    Thanks for the great video. I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong until I seen you only press the remote 1 time. I also didn't have the valet remote so I used a piece of metal to make the connection between the two pins and it did the job.

    • @PickyOne
      @PickyOne  Před 2 lety +3

      You're right, you can make a connection between the two pins with a piece of metal, but in my case I was working alone and the thing was installed in a very tight place and I needed an extra hand to do it. So, for only $4.95 and free shipping, I thought it's worth waiting for that valet wire button. To be honest I was nervous that I'm going to screw things up especially the remote start has a security bypass, that's why I wanted to go by the book.

    It worked… super easy. Press the control thing once. Then press again and keep holding then press the key fob. Hold it for 10 seconds. Then turn off the car and press the remote starter. And boom worked.

    I have the 7111P version. The instructions in the video weren't working but the following worked for me
    1 OPEN DOOR
    2 TURN KEY TO 2ND POSITION
    3 TURN KEY TO OFF AND REMOVE KEY
    4 CLICK BUTTON ONE TIME WITH NO HOLD
    You will see the blinkers flash 9 times then it should be reprogrammed

    I have this remote and the rubber pad was wearing out. i called to see if i could get just the pad replaced. I was told and a new fob was $59.00
    I ordered 2 new fobs for $7.99 each.
    Giving it a bit of thought I called back and asked the tech person if the remote is the same couldn't I put the old guts in the new fob. He said yes, it's the same remote.
    I'm glad momma didn't raise no dummy; Typo's are to be forgiven lol

      That was the first short cut I thought of, but my old fob chip was done.
      In your case you don't need to reprogram. Just keep the new gut just in case.

    Thanks for the video! Do you have any manuals on how to reprogram the controller? It seems like after I got a new key coded for my car, the remote starter doesn't work properly. It will start the car and then immediately shuts down! So frustrating! Any help would be appreciated!

    • @PickyOne
      @PickyOne  Před 2 lety

      Thanks for watching the video, just to let you know, I'm not a professional installer. It is very common in the world of remote starters, manufacturers intentionally do not include any installation manuals with their products, and they only send it directly to their authorized installers, places like Best Buy or other car audio installation businesses. The reason manufacturers do that is liability and a complication of the installation process, that they don't want to have a tech support for it. I remember spending few hours on Google and I found out some installation manuals that find its way to the internet as PDF docs, but since I didn't need them I really did not save them.
      Coming to your case specifically, it looks like that you need to reintroduce the Starter device to your vehicle security system in order to bypass it.
      Your case is like cutting a duplicate $3 metal key at home Depot for your car key, it's going to start your car but since it doesn't have the chip inside of the plastic part of it, the security system is going to shut your car down.
      To conclude you have two options, either you take it to a professional installer and let them charge you for programming the device from scratch, like whether you need the lights to be on or the horn to honk, or how many minutes you need that device to stay on before it shuts itself down if you don't show up to your vehicle. The other option is to look for the manual and read it carefully and be ready to spend some time doing the programming process from scratch.
      Sorry for the lengthy reply.

    Hello and thank you for the video. I do have a question. My remote seems to be working but the steps are incorrect. Used to be I clicked it twice to start and that works, but if my door is already unlocked when I start it, it stays unlocked. Which is not good if it's running in a supermarket parking lot. I used to be able to lock it from that remote as well and I can't seem to do that. I can unlock it if it's already locked, but I can's lock it if it's unlocked. I haven't used mine in so long I forget the sequence of the system.

    • @PickyOne
      @PickyOne  Před rokem

      In this video I discussed the issue of programming a replacement clicker, which is totally a different story than programming the whole system, that happens the day of the installation of the remote start system. In the initial installation programming, things like how many minutes you want the engine to keep running, do you want the lights to stay on, or do you want the horn to to honk. You need to look for the original installation manual that came with a device in order to reprogram everything. Since you mention the parking lot scenario, when my old mother rides with me and we go shopping, sometimes she wants to stay in the van, so before I take off my keys I press the clicker twice and I remove the keys but the engine stays on in order for the air conditioner to stay on. So, if someone wants to jump into the van and drive it away it's going to shut off once they press the brake pedal.

      I'm sorry to hear that. In this video I checked the system first and only the clicker was broken, luckily I did not have to deal with the system. My van horn is not connected to the OPTIONAL horn feature, that's why I don't hear any honk while programming. Try to delete the old/ existing clickers first then repeat the whole process again. Good Luck.

    Hello. I tried reprogramming the remote to my car but all I hear is clicks inside the car from the device. Not sure if I’m doing something wrong. Have any ideas what could be my problem?

    • @PickyOne
      @PickyOne  Před 8 měsíci

      I'm not sure because I'm not a professional installer. In my case the system was fully functional except the clicker button as shown. I did not buy a new clicker till I made sure it's only the clicker that was acting up. I posted this video when I could not find a video that shows how to program a clicker to replace a broken or lost one. You may try to check the wiring that is going out of the box, sorry I can't help more.

    • @PickyOne
      @PickyOne  Před 2 lety +2

      There's no one answer to this, it depends on the initial installation configuration. Reprogram the clickers as new, if it doesn't work, delete the clicker and then reprogram it again.

      That depends on the original installation programing which this video does not cover. every installation is different depending on the options chosen on the day the device is installed. In my case, my device is not connected to the horn or the hood.
