Thanks for the vid. Never really had an issue getting the carrier film to come off. It's the lottery as to what comes off with it that I don't like. Stencils and smaller decals are prone to lifting with the film. The final finish is nice but not sure it's worth all the extra hassle.
Nice to see, but can you please give a brief description of what you did to apply the decals; were they put straight onto Alclad, and did you use a sol/sett at all? Thanks!
I don't understand using the clear at all. If it's to protect the Alclad, why did the mineral spirits go through the gloss to the carrier film but not also go through the gloss to the Alclad? And how do the mineral spirits go through the clear gloss to begin with? Normally, I can use oils and mineral spirits over acrylics with no effect to the acrylics at all. When I saw you putting on the gloss, my first thought was that you'd never get the carrier off after sealing it down with gloss acrylic.
Do these come in weekend editions too? I just bought their A6M2 Zero Model 21 Weekend and I don't know if the decals are of this new "peel off" type...
I've seen one man was rubbing the carrier film with brush and a drop of water. Haven't used any of these new decals, but as far as I understand, the whole shtick is to not soften the carrier.

Someone should tell Peter Oxley. He hates them. Great to see someone give it an actual go!
He do not know what use them. Brits are ignorants anyway.
He wouldn't listen! 😂
@@56Gumball I know, he is ignorant and Airfix fanboy.
Cool! BOFB (big ol’ fat booger) method 😊. Thanks for the share!
Howdy from SE Idaho. Great lookin' NMF!!
Sweet. I went to Shelley high school

Good point. Applied decal with Mark fit strong and given 24 hrs to dry.
Great video 👍👍
Really cool. ✈
Yay for the boogie method!
As long as you give the Eduard decals plenty of time to dry the carrier film peels off really easy, can do it with a pair of tweezers.
I tried that. This is better
@@WasatchModeler everyone has their own technique. Lol
Using water is another method with a stiff brush it maybe less abrasive on your paint
Thank you, I was wondering about these decals. So what is the benefit of these decals compared to the typical water slide with no film?
Exactly. You can remove the film to it looks painted on

The gloss was put down before the decals to protect the alclad
I never sealed the decal with a glue coat. It was before the decal
Is there a way to see if you have the new or normal type decals?
I would try one of the decals you are not going to use on a mule to see if they work. Generally the new decals look like they have extra carrier film.

There isn’t a real firm date on when they started with these newer decals, but in my experience it’s been everything made after 2020
I would test one of them on a mule to see if it works
2020? I thought they were a much more recent addition...then I'm probably fine. Though testing on a mule is a good idea!

I don't think water would work. Needs to be stronger.

Don't you have to buy the kit to get the decal?
For the most part. Eduard does sell some markings.
Silverman said jesus is magic?😳
