Funny enough, Dontrelle Willis actually got traded to Tigers from Marlins as a part of Miggy trade
Yeah and Willis had a few good seasons with the Tigers. I’m a Tigers fan and I’m pretty sure that was a good trade.
@@colethomas1994 Willis was 2-8 with a 6.86 ERA in 3 seasons in Detroit. Not good.
Trevor Lain I’m gonna need those chief
the Marlins traded away Miguel Cabrera before his monster seasons in 2012, 2013 and 2014 lmfao.
Supprised that Marc omitted that
As a jays fan this may sound insane but I’m almost glad that the David Wright trade didn’t happen because then we probably wouldn’t have traded for josh Donaldson
Zach Duke I’m a jays fan the fact they almost traded Joey bats scares me
Marc, I know it's a bit late but could you do a All Star team lineup for the AL and the NL because it's technically the midpoint of the season?
Marc you need that handlebar mustache
That DiMaggio ,William's trade would have gotten a nickname
Yeah the drunk trade
Lol
To be honest, I can still see DiMaggio in a Red Sox uniform and Williams in a NYY uniform.
Given how their career paths went afterward, the Yankees would have gotten the better deal in most ways.
DiMaggio body started breaking down not long after, and would retire in 1951. While Williams played till 1960.
Some other thoughts:
Joe could have played with brother Dom (and maybe vould have transitioned to a corner OF spot) and his old Yankee manager Joe McCarthy.
Ted Williams and Mickey Mantle back to back in the lineup through the 1950s!
And finally, quite possibly, Ted Williams last play of his career could have been watching the famous Mazeroski HR go over his head and the fence 8n 1960 World Series. (In place of Yogi in LF)
I’m surprised he didn’t make a video about the Mets sweeping the double header against the Yankees😮
SAMUEL JACOBOWITZ yes it was
D0DGE. Technically they are the Yankees but their roster was horendous
I think he understands that everyone good is on the IL besides Voit.
SAMUEL JACOBOWITZ well it’s the Yankees so you’re just salty that your whole team is injury prone
QuackedDaniel he’s not salty. Just because it’s the Yankees doesn’t mean he can’t be right. Look at our box lineup against the Mets on that double header day.
I think it would be so cool to wear the Jackie Robinson number during regular games
Like a 42 patch?
i mean they do, on jackie day
I love the videos. Keep up the great work
I couldn't imagine Rivera on a different team
Same
Andrew Brower ikr
Yeah
Great list! If you're planning on doing another I have a suggestion. In 1925 the Yankees offered the Red Sox Lou Gehrig for Phil Todt, but Boston turned them down. We all know that Gehrig went on to greatness while Todt finished his 8-year career with an 82 OPS+. That was 42 years before I was born, but it still hurts.
such a great vid Marc keep going off man. #SpursUp 🤙🏻
Before you drop a part 2 of this can you drop the most disappointing player from ever team
7:20 marc calling himself a Loser for being a Met fan is the best! 🤣🤣🤣😭
Wait..... you’re telling me we could’ve had David WRIGHT?? My heart.....
I forgot how much of an idiot Ricciardi was.
Going off of the Dimaggio Williams trade you should do a "Biggest trades where no teams lost" video, going over superstars being traded for other superstars
Not sur eif there are better trades with superstars than that. There are probably only like 3-4 trades with superstars on both teams.
That bonds deal would have been such a lopsided deal though Pena was one hell of pitcher
@Lighthouse in the Storm the players the braves would have traded weren’t the caliber of player bonds was Peña was a great pitcher though
Just imagine ted Williams on the yankees
tripdeck 5 it makes me sad to even imagine it
Red Sox fans would riot
tripdeck 5 him and joe d damn
I would love it
@@TheBrainSpecialist I can conform
Yes part 2 please
The even more crazy part of the Williams-DiMaggio trade was Joe just won '47 MVP and Ted just got second in voting and won in '46, so these were to player at the absolute top of the game
DiMaggio's body did start breaking down soon after. Missed the first half of 1949 with a bad heel. And dealt with some nagging stuff in 1951, where he finally retired.
Marc really likes the word penultimate
Just won a game of fall guys watching this. LOL. Love the vids mark
Tigers fan here. I find it hilarious that we tried to give up Grandy and JV for Dontrelle, they refused, and we STILL ended up getting Dontrelle later on.
Another interesting what if trade is before the Tigers officially acquired Miggy, the Angels were the front runners but apparently they didn't want Dontrelle... Just imagine the Angels during 2012-2014 with Trout and prime Miggy... They would be a disgusting duo
We WANT that part 2
You should do a video on trades the Mets almost made. There was talk in the 1970s that Seaver was going to be traded to the Dodgers for Don Sutton. The Mets almost traded Ray Knight to the Pirates for Lee Mazzili prior to the 1986 season. I remember prior to the 1989 season, the Mets almost traded Howard Johnson, Sid Fernandez, Lenny Dykstra and Top prospect David West to the Braves for Dale Murphy and Paul Assemacher. The same quartet of Mets was offered to the Mariners for Mark Langston and Jay Buhner. And how about the Mets not wanting to give up Victor Diaz for Manny Ramirez in 2005?
