games with adding all characters from Contra franchise except Hard Corps Uprising? Neat! I love how soundtrack is remastered and some areas of stages reminds of first two games. Well, I would be looking forward for next game where we'll see new Contra III: The Alien Wars and Contra Hard Corps

Contra Hard Corps I like the most. Was really fast paced action. This however sometimes looks like Gunstar Heroes. Especially the level with the train. But it's sure is nicely done.

The ending tells Brad has been mutated to specifically hunt Contras. In other words, he is supposedly a threat to humanity.

On purpose is worse then a glitch every time i gain extra lives through killing enemies also after i saved my game one moment i have them the next there gone takes forever to get lives just to loose them to the team behind this please fix this or at most let me know if it's part of this crazy challenge direction or if it's just a glitch which i hope it is so far the collection of contra games with contra shattered solider is way better.
