Personally I LOVED a far wilder magic by Allison Saft, one of my all time favourite books, but sadly couldn't get into her latest a fragile enchantment.

I agree with your mom, A Merry Little Meet Cute was so bad. There's not for me, then there's I didn't like it, and then there's I absolutely hated it, and I absolutely hated that book. Cute cover though lol!

I adored Fourth Wing and IF because it has that super high stakes that you were talking about. The MC Violet isn’t your typical “chosen one”, she isn’t strong or have magical abilities, the only reason why she’s able to make it is bc she is smarter and more knowledgeable that her opponents. I was disappointed by Dawn of Onyx :/ it’s a first novel but I found the writing not great or polished and the MC wasn’t interesting. 😅😢
I love that we have opposite views on these books! I couldn’t stand Violet 😂🫣😱 BUT maybe she will grow on me when I finally finish Iron Flame. I’m hoping so!
⭐️ I surprisingly had very few disappointments this year! Then again I’m super easy to please 😅
My hot take is that Divine Rivals was my most disappointing read this year. I didn't like the writing and how the author chose to put the name of the character they were speaking to in every piece of dialogue. That's bad writing in my opinion. I mean, we know who you are talking to, you don't have to say their name every time! My most favorite book this year was Belladonna by Adalyn Grace. Such a great book!
I didn't like fourth wing and if I'm being honest the fact that it was so hyped made me like it even less.

Forth wing i was disappointed, I enjoyed some parts but I haven't thought about it since. I did buy the second one although haven't read it. My favourite book was a court of thorns and roses 🌹

Tried reading ninth house and just found the writing very bad. The writing reminded me of The Atlas Six, which is another book I really really disliked.
Ugh I hated Atlas Six. Glad I unhauled those. I won’t pick up Ninth House if you say it’s like that