Also, me being a Mets fan as well, the Griffey trade would have killed them in my opinion. Not even bringing up injuries, because, who knows, maybe he could have gotten better care in NY. But giving up Cedeno and Dotel wouldn’t have gotten the Mets Hampton. I doubt they make the Series without him (and Bell.. very underrated). Like him or not, Benitez was a strong closer from 98-01. Payton was a solid player but they traded him anyway for almost nothing. The finances would have been an issue. KGJr. was a soon to be free agent. I’m guessing they would have stretched the budget to sign him which, most likely, wouldn’t have worked out well. But the main thing is due to Hampton rejecting arbitration and being a type A, the Mets drafted Wright with that comp pick. So if it wasn’t for Cedeno and Dotel, David Wright would have played elsewhere. I’m good for not getting Griffey haha.
Barry Larkin in 2000 would have been interesting, though.. maybe playing for a contender on the big stage would have woken him.
Need part 2!!!
Don Zimmer was the year before A-Rod was traded to the Yankees. I remember watching both Don Zimmer vs Pedro and A-Rod vs Varitek live. I was in 4th grade for Pedro vs Don Zimmer and going into 5th grade when A-Rod vs Varitek happened.
Back in 2001, the Reds and Padres agreed to trade Ken Griffey Jr. for Phil Nevin. But Nevin had a no trade clause and didn’t want to waive it. So the deal never happened
Marc are you going to be streaming the trade deadline on the 31st? Much love
Rivera also almost got sent to Detroit in 95 for David Wells, who ended up with the Yanks a year and a half later anyway.
9:33 try being a mariner fan never made the playoffs in my lifetime and i have to here that our football team should have ran the ball over and over again
And the fact ur basketball team got relocated to Oklahoma City, I’m really sorry I had to say it
I am so, so sorry.
You really should have run the ball. You had beast mode for gods sake
The wxw-lonewolf-wxw I’m not a Seahawks fan I’m an eagles fan my team can actually beat the patriots in the super bowl
Yeah try being a Twins fan! They've made the playoffs a bunch of times in my lifetime but EVERY SINGLE TIME they get swept by the Yankees, and that's even worse than not getting into the playoffs.
Those Pedro pitches were unreal
For the Mets trade, Octavio Dotel was one of the best closers
We need more parts please
Jay Bruce was saposed to go to Toronto for Micheal Saunders and a couple prospects in 2016. The trade fell through unfortunately because a player involved was injured. I would have loved to see Bruce on that '16 Blue Jay's team.
I remember Bonds almost going to Braves, it seemed like it was gonna happen. I gotta agree Bonds is one of the best players (Steroids or not). He already had a HOF career before all the negative shit.
I’m a pretty knowledgeable baseball fan so I knew all of these already. Any shot you could compile a list of more obscure almost trades/free agent signings?
You should make a video on baseball the best players that almost chose a different sport
I remember reading about the Williams DiMaggio trade. It was actually DiMaggio and a few other guys, because at that point was already 32, and Williams was 28. Williams went on to produce about 77 Wins for the remainder of his career, while DiMaggio only about 29. Incredibly lopsided.
What makes the Arod Red Sox trade even crazier is that Boston planned on trading Nomar Garciaparra (their former star shortstop) to the White Sox in exchange for their all star outfielder Magglio Ordóñez
Fun video RIP black panther
Please do a part 2
What about the 1993 Bluejays almost getting Randy Johnson for Steve Karsay and Mike Timlin.
Could you do a last minute/day of trades that could happen by tomorrow!
Your a Mets fan ayyyy I’m Mets fan too
Could you do a trade deadline recap?
Do a what if series on the channel
Marc the Mets lost on a wild pitch. Being a Mets’ fan is the worst pain to experience.
Nope. Reds.
gothard5 But at least you guys have had really big success in the past. The Mets have been terrible and blowing very important games since ‘62.
Long Jimmies obviously you don’t know what being a mariners fan is like. Still been 20 years since we’ve been in the playoffs
actually the cubs did
They just blew a 7-2 lead
Reaction/opinion on new Texas Rangers stadium and Blues jays buffalo stadium.
Yes
You got 3000 likes, part 2 now please.
As a met fan, who grew up the biggest David Wright fan you’d meet, I always wore number 5 in little league, thinking that he may have ended up a blue jay, it baffles me.
Randy Johnson was almost traded to the Blue Jays in 1993
And sadly, that didn't happen
That side trade with the White Sox would have been Nomar for Magglio Ordonez. The 2003 Red Sox would have looked so much different
U doing a trade deadline stream?
As a Sox fan I’m glad the trade didn’t happen but imagine DiMaggio with the monster and Williams with the short porch in Yankee stadium... interesting to say the least
Do the manager rankings please
How did you not mention how Willis went to the Tigers anyway with MIGUEL CABRERA a few years later??
