IDEAL introduces a new line of hot forged heavy-duty wire strippers and cutters. They combine the features of the two most common tools an electrician reaches for on the jobsite a lineman’s pliers and a wire stripper.
The new 45-110 strips 8 to 16 gauge solid and 10 to 18 gauge stranded copper conductors and has a unique plier head designed to ream conduit with a wide nose with knurled jaws to twist multiple conductors together, 6-32 and 8-32 screw cutting holes shear bolts to length, knife to knife cutting blades cleanly cut conductors and includes a non-insulated terminal crimping die. Spring loaded ergonomic smart grip textured handles provide an improved grip and comfort while using the tool. It also includes a locking pawl for easy storage in a tool pouch.
The new 45-112 wire stripper is designed for electricians who mainly work with NM type cable. It strips the outer jacket off 12/2 and 14/2 NM cables and strips 12 and 14 gauge individual conductors and has all the other features of the 45-110 wire stripper and cutter.
These hot forged heavy-duty wire strippers and cutters are stronger than traditional IDEAL wire strippers and will provide years of service and combine two tools into one. IDEAL hand tools for the professional tradesperson since 1916.
Thanks for watching I am Ron with IDEAL. I will see you on the next one.

Long over due very glad to see ideal come out with a heavy duty wire stripper with thicker grips and nice bull nose ( square) pliers. I like that it has a lock. I would love to try these out the wire stripper 8-16awg solid 10-18 stranded. A couple months ago I was wondering why ideal didn't have a heavy duty wire stripper this style. Very happy to see it finally come to life. Can't wait to try these out.
Hey Don appreciate the comment I do like these as they combine a wire stripper and a side cutter. Wish I could get deeper in the box with it though. Have fun with them Ron
looks like I'm getting me a pair next week. Thanks Mr. Ron
Hi good to hear from you yes I kind of like them although they do look a little ugly....Ron
Dan we will have to add you to the folks we demo tools to to get their opinion.....Ron
Great video
Hi Leo good to hear from you have fun Ron
Neat multi-tool might have to cop myself one !
Cool they should be in Loews soon. Ron
great pliers
Ruben great to hear from you! Ron
@@RonKipperDatacomm1 I have the 35-3430 your guys version of channel-locks and they function as good as the channel-lock brand (with my comparison) if u have my E-mail still it is good 2 here from u
I really like the bag
Hi Robert yes I love those leather bags 35-975 they carry a lifetime warranty. Have fun Ron
almost perfect! bypass blades are so much easier on the hands for cutting multiple conductors. knife to knife is alright if you've got the 8" leverage of linesman's. klein eventually gave in and came out with bypass cutters on their hybrid strippers, if these had them I'd be putting in an order asap.
Joel I will pass along your comments to the product folks you never know.....thanks Ron
Would have preferred a shearing type cutter but I’ll give this a shot. Thanks Ron.
OK Ann let me know how you like them. have fun Ron
There Is something you mentioned about the ones specifically designed to strip NM ,you said they have all the features of the other ones and that isn't true, they only strip 12-14 gauge while the other ones strip 8-16. If the NM strippers did that I would buy those in a heartbeat
OK you got me.......they are basically the same except for the range of wires they strip have fun Ron
I saw these in lowes well not the romex version I almost thought of grabbing it then thought the curved handle would make it uncomfortable to splice wires in my opinion. I'm happy to see lowes going back to carrying some better quality electrical tools. I wasn't a fan of the southwire, so I can't wait until lowes gets more Ideal in stock because no one really carries it all klein and greenlee.
Hey Rob you will definitely be seeing more IDEAL product in Lowes. We have a new new of testers you will see as well. Thanks for the comment Ron
Dan watch out what you hear from 3rd or 4th sources. No contract expired HD and Klein teamed up maybe 9 or 10 years ago and you won't find Klien in other retailers. IDEAL still sells products through HD and we value that relationship. Recentley IDEAL teamed up with Lowes with a new line of tools and testers that you won't find at other retailers. It replaces the Southwire program they had put in a few years back and we look forward to seeing it in the stores. Have fun Ron
Klein's contract was probably extended recently I am not sure about that but it makes sense as it has worked out for them. Lowes and IDEAL are basically doing the same thing although we still sell Menards and HD some products. I'll have to go check out my local Lowes soon Ron
@@RonKipperDatacomm1 I was just in lowes this past week and all they had was southwire, some ideal which they never had before testers, pliers, screwdrivers and fish tapes but it wasn't a wide assortment it was very limited, but nonetheless happy to see something other than Southwire. They also did have an extra fluke product or 2 here and there which also made me think they may start carrying fluke again which I think could really give them leverage from home depot between flukes reputation for test instruments and Ideal being almost the standard for fish tapes and benders and having good quality screwdrivers and pliers, but it would still have to come along and kleins quality to continue to fall for some of the electricians to completely bail on klein considering Ideal is USA made although people will still talk how much klein has gave back so there will always be that loyalty.
Appreciate you being out there man Ron
Like to try them
Yea I like them Ron
Where I get them, they don't appear on the page
Hello they are stock at Lowes here is a link www.lowes.com/search?searchTerm=ideal+45-110
hope that helps Ron
The cutter on these (or the one I purchased) were horrible, it took a lot of effort just to cut 14/2 Romex, I bought these trying to replace my south wire ones
Hey Splizzy Dyce sorry to hear that Lowes will take them back I'll pass along your comments to the product folks Ron
The IDEAL forged wire strippers are OLD SCHOOL....Like Klein hybrid combination pliers. Whatever cutting or stripping not very well. CAN'T compare with Southwire and Milwaukee forged wire strippers
Hi WR there is always something we can improve I have used these a few times and thought they cut and stripped OK but I don't use them everyday. Ron
@@RonKipperDatacomm1 Hi Ron, I am an engineer for the hand tools. If you are not a electrician , not use them everyday, but the cutting and stripping performance will be affected after use 5000 times. I did a comparison test at home with Milwaukee, Klein, Ideal, Southwire multi tool pliers. The Ideal one was disppointed...
Hey WR good to know I am curious if you cycled each plier 5000 times you must have a rig set up to do that right? Also please share who you work for and as I said eariler we can always do a better job. I will pass along your input to the tool folks at IDEAL thanks Ron
