Call me if you get lost starts with sir baudelaire. We immediately hear dj drama and know this is gonna be a gangsta grillz tape.the gangsta grill tapes were a mixtape series dj drama ran in the early 2000’s, he worked with artists like pharell, lil Wayne and now Tyler the creator. But back to sir Baudelaire, this track is Tyler catching us up on where he’s been.He sets the scene in Geneva Switzerland swimming in the clear lakes and relaxing on the beach. We then transition into track 2. CORSO. with a beat change that takes us from the beaches of Geneva to a cold and dark atmosphere. We really hear Tyler talking his shit on this track. Bragging about his multiple houses, cars, vacations and even his plans to buy a boat.In the last verse of the track we here Tyler first reference to the love triangle between him, a girl and her boyfriend. We learn how in the end she picked the other man and left Tyler heart broken. And now he’s trying to use material possessions to numb his pain. But its not working. Wusyaname talks about the first time Tyler met the girl that would leave him heartbroken He met her at a bakery looking for a brioche his friend had put him on to.He then fantasizes about all the things they could do together. including trips to Europe, watching films at CANNES, and proceeds to ask her for her name. NBA young boy then comes in and kills his verse. He stays on beat his whole time and this might have been one of the last collabs I would have expected but I really like it.we can assume all this happened in Tylers head though as the girl doesn’t acknowledge him at all in the music video. And it is at the end of the video that Tyler realizesthat the girl who he had become infatuated withwas his friends girlfriend. lumber jack was the single for this album, The beat alone is incredible. as well as Tyler’s double entendres and monotone voice. Lumberjack is one of my favourite so far. the track also features background vocals from notable members of odd future like DOMO, TACO, L-BOY, and JASPER but as for the love story lumberjack only adds exposition that we hear at the start of the music video.hot wind blows takes us back to Geneva, Tyler is on vacation with said girl and then lil Wayne obviously does what lil Wayne does. He drops the hardest feature i’ve heard from him in a while. but this track doesn’t add very much to the overall story. But sonically this is one of my favourite tracks on the album especially this part right here {woman high note sample} massa talks about Tyler finally leaving his comfort zone at 23 and finally becoming himself. we finally have an explanation of why cherry bomb sounded so different.MASSA also talks about how tyler never glamorized his struggle and the rough side of his life that nobody saw such as his mother being in a homeless shelter at the time Yonkers was going viral. This track shows the growth that Tyler has got through in the last decade alone.I wasn’t really a big fan of Tyler at the beginning of his career. It felt like he was being vulgar just for the sake of being vulgarbut as time went on he accepted who he was and became one of my favourite artistsrun it up talks about Tyler facing alienation from fellow black people because he was different and refused to stick to the status quo. He also talks about finding out what you want and chasing it relentlessly. Without a doubt in your mind. This song serves as motivation to his fans and tells them anything is possible and to be themselves regardless of what their surroundings tell them they should be. sweet takes us back to the love story.

I feel like a lot of the songs are Tyler trying to convince himself that he doesn’t need this girl, he’s got everything he wants at hand, but in the end he accepts that she’s hurt him and he really liked her and can finally move on

I just can’t help but compare tracks like WILSHIRE to IGOR and find the blatant almost stream of consciousness style story telling in his latest tracks so much less engaging than the genius executed in his previous record. The way he reveals information in IGOR feels so much more deliberate and is amazing for re-listens and reevaluations of the content in those songs.

People also don't get why he adopted the nickname "Baudelaire". Charles Baudelaire was a known 19th century poet, who wrote "Les Fleurs Du Mal". It this book, he writes poems about gore and weird things, like d3ad bodies, satan, woman, and a bunch of other edgy things, and he is making art with those topics. This could be compared to the early days of Tyler, when he just talked about edgy stuff and made music with it. And to top it off, a recuring subject in Baudelaire's "Les Fleurs du Mal" is the theme of traveling, and in this theme of traveling, the presence of a woman is seen as necessary by Baudelaire, hence why Tyler made a whole album about traveling, and also traveling with a woman.

I honestly didn't like Tyler when he released Yonkers but once he released Igor & I heard Earfquake I completely fell in love!!!! I was finally able to appreciate him & his old music! I love the album Flower Boy 🥰 I seen him when he came to St Louis MO in 2019 & of course I seen him this year!!!! Tyler is so talented & unique! He is literally Black Boy Joy/ magic!!! I hope he continues being great 😍❤️🎉🥰✨️🍾 great video sir!

I love trying to figure out the storyline! That was all I was doing for the first few weeks after it dropped 😂 Its such an amazing album with such an indirect story while also having just enough to piece something together. More under the surface than IGOR, but still has one unlike something like Flower Boy or Cherry Bomb

Friday on the 13 I saw Tyler at a concert in New York and I was so excited to talk to him and take a picture but all of my hopes were crushed when his bodyguard looked at him and say no the bodyguard proceeded to tell me no pictures and they left (he had company so it must be unpleasant get bothered by a fan while trying to have fun with people you like)😩😭

One thing that I think is also important in “I THOUGHT YOU WANTED TO DANCE” is towards the end when they sing together, its almost as if they are talking to each other. Admitting that it was the right person but the wrong time. But when the time does come that they are willing to dance with each other and not to forget each other when even when they have someone else, waiting for the perfect moment where they are both able to have what they had.
It’s sad but beautiful that they are willing to remember what they had and hold onto it when the time is right. Where they can finally be the right person at the right time.

CMIYGL in my personal opinion is such a sad but raw type of story, the tale of uncorresponded love and the fall of it hits so hard home for me, the feeling of falling in love with someone you can never have, this album showed it in the best manner ever.

I would kill to see him work on more things like show/movie soundtracks