Now, let's talking about crazy trades that actually _did_ happen. Let's first start off with trading Mookie Betts of the Red Sox for Alex Verdugo of the Dodgers.
Ik there’s not a lot of big trades this year probably but can you still do a prediction video
With Williams and DiMaggio they also thought Joe would be better off in Boston being a righty and Williams a Lefty on NY and the "short" porch
Cleveland also blew a 3-1 lead in the 2007 ALCS to the Sox
Being a Tigers fan I surprised we dodge trading JV then. We’ve made so many bad trades in the last 6-7 years.
Marc, you may be too young to remember this, but Pedro Martinez was not originally an Expo. He came up with the Dodgers, and he was traded for Delino DeShields. He was traded because Tommy LaSorda was not a big fan of his. I believe I remember Tommy being quoted as saying Pedro 'had no guts'.
And Dodgers fans wonder why I post hate notes about their beloved Tommy.
What Marc doesn’t mention is that the gm that refused and insulted David Wright ended up joining the Mets front office a few years later
I was looking through my old baseball cards and I have a minor league card of Bobby Bonds Jr. I had no idea he had a brother that player professionally.
I think Griffey Jr, had one too.
Griffey would have actually come to the Mets but Steve Phillips gave him a time limit for his answer and Griffey told him to kick rocks.
Are u doing a trade deadline video
As a Red Sox fan, I'm glad the A-Roid trade didn't happen. By the way, the incident between Pedro and Zimmer happened in the 2003 ALCS, so that was before the proposed trade that would have sent Manny to Texas and A-Roid to Boston.
Do a part 2 mlb trades that almost happened
Oh here's a great one for part 2, the Yankees offered Lou Gehrig to the Red Sox straight up for Phil Todt. The Yankees pretty much wanted to thank the Red Sox for the Ruth trade but the Red Sox turned it down.
Lets be honest if verlander went to the marlins he wouldve been traded away a few years ago
The Tigers were glad it didn't happen, Verlander is a HOF
Do a trade deadline predictions video
That’s my best video on my channel with 500 views!!!
Padres were gonna trade for Ken Griffey Jr. in 2001, but Phil Nevin declined to waive his no trade clause. :(
W
ayo wassup never knew i would see u here
Do a trade deadline prediction
I sure am glad Steinbrenner didn't get to have complete control of the team. If he did, he would've run that team into the ground and not even just with that Mariano Rivera trade you mentioned.
Randy Johnson almost got traded to the Jays at the 1993 trade deadline.
I can't believe you didn't mention the trade that almost happened between The Mets and Red Sox involving Manny Ramirez for Mike Cameron and Lastings Milledge.
What up dude
Yo Marc can you do a video on will the Dodgers ever win the world series
One of the Rivera trade concepts that didn't happen was that the Yankees were going to give Rivera and Jorge Posada (who was in AA at the time) to the Reds for outfielder Curtis Goodwin, and Jim Bowden turned it down because he always overvalued outfielders.
2:30 Felix Fermin who is shortstop only hit 4 career home runs and Dontrelle Willis who is pitcher hit 9 career homers. Wow lol
can we see trade deadline predictions, buyer or sellers .
for the barry bonds to the braves trade it might have costed the braves getting maddux so that was best for ATL
Not to disrespect mark but I watched a video from stark raving sports on how Steinbrenners ban caused the 90s dynasty
I love how you filter everything through the eye of a Mets fan.
I haven't even finished the video yet I barely started and you already have a thumbs up/like from me for a part 2. Who is with me???
Why wouldn’t the Expos accept that trade? They could’ve gotten Bartolo for Pedro? Pedro is just a mimic of the unmeasurable power of Bartolo.
Do what the all star teams would be
The Expos & Cards trade is the most expos thing ever
Give part two
I remember the Jay Buhner for Ken Phelps trade. What a disaster for the Yankees. Rivera for Felix Fermin would have been unforgivable. Thank the Yankee Gods that George Steinbrenner finally showed some restraint in the 1990s and was able to put together a dynasty
For part 2 add Aroldis Chapman to the Dodgers back in 2016, deal was done but Chapman got into legal trouble. Dodgers would’ve had Kenley Jansen and Chapman, Yankees trade would’ve never happened and Cubs would’ve never had Chapman for their WS team
Would the Expos have stayed in Montreal if they had Pujols?
I like people like Marc, some people like other teams because their the best in the league, for example dodgers have the best season in history,my friend originally liked the marlins but now all of the sudden he likes dodgers now…but Marc has been a Mets fan since he was born.
Zack Hample caught a rod 3000 hit
As a Mets fan I too share your pain. I know the Mets could‘ve signed Vladimir Guerrero, but they weren’t willing to sign 9+ year contract
Jose Fernandez was almost traded to the diamondbacks for AJ Pollock and Patrick Corbin
Also another you could add to this list Aaron Judge to the Giants
