I will also offer commentary and analysis on the overall result.

Some Africans went begging for a category in the grammys, basically they said they want those in the grammys to judge them and award them for their own music, now some are upset when the judgement is not in their favor. How do you build your own music genre only to give it away when you could have built your own award system where you judge yourself, like how Americans have their own music genres and they have their own award ceremonies like the grammy to judge themselves made by them awarded by them. At least have your own award ceremony where you patronise your own in the continent and let the grammy be second best 😮

There are many variables to consider here including possibilities such as artists from those countries not submitting for consideration. We simply wouldn't know. Since that category is new and presented for the first time this year, what we will see over time with the nominees and winners will be trends that may point us to a worthy answer.

The problem is that Davido, Tems, and Burna Boy are simply not good singers at all. Tyla is barely halfway decent. It's like these folks are tone deaf and when you hear them live, it's not good. Afro beats is certainly about the beats. That's another issue, Afro beats is heavily driven by programming and not live instruments and that could get repetitive and boring. I have heard of African artists whose music and singing far outweighs Davido and Burna Boy right now under the Afro fusion genre. For artists to start winning, improve the singing, if not the singing, introduce new African sound blends and start using more live music on the actual albums.
